Agree. People tend to move indoors where there is less ventilation and since they are indoors more often, they'll get lesser sunshine (less Vitamin D?) that could weaken their immune system. Also the virus prefers cooler, dimmer conditions.

In hindsight, facemask and/or faceshield +social distancing + hand washing would have the same effect as lockdowns.

Mas madali lang kasi implement ang lockdown. Yung social distancing at facemask mahirap i-monitor.

dito sa Pinas we don't have to worry about 2nd wave coz we're not done with the 1st wave

we're in one long continuous wave since march

we make have peaked in August with a single day record of 6700+ cases but we're still seeing consistent 2000+ daily cases parin

    --

may widespread community transmission tayo pero most cases don't require hospitalization kaya di overwhelmed mga ospital

Hong Kong researchers find common ulcer drug could be effective in halting coronavirus replication in patients | South China Morning Post

A drug commonly used to treat stomach ulcers has shown promise in preventing the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus from replicating in an animal model, a study by Hong Kong’s top university has found.

The findings of the research, led by University of Hong Kong (HKU) scientists and published in Nature Microbiology on Wednesday, could provide a new and readily available treatment option for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease Covid-19.

The researchers said the drug, ranitidine bismuth citrate (RBC), could achieve similar outcomes to the coronavirus drug remdesivir, but at a lower cost.

RBC contains a metal called bismuth, which researchers said could reduce viral loads in coronavirus-infected human and animal cells to less than a thousandth of their previous levels.

I think in the US they pulled out all meds with Ranitidine in it over concerns it could cause cancer.

Heard on GMA news that the Metro Manila council is suggesting for 18 and above to be allowed and seniors up to 65 or 67. I'm ok with the teens since their immune system is at its peak. Pero mga senior mukhang mahirap, vulnerable sila.

Johnson & Johnson pauses Covid-19 vaccine trial after 'unexplained illness' - CNN

Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine arm is developing the shot. The company did not say what the unexplained illness was, but one point of clinical trials is to find out if vaccines cause dangerous side effects. Trials are stopped when they pop up while doctors check to see if the illness can be linked to the vaccine or is a coincidence.

"Based on our strong commitment to safety, all clinical studies conducted by the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson have prespecified guidelines. These ensure our studies may be paused if an unexpected serious adverse event (SAE) that might be related to a vaccine or study drug is reported, so there can be a careful review of all of the medical information before deciding whether to restart the study," the company said.
