OT: Yes bro,- we're keenly looking at the Tucson CRDi... (3 year na rin this month ang aming Jazz)
And, yes, we bought our Starex (almost) 3 years ago. We were then inquiring about the CRDi variant, but the SA told us that it is not forthcoming and the quality of the diesel in the country may not be suitable for it.
So we settled for the only available (TCI) variant. A few weeks later,- inilabas na ang CRDi version. Whew! my first real bad experience with HARI!!!

Agree here bro. In our opinion then, CRDi was here years ago on the MB, so the 'risk', if ever there was,- was minimal....
It would have been a better buying experience if they told us that it was forthcoming, but they were running tests to make sure that the quality of the diesel here will be okay with it.
That would have given me all the necessary facts to decide wisely. And, they owe it to me, since I was (then) their prospective customer.
Just telling the facts here. Not ranting.
Anyway,- okay naman ako sa aking TCI.

Keeping it in the Hyundai family, eh? Hehehe! Nga lang, now that they're bringing in the Grand Starex, supply for the current Starex is limited. So time may be limited for the current Starex option.
I'm not too optimistic about a drastic reduction in the price of the Grand Starex. This being the case, I think it would be a better option to buy another ride and maintain your current Starex since it is still serving you well. As it is, the Grand Starex TCI is just too bare for its price, so if you were to get a Grand Starex, it should be a CRDi, and that'll probably hurt the wallet even more. At least with 2 cars, you won't need to have to drive a large van all the time.

hi guys,
am new here in this thread. share ko lang yung two experiences with the starex. bought the first one way back 1999. didn't like its performance but pinagtyagaan ko for 5 years. sinumpa ko that never na maghuhundai ulit ako. but one time i passed by a gray market starex dealer at quezon av and out of curiosity test drove a crdi starex. was impressed with the new engine so now i have been enjoying its ride for 3 + years. problems i encountered with the crdi starex? makina wala pa. had to replace ung headlight switch assmbly kc nasira nuong nilagyan ko mataas wattage headlight (hehehe fool me). so far no problem with the diesel fuel issue na palusot dati ng HARI when i first inquired about the starex CRDI....

October 17th, 2007 01:46 PM #538i don't see a reason why HARI changed the stock AM/FM/Tape/AUX HU with a AVT CD/MP3/AM/FM/DVD with SD card and USB slot when the former can play MP3s through the use of the AUX input at the lower right corner of the center console... nawalan na saysay yung AUX input ng Grand Starex kasi hindi naman pwedeng gamitin ng AVT HU yung AUX input...

got intrigued with the prospect. i wonder, would it be a good idea for a hard drive considering that the HU will be experiencing quite a few bumps during the normal course of the vehicle's operation?
so far, haven't heard of Hyundai CRDI engines encountering problems using our local diesels. they're holding up better than the toyotas that encountered the same thing.
I agree. Take the Guadalupe Bridge rehabilitation. That was announced at least a year before it was...
