Nagpa-order pa lang ako sensor. I plan to have it installed during my 1K check-up.

The parts supervisor raised some issues on the installation of back-up sensors. Apparently, they'll have to kill the back-up beeping that comes standard in the RP variants. The standard beeping sound tends to drown-out the beeping sound from the back-up sensors daw.

How does the sensor work in your unit? Does it beep along with the back-up beep or did OTIS kill the back-up beeping sound?

I had mine installed by the dealer for 8K. It's not OEM (but since dealer installed does not void my warranty) but is actually better. It's the six sensor type (front and back) with HUD in the form of a clipon rearview mirror. Very happy with it and you can choose to switch off the beep since meron visual indicator that even estimates actual distance and location of obstruction. The OEM is a 2 sensor beeper which you have to manually switch on. Not even sure if already available locally.

If you will have the sensor installed, the mirror will be redundant. Sorry no idea where to get Carryboy accessories.

*trader: That back-up sensor of yours sounds nice! Which dealer did you get it from (PM me naman and tell me sino hahanapin)? Having a HUD does seem a lot better, not to mention the fact that you can turn-off the beeping ('coz the reverse beep is already noisy enough).

Ok guys, here's the updated list. beebs is the 1st 4x2 D4D in the Future Owners List. We still have no final confirmation if it's 2.5L or 3.0L, A/T or M/T. So, let's leave it at 4x2 D4D, for now.

Had the reverse sensors installed at the casa and cost was about P6.5K.

According to my source from Toyota Makati, come September, their allocation of Fortuner will be increased from 16 to 32. Most of the dealers daw magiging 32 (Manila Bay, Otis, Shaw, etc.). Provincial branches daw will be increased to 15 (from 6 to 8 depending on location). He said that Toyota Thailand will finally be able to (at the least) meet the demand halfway.

What is the rule for the No plate no travel policy, are we given a window to use the car before the plate arrive?

The window is 7 calendar days from the date on the delivery/sales invoice. Katakot nga eh. My plates were available from LTO after 10 calendar days. But, my agent gave them to me after 8 more days! That's 18 days from the date on my delivery/sales invoice.

I was just lucky not to be spotted by the NPNT cops!

1. How's your unit so far? Pls share with us anything especially problems, gripes, dislikes, etc.

2. Is it really worth the extra 300K to get the diesel? Not into off-roading or 4WD systems, so it boils down to engine performance of gas vs. diesel. My greatest concerns with diesel are the massaging vibrations, woodpecker noise, emission of black smoke with age, as well as the supposed higher maintenance cost with diesel engines. Does the diesel engine of the Fortuner act like a stereotypical diesel engine.

3. How's the front wheel well cover coming along? Is there really one that was removed from the factory?

no mods as of the moment.. but am thingkin of changing the grill n installing a spotlight on the roof rail.
i hav seen a clamping mechanism for pulling trailers installed on another fortuner "silver" along timog avenue(sayang naman if we cant utilize power of our D4d ) Does anyone know where i can get one of those?

from which dealer kaya? n where is ur HUD located? did ur delaer turn off the reverse beeping sound upon installation of the backup sensor? tnx again.
