Originally Posted by letranboy

I would assume that the owner of the particular 3.0V you saw has not been following the regular schedule for vehicle maintenance. Toyota's D4-D engines are suppose to have lesser carbon emissions than an average diesel engine.Originally Posted by number001
Anyway, mine so far doesn't emit black exhaust. And, I back into a white wall when parking my unit in the garage. No signs of carbon on my garage wall (not like when I still owned a Gemini Diesel).Drawback lang talaga sa diesel is the smelly exhaust.

The Fortuner I saw is quite new, maybe around 3 months old. Plate number is ZCK-*&*. Ok, what I mean by smoky is that I can actually see white smoke being emitted from the exhaust. When it accelerated away, you see even more white smoke coming out (almost particle-like in appearance but I'm sure they are not). Is this normal for a diesel? Btw, I have never owned a diesel and the sighting disturbingly reminded me of those dilapidated buses in EDSA which emitted black smoke everytime they accelerated.Originally Posted by vicoyski
With gas vehicles, I'm used to not seeing any smoke coming out of the exhaust (an exception is during the winter or when the weather is quite cold).
I'm just a bit concerned because I dont like the look (and smell) of smoky cars (stereotypical old cars in movies) and problems might crop up with emissions testing later on. There is also the fact that one must need to let the vehicle idle after use, to care for the turbo and I dont want the garage or driveway to be filled with smoke. That's all.
The gas vvti variant will take forever to own so I'm still weighing the options bet. it and the 3.0V.![]()
halos pareho lang naman sila. diesel and gas. mahal nga ang gasoline but in long run mas ok sya. kasi for me diesel has more maintainance kasi. gas tahimik and less usok.
baka may sira ang valve seal or piston rings kaya white smoke ang lumalabas sa tambutsto(tama ba spelling?). if oil seeps through the combustion chamber i'm sure white smoke ang effect at mababawasan ang oil(check the dip stick). top overhaul ang solution kung yun nga ang problema.
Most common cause of smoke in a brandnew car is fuel contamination.
I cant understand why its been said over and over that diesel engine is more costly to maintain. My Fortuner is my 4th diesel powered vehicle (Mazda B2200, L300 VV & Revo). The usual PMS is just oil change + filter. Unlike my Civic VTi which includes spark plugs and engine oil + filter.
Diesel engines are designed to last longer. Yon nga lang, its very noisy. But if you compare mileage & maintenance - sa diesel ako. These are just my personal experiences.
gud am fellow tsikoteers, i just got my unit yesterday, its a 3.0v silver.
wow dadami nanaman tayo. chen congrats. chen check mo lahat ng parts and performace ng fortuner mo. kasi yung iba kasi may sira yung part or accessories. pag may nakita kang mali try mo kaming ask for some info. or try mo ask yung SA mo. but 99.9% sasabihin nya na normal yun.Originally Posted by chen

sakin naman pagnaka set sa foot yung vent ng aircon and naka at least 3 yung fan speed, may air din nalumalabas sa windshield vents. i asked the SA about it kanina sa 1T checkup nung unit and i aadjust lang daw yung flaps ng aircon. problem is kakalasin yung dashboard and pinapaiwan sakin yung unit overnight. i told him na next week ko na lang ipapaayos yung air flaps at marami akong lakad.Originally Posted by herbularyo
Also pansin ko din na pag naka set yung vents na sabay yung sa console and foot blower, medyo mahina yung buga sa foot blower ko. probably because of faulty air flaps din.
I think that is normal, the volume of air from the blower will be divided into more number of vents / outlets so natural lang na mag-decrease yong flow. Just like the water in our faucet mas mahina kung sabay ang pagbukas.Originally Posted by monpogi

monpogi, am experiencing the same. Buti syo sabi ng SA faulty, sakin normal lang daw. Pero just the same, if I decide to have it checked/repaired kelangan talaga iwanan. I still don't know when I will be able to have it serviced. Do keep us posted on the results after mo ipagawa. In case mauna ako, I'll post my comments din. Thanks, bro!Originally Posted by monpogi
try nyo pa gawa sa ortigas or shaw blv. wag sa toyota otis, cause malamang 2 days nila papaiwan yan. yung akin nga passenger seat sensor adjustment lang kailanagan 2 days pa. sobra naman yata yun. i dont know if they want it in good quality or tinatamad lang sila gawin. ok na sana eh medyo badtrip pa yung service personel nila hindi accumudating well bahala na sa kanila si lord
last week while cruising southbound along NLEX, may nakipagkarera sa akin na ford expedition. i was cruising at 140 kph and was about to overtake it. ayaw pumayag magpa-overtake so i floored my 2.7 vvti baby and ayun, iwan siya, he he. :car:
helo guys just came back from BAguio, yap the fortuner is a ahead turner, but its gonna be a bed rest for me when i got home from my trip, its super bouncy in running at 100 to 120 at tarlac... where ful pack with cargo at the 3rd row, and 2 persons in the 2nd row. its still bouncy,,, but the engine reponse n breaks systems ther great no comment... when i got it to NLEX around 10:50pm i tried it to 170 no problem....its very stable...btw my ride is a 2.7vvti..the consumption i think is around 9.8liter/km.
