Chicken and egg problem.

You want to lock down a city so people won't bunch up together, or let transmissions occur between states/provinces.

Problem is, the government can't very well take care of the guys who will be stranded...people know that so they rush to the bus stations. Instant Covid-19 mosh pit.

There's really no easy way of implementing a lockdown i guess. Too it too fast and people get trapped; do it too slow and people bunch up anyway. No win situation.

Chinese government said Spain didn't buy from an accredited supplier. It naturally bears the question: if the company is not accredited, then why is it allowed to sell test kits?

Are these the same test kits they used in Wuhan? No wonder there has been no new cases.

Follow up question to the CCP -- how did those "illegal" test kits even pass through their "Bureau of Customs" and given the greenlight to be exported to Spain? Export documents would have shown that the seller is unauthorized.

Conclusion -- CCP is covering its ass by lying again (as usual).

Vietnam naman iba rin yung approach.

They are cognizant that they don't have money for mass testing, and they only have 900 ICU beds for 8M people in Ho Chi Minh.

So their gameplan from the start was to limit spread through effective containment - i.e. hard lockdown.

Quite similar to the PH approach except they didn't allow an exodus of Filipinos out of Metro Manila (which was where most cases were at the time).

Now it's too late for us and for sure the virus has spread far more than the numbers suggest because we barely have a semblance of testing outside MM.

Big difference of course is that Vietnam is no stranger to authoritarian rule so military takeovers aren't scary for them. Sila ang epitome ng "wag na magreklamo, sumunod ka nalang".

Again though - my personal apprehension with containment is that it's not sustainable. You crash your economy to a standstill, people then die of hunger and not the virus.

The counter argument to that is that if you still allow people to move about, sooner or later the cases will explode uncontrollably and then your health system will crash, and then your economy will crash too -- domino effect. Either way, the economy crashes.

Lockdown = economy crashes
No lockdown = economy crashes too in the end

Middle ground will be to do some form of mass testing and isolate and treat those who are really infected, while the truly healthy ones continue to move the economy.

My friend who has relatives in Nan-An (Lam'uah in fookienese) said the lockdown there is still in effect -- almost two months now. Weird that the lockdown has not been lifted there in Fujian Province, when in Wuhan, Hubei, the CCP is saying they will be lifting the lockdown. To think Wuhan is the hardest hit of all. What's the real score? CCP probably lying to the world again.
