I saw a HARI unit and a HVX unit from Standout parked side by side in the basement parking area of Medical City, I'm sure yung HARI unit is not the basic one, body colored kasi yung door handles. But one thing I could say about the HARI unit, wala talagang sinabi yung labas ng HARI compared sa HVX from Standout:

1. Ang pangit talaga ng antenna sa bubong ng HARI unit (this alone made me decide that I'm not gonna buy from HARI). The HVX looks so much sleeker as theres no "sore thumb" thats sticking out from the roof.
2.I don't know whats up with the painted piece of plastic located at the top of the tailgate. The HVX looks a LOT better with the rear spoiler with integrated 3rd brake light.
3. I think a van of this size should at least have rear wipers as standard. I know the CVX doesn't have this, but at least you could opt for the HVX in the gray market if you really want it. Unlike sa HARI, even the most expensive swivel model (P1.648M) doesn't have this.
4. The 17 inch rims of the HVX looks a lot better than the standard 16 inch rims.

Labas lang ang nakita ko, so I cannot comment on the interior. Pero the way I see it from the outside mukhang masyadong tinipid ng HARI yung G.S. for local consumption.

I think HARI will still stick to its business plan of selling inferior option of GS for maximum profit. GS is selling well in the market now. Not until they will be alarmed by the robust sales growth of the gray market dealers, that's the time they will come out with the same specs being sold in the gray market. I am also sure they were alarmed by the 3 years warranty being offered by these dealers. In fact think that's the only vehicle in the gray market now with 3 years warranty.

was called by our local HARI Hyundai dealer, I was informed that the GOLD edition was now available for P1,768,000.00 - Immediately I drove to the dealership in my HVX, I wasn't impressed with the HARI GOLD and was happy with my HVX.

the GOLD edition has all the features/amenties of HVX except:
a.)1 row of swiveling captain seats (missing/removed - HVX has 2 rows of captain seat.)
b.)dual sunroof
c.)17inch wheels

However the Gold edition compensates these with:
a.) a 10.2" ceiling mounted screen

****mas sulit pa rin HVX

I really think all this talk about which one is "better" or more "okay" should really be balanced with the idea that what is important for some people might not be very important for others.

Also I think we should compare apples to apples and not swivels to HVX's.

The HARI Gold Variant 1.768M (if they can discount this by their "normal" discount rates, then it would go down to P1.728) VS Pitstop's HVX+ Leather Seats w/o sunroof 1.79 (kung may discount, perhaps 1.78) that's a 52,000 peso spread, 22k if we just based it on srp to srp. When you talk about value and trash HARI for being profit centered, I'm at a loss why no one's giving Pitstop a hard time for being priced MORE expensive than the legitimate channel. Pitstop should represent the ultimate bang for the buck, but ironically it doesn't do that well. If you're gonna add value-added features, then it should be given for free, otherwise, then it should just remain an option and let the end-users decide whether to get it or not. But of course, Pitstop won't be able to do that because they are letting Hyundai Korea make the decision for them. Er, talk about cars having seat heaters in the Philippines...And one last things, HARI will always be either priced more expensive or have "inferior" features...think about it, if Pitstop and HARI were the exact same specs and same price, who in the world will buy from the gray market?!

I am not affiliated with HARI, I just don't think the discussions are very balanced, parang HARI is being ganged up on. Buti sana kamo if all the added features of Pitstop were FREE, eh mas mahal nga siya eh!

Plus of course, people who have ALREADY bought one or the other will have a more rabid tendency to defend their decision. People like me and ronw123w124 who are still planning to buy, will have a more "objective" POV...hehehe ron, like you, I had set my mind on getting from the gray, but after inspecting HARI's gold, I kinda defected to the other side, I strongly suggest you see a Gold variant in person and rethink your plans.

we are also in a dilemma whether to buy from HARI or pitstop pero what we like from the gray market is it's extra row of captain seats.(plus 100k daw sa HARI para sa ganung seating arrangement w/c makes it 1.868m for the gold variant vs. 1.79m for HVX + leather seats so mas mura pa rin siya kung titingnan mo.)

yung leather seats kasi at 10.2 in lcd para samin is madali na lang magpalagay nun unlike yung extra row of captain seats.

sa end of month pa naman kami bibili so mahaba pa ang time para mag decide.

I went to look at the GS gold sa Hyundai Marcos hi-way earlier this afternoon, although walang display unit, I asked the sales person kung anu ano yung mga added amenities, turn off nga lang ako kasi yung pinakaayaw ko na antenna sa roof present pa din sa GS gold. So I guess Pitstop it is for me.

Point well taken from sir meako..

Mapapaisip talaga kayo nyan mga sirs:
specially siguro sa mga prospective buyer between..

GS Gold (HARI) & GS HVX (Gray markeT)
GS Manual (HARI ) & GS CVX Manual (Gray Market)

Sarap magbalanse nyan kung anu ba talaga kuya?
anu mas matimbang na offer, features at mas pasok para sa puso nyo..

buti na lang yung requirements namin eh linoleum flooring, vgt & A/T
so CVX a/t (gray market won) agad..

between toyota grandia GL at starex lang naging dilemma namin..
still starex pa rin kinapuntahan kase super grandia lang me matic..

