As of 4PM today, April 18, 2020, the Department of Health reports 209 new cases (PH5879-PH6087) of COVID-19. The total number of cases in the country is now at 6,087

DOH also announce 29 new recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 516.

a lot of the positives are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms only

kahit infected, they're not ending up on ventilators

either they're pretty strong or they're still in early stages of the disease

the virus takes about a month to kill

But they do get sick and end up in hospitals too. Remember I said here once that a health worker in Barangay Tatalon already died last March? Urban poor community dweller too. Meanwhile in Sito Zapatera, one is in the hospital, one is having fever as per news report.

Really? Stereotyped? In my line of work, I deal a lot with the underprivileged. They suffer & die from a lot more diseases than us more privileged because of inaccesibility to vaccines, dewormers & other healthcare needs. Speaking of vaccines, I hope the underprivileged will not be discriminated on when a vaccine comes out.

Many many many pages back, the topic of the day on this thread was why there were almost no reported cases of virus carriers in squatter areas. This led some to theorize that maybe the urban poor communities are already immune, since their lifestyle is different from the rich and the middle class (e.g. no A/C rooms, always under the sun when working, commuting in polluted city environment, living along "esteros", etc. etc.).

Some even gloat that the C&D class are not as "OA" as the rich and the middle class who when stricken by a little fever or cough would unnecessarily rush to private hospitals in panic mode. C&D class people don't even vaccinate regularly, some members pointed out, yet per gut feel, are "healthier" than those who do.

Now that Sitio Zapatera is in the limelight, it seems those theories don't hold water anymore. Just saying, sir.
