Not really. In countries in Europe where vax rates are higher, surges are happening. I think they are easing up on restrictions too soon & while still don’t fully understand the virus, we still have to be on guard. There will still be breakthrough infections.

The pill is most effective when taken during the early stages of infection. Interim trial results published last month have shown that the treatment halves death and hospitalization risk in patients, making it a vital tool in the treatment of the disease.

The MHRA has authorized molnupiravir – also known as Lagevrio – to be used in people who develop mild to moderate COVID-19 and have at least one risk factor such as obesity, older age (>60 years), diabetes mellitus, or heart disease. These and other factors might lead to more serious health outcomes and the pill appears to effectively prevent those.

Kontra si Guevara. Although Joey Con wants it so, citing needs to push some rights aside for the greater good, imposing mandatory jabs is still an infringement on our laws. Sa med, merong tinatawag na invasive & non-invasive procedures. Yung mga hihiwain ka, ipapasok tubo o needle sa katawan are invasive ones. Masks, Qs, ppe, curfew, shields are not kaya madali impose although it also infringes on our rights. Kaya imo, hindi pwede gawing mandatory. Best they can do is, like what Galvez said, is to make it more difficult for them to move around. Impose proof of vax to establishments.

Well, the law does say:

"The vaccine cards shall not be considered as an additional mandatory requirement for educational, employment and other similar government transaction purposes"

So as a condition for employment, study or transacting with the gov't, medyo malinaw. Silent nga lang though regarding entry into private establishments.

However, does the IATF have the power to modify or set aside an act of Congress (yung batas)? I doubt it. Palagay ko, that would be similar to that old case when MMDA tried to pass ordinances.

it matters that we don face shield because it is effective against covid.
but it is crazy to impose it, if it is not effective at warding off covid.

i wear prescription glasses.

I wonder if malls are willing to not let unvaccinated people enter their establishment. That means less customers for them. They can require vaccination naman since they are private.

Scientists find gene that doubles risk of dying from Covid

A single gene has been identified by Oxford scientists that doubles a person’s risk of dying from Covid-19.

The gene, called LZTFL1, is relatively common in people of European ancestry, affecting around one in six people.

However, it is extremely prevalent in south-east Asians and is the dominant form of the gene, present in more than 60 per cent of the population.

So Asean countries have a higher risk of dying due to this gene.
