Well, don't forget the number of model generations between the two cars.

With new standards of rigidity and NVH reduction, it's a given that many new cars are pretty heavy.

That the new Focus weighs about as much as an old Accord, while the Civic is lighter and the Altis lighter still... but the amount of noise and "tinniness" is inversely proportional to their weights, with the Focus being more refined, the Civic less so, and the Corolla coming in last (but not by much versus the Civic).

Of course, I prefer lighter cars... but there's no direct competitor for the Carens here, yet...

Is this car wieght really a issue? I think heavier car give you more comfort in riding. And minus the car weight you get more speed. Am I right?

And all Kias and Hyundais that come to our shore are CBU's from Korea kaya mas maganda ang built quality.

In emergency handling, a heavier car will tend to understeer earlier (witness the Focus... which has exceptional handling, but suffers from understeer when pushed due to its heavy chassis.) This is not a big problem for people carriers.

In stop and go traffic, a heavier car will tend to use more fuel to accelerate up to cruising speed. This can be mitigated by a good transmission ratio selection and the high torque of a turbodiesel.

Did light vehicle with bigger engine = more FC?

Depends on the engine and the vehicle. For example, the difference in terms of fuel consumption between the 2.0 and 2.4 CRVs aren't very big... and the difference between the consumption of the 1.6 and 2.0 Lynx is almost non-existent...

But for other vehicles, as long as the engine has enough power for the body, it'll be operating at good efficiency.

STAR Tollway in Batangas, I guess. At that speed covering that entire highway, 15 min maybe.

Sir, might I suggest a BRC or Subic Int'l raceway track day if you want to go at that speed. Hindi masyado matao sa Star tollway but the roads are quite uneven (Naaawa nga ako sa car pag lagpas 110 ang takbo eh. Sama ng tunog.)and there are plenty of road hazards pa din.

I've try star tollway once. Mas maganda nga sya tumakbo. Pero pag over 150kmh na. mukha pa rin d sya safe. So I just leave the high speed 200+khm to the real racing car driver. nood na lang ako pwede na.

You can't hit 200 km/h on the subic raceway or batangas... not unless you've got a supercar or a high powered sports car. Most of us can just about twig 160 - 170 km/h at the end of the main straight at BRC (on street tires, mind you... racing slicks would give you enough traction through the sweeper before the straight to carry more momentum through).

STAR is very bumpy. Unless you have a well-sorted car, it's not suited to high speed antics. The SLEX is worse.

The Skyway gives a smooth enough and wide enough road on the northbound side for hitting 200+ km/h speeds both before and after the gates. But it's uphill. Southbound is just a mess.

The NLEX is the easiest place to do it. There are unregulated stretches before Balintawak. You can do it on the NLEX per se, as there are long stretches where you can drive flat out, as they're smooth as marble.

And if you're lucky, you can get confirmation of your top speed off their radar gun as they write your ticket.

Briefly looked at the Carens on display at Trinoma. It uses a space saver spare tire pala. And if you get a flat, you are supposed to carry the flattened tire on the compartment behind the third row seats. It will fit standing up and Kia provides a detailed diagram of how you will use the provided straps to hold the tire in place as you rush to the nearest service station. hehehe. Kaya lang madudumihan ang interior.

At least you won't look like a pregnant cow the way Chevy tells later-model Corvette owners to still use the underbody carrier to carry the wide Corvette tires. hehehe.

I was wondering when you were going to mention the ticketing. hehehe.

All in all, talagang sa track pa din -- at least pag na-total ka, ikaw lang mag-isa. hahaha.

Di siguro madudumihan ang interior, Kia included a tire cover along with the strap. Di ko lang sure kung waterproof yung cover, i'll check later
