just do this simple experiment. wear your face shield then disperse some perfumed talcum powder into the air. do you really think a face shield can block aerosols

Face shield policy, pride lang kaya hindi binabawi yan, just like ung motorcycle shield kahit asawa mo angkas mo. In fact, galing ako sa hospital, lahat ng doctor at staff dun walang face shield

let us not confuse in-effectivity with in-correct wear.

the more people refuse to wear theirs, the more i want to wear mine.

There's a reason why face shields aren't required by the WHO. The added effectiveness just doesn't merit its mandatory use.

You can argue that walking around in a full race helmet + face mask is better at protecting against covid than just a face mask alone. But again - the added utility doesn't pay out.

1 year into the COVID new world order, and people are already getting restless - looking to travel, socialize, eat outside. Adding more restrictions will just lead to poorer compliance - better to focus on the key proven factors to mitigate spreading of the virus - face mask, social distancing, avoiding indoor spaces, good hand hygiene.

Eh ngayon, daming nagsasabing di na kailangan ng social distancing kasi may face mask at face shield naman daw. [emoji28]

    Moderna the gamechanger

latest from the 30,000 participant clinical trial

196 got symptomatic covid, 185 were in the placebo group, only 11 in the vaccine group

    that's 94.1% efficacy

30 cases were severe -- lahat sa placebo group

that's 100% protection against severe covid

    well,
i feel that this virus is one of the most contagious diseases with proven fatality rates, to ail mankind.
i will probably keep wearing my face shield, even if it is declared optional.
four of my colleagues died, and two escaped by the skin of their teeth.
    i'm scared.

Yep, better to be running scared and over protect.

Just like activities with risk and danger to life, there are safety redundancies.

As they say: better to have it and not use it than have the need to use it and not have it.

Not everyone in public had themselves tested for Covid & we don’t know how many asymptomatics there are walking around. Not everyone will submit to a test when they feel any of the symptoms & many will not quarantine themselves when they feel sick. How often have I experienced someone coughing or sneezing in public? That being said, I’d rather wear a shield & mask. I don’t think I can live with the fact that I unknowingly got myself infected & transmitted the disease to my family. Just that thought makes me more vigilant.

Face shields are made of plastics.

Coronavirus and Surfaces: How Long Does COVID-19 Live on Surfaces?

If you religiously disinfect it every time you use it, then it’s ok. If not, then you have a higher chance of getting the virus from these shields than being protected from it.

Correct. Same disinfecting and sanitizing protocol should be followed otherwise the protection will be for naught.

On this note, I wonder how many people use and reuse and reuse their disposable face masks

    Food
    Examples: takeout, produce
Coronavirus doesn't seem to spread through food.

Dahil naluto na siguro? Kaya pala ang lakas ng food deliveries.

^agree, in the mall, I saw an elderly woman being handed a face shield by a store clerk, she obviously left it behind, if you have to be strict about it, nobody should touch it except you, and the fact that she left it, means it was placed on a table which could possibly be infected.