Im crossing my finger na wag magbigay malaki problema starex at yari ako sa tatay ko kase Grandia gusto nya kase daw TOYOTA!! Badge Power!!

anyway..
i don't know the extra features of what HARI gold offers and di ko pa nakita in personal... pero from what sir meako have said about it, okey na rin ang GOLD ni HARI, specially the ESP feature.. me rear wiper na ba gold?

for me, well its my opinion..siguro you wont go wrong na with GOLD or HVX..

enjoy na lang the starex and drive safe!!

My bro has an '05 Grandia GL and my mom has an '05 Starex GRX TCI, so far both vans have been trouble free and its because of this why I'm planning to get a GS HVX. I don't know if its just me, but I find the Grandia too squarish and to me it resembles a chest freezer, that's why I call my bro's van a chest freezer

OT: If I'm fond of calling the Grandia a chest freezer, I'm fond of calling the Suzuki APV an oven toaster

Standout Motors HVX is cheaper at 1,738,0000(non leather but with dual sunroof - price could still be lowered with discount) compared to Pitstop . I guess ronw123w124 is a wise shopper and naturally could see an offer that would really mean a "bang for your buck". I guess we are both critics of what the GOLD variant of HARI is compared to a better Grand Starex in the likeness of the HVX in terms of amenties and bang for your buck.

an extra row of leather captain seat could cost as much as 50k to 60k as quoted by Hyundai Global City and an upgrade of wheels and tires from 16" to 17" would cost an additional p10 to 15th; this would mean that in reality Grand Starex coming from either Pitstop or Standout would be way cheaper compared to HARI.

FYI:
Cheap rin ang nakalagay na 10.2 LCD screen - an unknown brand "AVT"???????
Another thing, masmaganda ang head unit ng HVX which is integrated compared to a 1-din hyundai head unit ng HARI.

At the end of the day, we may have different POV's but whats important is the contentment of every buyer to appreciate what they feel have justified their hard earned money(whether it maybe from HARI, STANDOUT, or PITSTOP) .

True, Standout may be cheaper but gives only 1 year warranty unlike Pitstop which gives out 3 years warranty so I think Pitstop is the safer bet here.

The sales person from Hyundai Marcos Hi-Way from whom I inquired about the Gold variant told me that the roof antenna is still present in the Gold variant. The presence of the antenna itself helped me with my decision just to purchase from Pitstop, I don't know, but I really find it like a sore thumb that's sticking out on the roof. Another thing is the Gold variant still has the same 16 inch wheels as the lower variants do as stated by one of the posters in this thread, which I think detracts from the overall appearance of the GS as opposed to having the 17 inch wheels that is standard on the HVX variants.

Another thing is the standard HU on HARI units which looks really CHEAP. IMO, the cassette player of the CVX variant looks more decent than the AVT unit supplied in HARI units.

Wow! These are great responses from very well informed peeps. Thanks.

Edsgail and others: Pano po yan, eh sabi ng kumander ko, gusto daw nya yung malaking seat sa front passenger side, para kung sakali eh puede tatlo sa front including driver, just like our old starex. Wala bang ganyang option sa Grey market?

Kind of wonder how come HARI still sticks to the roof mounted antenna? Or maybe intended for our local radio frequencies. May i ask owners of GS with glass mounted antenna is there any abnormality in receiving radio signals on your unit? Coz roof mount antenna is almost a thing of the past especially for expensive vehicles and I'm sure it will not cost much to change to glass mounted one unless again they intend to maximize their earnings. My opinion is not to malign the good name of HARI in fact I admire them for coming out with some reputable vehicles like the Santa Fe, Veracruz & etc.

Totally agree with you chad777. In fact the 3rd row Captain Seats, providing comfort and recline was my main consideration for going with Pitstop at first. But when I rethought about it, the van will mainly be used by me and my wife (with driver) tapos weekends with the kids with me driving. So, I won't really get to sit on the third row. But for those na maraming sasakay, I could imagine the 3rd Captain Row being a major value add. The 17" inch difference is also one of aesthetics that I personally don't/can't appreciate, I have never in my life changed any of my vehicle's stock rims, just like the sunroof it's completely Greek to me, di ko ma gets.

With regards to the cheap LCD, actually that wasn't on my wish list cause I use a portable hdd touchscreen Archos player, but a bit of a deal breaker for me was the HU of the HVX does NOT have a remote! Just like I guess the ugly antenna is a deal breaker for some, the lack of a remote is just unthinkable for me. My 2nd generation Camry (replacement for the 1st gen that I wrecked 3 days after I brought it home...long story) also did NOT have a remote, sobrang nakakainis!! You reach over to adjust the volume and then BAM your driver slams on the brakes...arghghghghghg. You park over a million big ones on a vehicle and they can't give you a friggin' remote!

WEll I just noticed it recently that the AM radio frequency has a weak signal on my window mounted antenna but the FM has no problem. I will have pitstop check it out first so I won't conclude that it is the reason for the weak radio signal. I had changed the tape radio to CD radio with aux (gusto wife ko may CD) baka mali kabit ng pitstop and then had the window tinted baka naputol yung small wire na nakakabit sa window mounted antenna. Will let you know guys the result of their (pitstop) check up. At least I will know how good their service is.
