The VW diesels are 15k km or 12 months whichever comes first. I think the new VW gas cars are those that follow that.

What interval do you follow bro?

Do you base it on time or distance or when you just feel like it?

I do it every 5k kms regardless of the time factor. Or 1 year regardless of the distance factor.

And of course, synthetic. Either rotella or red line.

I’m still within warranty and I follow the 6-month PMS cycle. In those 6 months, it’s between 6k to 7k km.

My other car which is out of warranty, I change oil every 12 months which covers around 10k km.

Both my cars require fully synthetic, low viscosity engine oils.

I see. Thanks a lot bro!

Also, the old EJ seems to run better smoother and quieter on 10W-40 oils.

The FA20DIT requires FS 5w30 API SN-RC (ILSAC GF5) with 5w40 as an alternative viscosity. The FB20 (non turbo Foresters and XV) requires FS 0w20 with 5w30 as the alternative.

question regarding our FXT, if from a long drive around 200 km (3 hours, tplex-sctex- nlex- edsa) can we immediately turn off the engine once we arrived at our destination after engaging into park mode? or do we need to cool down first the engine for a few minutes( idling) ?

After a long drive or a blast through the highway, you can run the car gently the last 10-15 min before you reach your destination. This will help cool down your turbo and you can safely turn off the engine upon arrival.

Let it idle for a few minutes to cool the turbo. Assuming you have the current gen FXT, it comes with a turbo gauge. At idle, boost pressure should be -0.70 to -0.74 bar. After a long drive, let the engine idle until it reaches that stable idle boost pressure.
