July 25th, 2018 09:42 AM #2965for 50km pms na unit ko pero nasa 35k palang odometer reading i was advise sa MI service na due for radiator coolant replacement na daw. They will bleed the coolant daw ang replace a fresh one, procedure will take almost a day daw kasi meticulous daw ang pagpapalit ng coolant as there should be no air present, will charge P7,100.00 coolant and labor included. my question is, is it really needed, wala naman ako na experience na engine overheating, napapanis ba talaga ang coolant? and baka lang lalo mag ka problem? im having this "why fix if not broken" thinking kasi.
thanks

I was just at Motor Image BGC yesterday for my 24-month PMS and they also told me that on my next PMS, they will already change the coolant. The cooling system requires 9L of coolant and they are selling it at around 600 per liter. They suggested the coolant change within the PMS schedule so that it will be included in the cost of the 30-month PMS. Like any other fluid in a vehicle, it needs to be changed so it a necessary activity in maintaining a vehicle.
They said they have a cheaper concentrate option instead of the high temp coolant and it is up to me to choose which one. They did suggest the high temp one for my FXT. However, I am free to bring my own coolant if I don't want to purchase it from them. I found a Peak high temp coolant at Roadstar for around 300 per liter. I look for other options so that it will be cost effective on my end.

Iirc, based on the manual. First time replacement of coolant should be at 132 months(11 tears), or at 220,000 kms.
Pls. check your manuals.

Um ... maybe to make more money? ...
It says in the manual that you should only use Subaru Long Life coolant ... some coolants have certain chemicals that can corrode the metal in the engine ...
No, but it was what sounded closest to Bill, bill. Ha ha ha!
