apologies in advance for the long post.
i've been a lurker for so long and this thread was actually the one which convinced me to buy an innova last august 2006. i got the vvti G version A/T and im satisfied with the comfort of the vehicle. this is my first time by the way to write a very detailed post.
this morning (21 may) i went to toyota commonwealth to have my 10,000km checkup. i was second in line and i arrived at 730am. i reserved this slot last week pa. since my 5,000km checkup i had complained of an occasional metal on metal sounding "dugudug" in my front, which the commonwealth people weren't able to locate. they tightened bolts and everything, but the problem persisted. it occured only during high speed (60km plus) and on consistently bumpy roads. it was annoying in the sense that it was there and it wasn't fixed during the 5,000 checkup.
so i informed the SA again of the problem and we test drove it at around 8:30am. hindi namin narinig ung problema but the technician who rode with me said they will check thoroughly. i was later advised that my front shock (right side) was leaking. i've read about this known issue of the innova in this thread, and i didn't imagine i'd personally experience it. i doubt though if ito talaga iyong problema, but a leaking shock was a big problem nonetheless.
iyong dapat na short service to replace oil, filter and spark plugs ay tumagal ng hanggang 1pm halos. i was fuming mad when i saw my vehilce's hood open for several hours tapos nung halos mag-aalas dose na ng tanghali pinalitan sabay ng oil, filter at ng spark plugs. ang paliwanag ni "anthony" one of the technicians e something about the oil filter, which was ridiculous. i raised my voice in the cashier/service area decrying the very sloppy service. imagine papupuntahin ka ng 730am e lunch time pa pala papalitan ung dapat palitan, at nireklamo ko pa kaya nila minadali. walang change oil and tuneup na tumatagal ng 5 oras! i was 2nd in line and even assuming that it takes toyota an hour to do the whole process plus another hour of waiting dapat 10am natapos na. sheer incompetence and lack of regard for a customer. anyone who has a changeoil and tuneup even in a gasoline station knows that it takes 30 minutes tops to do the whole procedure.
to top it off, wala raw stock iyong shocks and they need to order it. nung naka alis na ako and after i have said more angry words at them nagtext ung isang girl from the shop na in a few days daw darating ung "shock". in the singular tense yan. so i replied na di ba dapat kung magpapalit ng shock always in pairs. biglang nagbago ung tono at nireplyan ako na iaadvise na lang daw nila ako ASAP.
i just want to share this story. have your shocks checked baka may tagas. and dont stand for crappy service. i wanted to talk to the manager kanina pero anong sagot -- out for lunch daw. galing nila di ba?

tsk! tsk! tsk! kainis talaga pag ganyan yong effort mo na dumating ng maaga para matapos agad are all in vain because of the so so reason which is obviously alibi lang...imagine nung nagalit ka it takes 1 hour lang to finish huh! mine is due for pms next month binura ko na sa listahan yang toyota commonwealt, toyota alabang, alin pa kaya?...
OT: Happy Birthday Larshell.....

Sorry to hear about your sad experience.
Most of my PMS (I'm now nearing 45,000 kms) were done in Toyota Commonwealth but never experienced this with my ride.
Pag duon ako nag-PMS, I go there at around 7 AM (on Saturdays) and get my unit at around 10:00 AM.
For convenience, I might transfer to Toyota Makati. I just leave the car in the morning, go to my office and work, and go back to get my car in the afternoon.
good morning sirs,
im from cebu city and about to get my innova j gas this coming friday. could you please advise me on what to check on the unit before i drive it out of the casa? this is our first family car aside from my jeep and i don't know much about cars esp. innova. Thank you very much.
Actually I have checklist before what to check before bringing it out of xcasa...
But out of excitement....
was able to check 1/2 of my list... anyway there's warranty naman on your ride to cover any defects...
most impt is the keys, since your unit is J varaiant, you will have 2 pcs only, cause for G variant you will 3 pcs key with the 2 pcs with built-in power lock already..
enjoy your neww Innova.... and welcome...

My unit is from TMBC with firts 1KM done there. The succeeding every 5KM PMS were all done at Toyota Makati, leave the car in the morning go to office and pick it up in the afternoon.
I don't need to wait, the Service Advisor will call me once it is ready for pick up, and it is walking distance from my office![]()
Experience ko kasi pag ikaw ay naghihintay lahat ng mali sa ginagawa nila makikita mo, at ikaw din ang ma-stress, kaya after that iniiwan ko na lang ang car para less stress sa akinI just check the body of my car, then the interior and those under the hood before I leave the shop.
sir, pagkuha ko sa casa ng sasakyan, diretso na ako sa Mags and Tire supplier. Since J variant yung unit ko, na trade-in ko yung tires (Yokohama Aspec, 205/65/15) and rim for P10,000. Yung Mags cost me P28,800 then P6,730 each na BS Potenza G3 tires. Ok din 50 series kaso alam mo naman road condition sa atin.
Eto yung pic.
sir, usually pag may excitement, nakakalimot tayo sa pag-check ng ating car.
Anyway, yung Sales Agent mo should help and explain first the features and other items sa loob ng sasakyan mo. Ikutan mo yung sasakyan mo for any scratches kasi kahit bago yan, may chances sa matamaan sa loob ng casa.
Check the odometer reading. Usually yan mga 50-60 KMs, based from mga Service Advisors (SA) na mga nakakwentuhan ko. I just don't know sa Cebu kasi definitely galing din dito sa Laguna Plant yan. Wala sila usually na car carrier.
Check mo din mga interior for any dirt or damage. 3 Keys ang J. Isa yung may rubber.
Nagpalagay ka ba ng accessories?
Hi all,
I am going to get my innova g d4d a/t today and was wondering kung kailangan pa bang lagyan ng lock yun spare tire natin. Madali lang ba itong nakawin and where is the best place to but the lock. TIA
Josh
It will be up to you as owner if you want your spare tire spared. the best I would recommend is to install a spare tire lock (branded Solex) to your brand new spare tire. It's been an issue here in this forum regarding pilferage of spare tires so if you don't want to count in as one of the victims, better do so. Mine was stolen secured with chain and padlocks, what should you expect with just a bare stock chain and lowering/hoisting mechanisms?
