kahit wala pa ung actual na bakuna... ung balita palang is enough for people to come out of hiding

I think China is trying to divert the blame. I wouldn’t trust the source, South China Morning Post.

SCMP is a Hong Kong-based media outlet so not directly under the Communist Party's control.

Although fair to be wary because it's owned by Alibaba, I've been following SCMP even pre-covid and their articles have been generally neutral.

In a more autonomous HK, SCMP could have more journalistic freedom.

But now with China in HK and far easier to extradite to the mainland to face prosecution for "crimes against the state," the situation has definitely changed

I agree. Hong Kong of late is not the Hong Kong of old, SCMP included. It is very hard to believe anything that comes out of China.

    western media reported it

and if anyone bothered to read beyond the headline the research was done in the US by US scientists

they wanted to know if antibodies to SARSCOV2 can be found in blood samples collected before the first reported case in the US (January 20, 2020)

they analyzed 7000+ blood donations to the American Red Cross before that date and found about a hundred with SASCOV2 antibodies

Their conclusion is SARSCOV2 arrived in the US earlier than the 1st reported case

THEY DID NOT SAY THE VIRUS ORIGINATED IN THE US

THEY DID NOT SAY THE VIRUS DIDN'T COME FROM CHINA

their goal was NOT to look for the origin of the virus

they only wanted to know if the virus came to the US earlier than thought

mag basa muna bago mag jump to conclusion

Anything from China is always treated with skepticism, be it food, tools, gadgets, appliances, cars, promises, press release. You name it.
