Petron to sell bottled CME biodiesel in all retail outlets

Petron Corp. has signed a distributorship agreement with a coco-methyl ester (CME) supplier to sell bottled CME in all its retail stations nationwide.

Energy Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla said this development "is a clear manifestation of their support to President Arroyo’s energy independence program."

Partly government-owned Petron also recently inked a contract to supply the pre-blended coco-diesel requirements of state-owned National Power Corp. (Napocor).

Lotilla said the coco-biodiesel needs of the state-run power generation company will be used in its vehicles.

Under the contract, Petron will supply about 180,000 liters of coco-methyl ester or coco-biodiesel to Napocor.

Lotilla said it was, however, specified in the contract between Petron and Napocor that the risk of using such product will be shouldered by the buyer and not by the supplier.

The government through Executive Order 126, mandates all government agencies and offices to reduce their electricity and fuel consumption by 10 percent while Administrative Order 110 establishes the government energy management program.

For its part, the Department of Energy (DOE) had mandated the use of coco-biodiesel for blending with diesel in government vehicles.

The department is currently working towards mandating bio-ethanol blending with gasoline for government vehicles.

A mandate for a one percent blend of PNS-compliant CME in diesel will bring about a very significant 10-30 percent increase in mileage.

A minimum 10 percent mileage increase is seen to deliver actual savings to motorists of at least P150 per 50-liter full tank at prevailing diesel prices.

This results to savings of about P16 billion in diesel import costs per year for the whole country and 30-60 percent less emissions from all diesel engines in use.

The DOE has been encouraging the private sector to continue helping the government spur the development of these alternative fuels.

In August last year, oil companies committed to make available bottled CME in their retail stations nationwide.

So far, independent players like Seaoil, Flying V, and Eastern Petroleum have been selling bottled CME in their retail stations nationwide.

Aside from selling bottled CME, Flying V, on the other hand, is selling one percent pre-blended CME in their pump station.

yes m possitively sure exit at mabalakat i drove it slowly to 170kph & it can go up but i hessitated,,, 4 adult & full of baggage. A ford everest is tailing me but no luck he's around 20 cars away. BTW my ODO meters reads 15++ only. break-in period..

Di na man siguro.

I know 3 owners with greyish brown units: (1 in the neighboring town 2.5G D4D, a Doctor friend has 3.0G D4D and an importer neighbor also has 3.0G D4D). I've talked with all of them and they are very satisfied with their units and NO problems encountered.

Obviously they are not tsikot members.

Meron ako sometimes "Thud" sound from my rear suspension whenever i release my brakes, especially when its loaded. my friend told me it could be the brakes getting locked or something.

meron na akong naririnig na crunching sound sa rear brakes... any idea what this sound could be. I doubt if this is the ABS kasi naririnig ko sya kapag mabagal na ako.

have TOYOTA adjust your rear brakes. it happened to me when my unit is still on the hundreds palang.

At what setting do you leave the transfer case in, upon parking the Fortuner? "H" or "N"? When not using the vehicle, is it a normal pratice to leave the transfer case in "H" or "N"?

For 4WD drive owners,

At what setting do you leave the transfer case in, upon parking the Fortuner? "H" or "N"? When not using the vehicle, is it a normal pratice to leave the transfer case in "H" or "N"?

Just leave in H. You only shift to N when transferring from HL to LL when going off-road. For normal driving conditions just leave it H, regardless of whether your unit is parked or moving. Fixing the settings that way will make for lesser mistakes.

Just leave the t/case on "H". "N" is pretty useless unless you plan to tow the vehicle.

"N" was originally used as the t-case position when using a PTO (power take off) winch. Fortuners do not have a PTO shaft and is not designed to accept a PTO winch. But the "N" is still there.
