But we do not know the true infection rate of the country because not everyone have been tested. We are only extrapolating from the numbers of those who got tested.

sharing covid protocols is all over the place, probably more commonly than the common tao imagines. what with internet...

    sharing protocols is one thing.
following protocols strictly, is another thing.

we can extrapolate from the number of deaths

since meron estimate ang infection fatality rate

    Estimating mortality from COVID-19
Serological testing of a representative random sample of the population to detect evidence of exposure to a pathogen is an important method to estimate the true number of infected individuals [7,8,9]. Many such serological surveys are currently being undertaken worldwide [10], and some have thus far suggested substantial under-ascertainment of cases, with estimates of IFR converging at approximately 0.5 - 1%[10-12].
    2,270 deaths is 0.5% of ______________

    2,270 deaths is 1% of ______________

pero syempre we're not sure if the official number of deaths is correct

meron mga namatay sa covid na hindi naisama sa bilang so the number is higher

Yes. Herd immunity for a population of 100M means many deaths.

they have things we don't have...

like a much smaller population and smaller geographical area so easier to manage

they have competent gov't with $$$

    world class healthcare system

an educated population that trusts their competent gov't (cooperation)

herd immunity only occurs if people gets immunity against the virus either through infection or vaccine.

    wala tayong vaccine.

infection doesnt seem to make us immune to it either.

so I wont count on herd immunity. jan nadale ang sweden - counting on herd immunity.

And every nationality/race may have different reactions to the sarscov2. Using the general infection fatality rate might not be accurate for some countries. Baka mas kaya ng katawan ng pinoy ang sarscov2 kaya mababa ang death rate.

In most countries, especially the rich countries, you have to call in sick when you have the flu. Dito sa atin, tuloy lang trabaho, tuloy lang gimmick, tuloy lang attend ng party, and most people don't even mind na may ubo at sipon ka.

Sadly Yes. thats the reason why we even named a term for it "Pasaway".

Not just non wearing of mask but social distancing and in general terms socializing with other people are being done without much fear of getting infected.

And its not only the squatters or depressed areas are like that even the middle class and some uber rich people are doing this. I guess for a lot of these people think socializing is more important than preventing the spread of this disease. But you cannot blame them because of their living conditions or job related socializing norm before.

I agree. I see a lot of people who seems to be educated enough that are more than “pasaways” really.
