    kailangan malaman ung positivity rate

doon nakikita gaano ka-widespread ang virus
yan ang dapat natin makita, number of nag positive out of number of test done
    mas maayos sana ang data

Hehehe mga mathinic dito... baka pwede ma supplyan yung nawawalang data ng doh... if meron 1,800+ positives how many are negatives?

Let x = number of labs
Y = average test per lab

all labs combined how many tests can they process per day?

    20,000?

    kunwari 20,000

1,874 is what percent of 20,000?

    almost 10% positibo

    9 something percent

    mataas yun

Ito ang magandang plano. Sadly you'll hear it from someone who doesn't have the power to implement it. Wala tayong clear plan na narinig from the SONA para sa pandemic, even the DOH is saying hindi na nila alam gagawin nila. Sana adopt na lang ito ng administrasyon. But we know iisang tabi lang ito ng ma-ego na administrasyon. I bet marami babatikos sa plano na ito without even reading it.

So much noise again, a lot of it is recycled debunked news and conspiracy theories. These are the treatments that have solid evidence, along with the ones that are still being evaluated and which ones are not useful.

    Solid evidence of usefulness:

    1. Remdesivir - can decrease risk of death in severe COVID-19 by up to 2/3 according to latest data presented at an international conference (still for publication in a peer reviewed journal): Gilead Presents Additional Data on Investigational Antiviral Remdesivir for the Treatment of COVID-19 .

Peer-reviewed publications have shown decreased length of hospitalization for severe cases: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2007764

    2. Dexamethasone - decreases mortality by up to 1/3 in COVID-19 patients on mechanical ventilation. Peer-reviewed and published: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2021436

    3. High flow nasal oxygen: seems to decrease the risk for need for invasive ventilation and escalation of oxygen therapy by about 30% in patients with COVID-19: High-flow nasal cannula for acute hypoxemic respiratory failure in patients with COVID-19: systematic reviews of effectiveness and its risks of aerosolization, dispersion, and infection transmission | SpringerLink

Uncertain/mixed data or still in clinical trials:

    1. Convalescent plasma

    2. Favipiravir

    3. Monoclonal antibodies

    4. Tocilizumab and other IL-6 inhibitors

    5. Other immunomodulators like interferon

    6. Other antivirals including DAAs

    7. Vaccines

    No benefit:

    1. Hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine - this has become much more controversial lately after some doctors are saying it wasn't properly used. The whole gamut of severe, moderate, mild and prophylactic has been studied and it doesn't work. And is associated with increased risk of arrhythmias in some patient populations:

    https://nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2016638

    https://nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2012410

    https://nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2019014

NIH and the WHO have stopped all their trials due to this: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news...oxychloroquine

    2. Lopinavir/ritonavir

There are a lot more interventions being studied and this is not exhaustive. Science is constantly changing, but it is important to know when something has been studied enough to figure out if it is useful or not. If it isn't any good despite repeated attempts, we need to shift gears to other interventions that have better potential.

    Stay safe and informed.

Ano kaya yung malaking pagba bago na i a-announce daw bukas? Naalala ko ung proposal ni Roque na GCQ pero kailangan ng Q Pass kapag papasok sa mga establishments (pareho ng sistema sa Cavite).

Mataas if 10%... meaning 10% chances din na mahawa ka... [emoji15]

ang interpretation ko sa positivity rate ganito

it's like asking gaano kadali makahanap ng isang taong may virus

kung 1,000 tao ang tinest mo para makahanap ng ang isang may virus... di pala madali... konti lang may virus

pero kung sampung tao palang ang tinest mo at nakahanap ka ng isang may virus... potek...

i am also wondering about this.
why won't they indicate up front, how many tests were done?
the figures are probably available if one searches more diligently, but it would be more meaningful if the numerator and the denominator were on the same page.

Diba kaya mataas because of how we test?
Kailangan mag positive sa rapid test bago gawan ng PCR test.

    ^^^

well yes malaking tulong nga ang rapid test kahit may duda ang accuracy

at least it brought out those that needed to get swabbed

so madami pala nag po-positive sa rapid test kaya madami nagpa-swab
