June 29th, 2018 12:05 PM #2914I stand corrected. It's only 250k discount in cash and "50k" worth of freebies..
Any idea on how much allocation should I save for gas and maintenance monthly?
Working at Makati from Las Pinas - a friend advised me to alot P800/day.
I know that this is an elite car for the elite but is there no way that it's for commoners too? haha.
That makes me want to wait and save (for 1-2 years more) for the Diesel CRV.
Please help esp. the owners! Thanks!

That is a good discount already. It is expensive to maintain so you need to prioritize your spending. I travel very close to work but I spend P1K/week on gas because of traffic. PMS every 6 months *P5K sa casa. Fluid change would be expensive though. Good luck.

Roundtrip Makati to Las Pinas is about 45 km/day. The non-turbo Forester gets around 6-7 km/L in those driving conditions if rush hour.
So that's more or less 400 pesos a day. If you get a gas guzzling cheap car like a Rush, you'll also spend the same on gas. So no, the Forester is not an elite car - just the same consumption as any car with a 2.0 gas engine.
Yes, the CRV diesel is much cheaper to run on a daily basis than a Forester or any gas CUV, but the 300k price difference net of discounts between a Forester 2.0iP and CRV 1.6S will take around 5-6 years to recover. If you're keeping the car longer than that, then it's a sensible proposition. Otherwise, just relish in the fact that the gas fed CUVs are so much cheaper.

I live in Paranaque and I work in BGC. On a daily basis, that would be around 50 km round trip. My FXT averages around 6-7 km/L on the usual weekday route. I don't do the daily gas calculation thing but follows more the full tank method. The normal 50L full tank load is good for around 300 to 350 km.
Take the expressway as it helps in improving fuel efficiency. The longest part of my daily route is the most efficient in terms of fuel consumption. Fuel efficiency drops as soon as I am crawling in BGC/Makati traffic and Sucat evening traffic.
Same with Jut, Subies are not elite cars. It is not as common as the usual Toyota or Honda but build quality is a lot better when you compare it to likes of a Vios or City. An Accord or Mazda6 or Camry feels more premium inside compared to a Forester or XV.

Best to save more to get the Honda CRV diesel ... it's more comfortable and the interior is better ...
