DOH COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #137

As of 4PM today, July 29, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 85,486.

A total of 1,874 confirmed cases are reported based on the total tests done by 83 out of 91 current operational labs.

DOH likewise announces 388 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 26,996.

Note:
Of the 16 deaths, 6 (38%) in July, 6 (38%) in June, 3 (19%) in May, 1 (6%) in March. Deaths were from NCR (6 or 38%), Region 3 (3 or 19%), Region 7 (3 or 19%), Region 4A (2 or 13%), Region 4B (1 or 6%), and Region 11 (1 or 6%).

There were sixty-one (61) duplicates (including 7 recovered cases) that were removed from the total case count. Moreover, we have updated the outcomes of three (3) cases. One (1) was previously reported as death but updated as recovered and two (2) cases were previously reported as recovered but updated as deaths after final validation; these are already included in the count of new deaths and recoveries.

These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation.

Osaka's daily coronavirus cases top 200 for 1st time

The number of fresh cases of novel coronavirus confirmed Wednesday in Osaka Prefecture topped 200 for the first time, an official said, amid growing concern over the spread of infections to urban areas other than Tokyo.

The single-day figure, to be formally announced by the Osaka prefectural government later in the day, will be more than 220, according to the official.

The central Japan prefecture of Aichi also saw a single-day record for the second straight day, confirming more than 150 new cases, according to local authorities.

The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 250 new cases of the virus, which compares with 266 on Tuesday, when Japan's single-day infections reached a record 982.

The metropolitan government has raised its pandemic alert to the highest of four levels, meaning "infections are spreading."
