Remote bypass oil filtration

Your absolutely wasting your money run them both 10,000kms. Some vehicles will have black oil no matter what unless you have true 2 micron bypass filter. Cumming diesels here in the states turn the oil black in 1 day even with a synthetic media filter. That's just how it is. But they still do 12000km oil change intervals.

Thanks doc. Maybe thats just how CRDI's is, non CRDI's are not as dark as observed.. And gas engines remains as golden oil for a long time.. I'L just stick to 5k filter interval on manual just to be safe.

it is a cartidge filter body, you can find it at Ace Hardware. Best installed reverse that of the water filtration normal use. Just insert a tube/pipe to direct the flow downwards first before it exits otherwise it'll just short circuit the flow. The objective is for the blowby containing mist will downward until the bottom and when it it flows upward the oil droplets will be left behind by gravitational pull. The longer cartridge the better.

Those are 100% Baldwin filters, there has not been a issue with Volmax with Baldwin Filters, That Bosch filter looks like crap compared to the Baldwins, No crimped gaskets, some weird plastic looking thing in the first part of the filter, wonder if that's part of the bypass section or not. Plus far less flow since it has fewer holes for flow. The overseas Bosch are not the same quality as the US made filters. Would be interested on what that looks like cut open.

Nice! Saw one in Ace, I guess they're too tall for my engine bay, but I did saw a short one that could maybe fit. So you take out the filter, and place a long tube almost bottoming out in place of it?

Thanks CB. Ill try out Top1 soon. Although Ill most likely get from the states. A lot cheaper. I get Mobil 1 FS oils for the LC's at only about $20 for 4.73liters/5quarts. So ill also get the Mobil TDT oil from there.

OT - I'm not selling my extra set of tools for our Gen2.5. I'm keeping it as a spare set. PM perazi in 4x4ph. He sells these from time to time. Will pass on the aluminum rad for the 4m40. I have an ongoing restoration project - restoring my dedicated trail rig now - Samurai - so funds are reserved for that.

dvldoc there is a cut open picture of bosch oil filter a few pages back. its also a locally bought oil filter. i will try to look for the oil filter part number of the 4M40 engine for the Royal Purple oil filter counter part. and have it shipped here nalang

Royal purple does not have a filter to fit the 4M40, it's not a common sized filter used in the US.

Here is the post of miked. This is a Bosch for the 4d56 engine. But it can also fit the 4m40 but it's smaller so I don't think it should be done if you're gonna use it for more than 5,000kms.

At least Bosch is better than Vic.

Looks like a pretty solid oil, but that depends on what your using it for, for a diesel engine I would use something with a better API rating. especially if it's a older diesel. Zinc is 1002ppm and Phos 920ppm and 7ppm boron great oil for a gas engine though. and TBN of 9.8 is not bad but most Diesel oils are 10 and higher. I would not use it in a vehicle that does not have roller lifters like most older diesels do.

But as I said perfect for any modern gas engine.

I have the Bosch oil filter now on the Pajero Gen 2.5. Since it's not that good I'll stick to just 4,000 km OCI for now. Will extend it to 8,000-10,000 km with the Baldwin BD 28.

Also got today from Superior Motors 2 Wix oil filters - a 51515 for the LC 80 and a 51348 for the LC 100. I'm now collecting oil filters like you Doc. Hehe.

Doc, for the LC's I've been using Mobil 1 High Mileage Fully Synthetic oil. API rating of SL/CF. Is this a good oil? What Group/Class does it belong to? On a Toyota OEM oil filter + Mobil 1 HM FS oil I do a 6,000km OCI. Can I extend this to 12,000 km OCI with the Baldwin, Fleetguard, or Wix filters? Thanks.

Hi CB. I do send my Mobil 1 oils via Balikbayan box. From time to time I also include Castrol/Mobil 1 Hypoy/Hyphoid Gear oils for my rigs differentials. No issue naman. I use either Manila Forwarders or Alas. Been doing this since 2002. Charge is about $70 for the jumbo box. I have a friend in LA who gets the oils from Walmart (in 4.73 liter/5 quart bottles) and he packs it properly in the Balikbayan box. The forwarder then picks up the box from his house and ships it to my Manila address.

Shipping takes about 4 weeks on average - delivered straight to my house. Takes longer during the Christmas season. HTH.

Hi. Airlines do not allow oils even sa checked in luggage. Don't ship it on line. Ship it via a jumbo Balikbayan box. I'm able to get 9-10 bottles (4.73 liters/5 quarts per bottle) + at least 10 to 15 one liter bottles of gear oils into one jumbo Balikbayan box. Cost of the jumbo BB is only $70. So the value equation is still very good. The Mobil 1 FS oil in 4.73 liter/5 quart bottle cost only about $20 in Walmart stores - that's only P900 for almost 5 liters.

Yes sir, but still best if you fit in a longer casing. Remember the longer the flow upward the better chances of leaving behind those oil droplets.
