Supply chain disruptions... Pati generic drug tinamaan...

ang Global supplier India curbs drug exports as coronavirus fears grow - Reuters

BENGALURU/NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India, the world’s main supplier of generic drugs, on Tuesday restricted the export of 26 pharmaceutical ingredients and drugs made from them, including paracetamol, as concern mounted the coronavirus outbreak could turn into a pandemic.

Indian pharma companies get almost 70% of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for their medicines from China.

China hid the virus situation on purpose ... why would they allow themselves to be the only ones affected economically? ... that would greatly weaken them and put them at a disadvantage while the rest of the world improves ... so best option for them is to bring the whole world's economy down with them ...

Some (non-thinking) people would actually look at this statement and conclude "China and USA are the same", right, sir?. Some (non-thinking) people cannot spot the one big glaring difference --

In the US, Pres. Trump wants to keep things under wraps, but the media and the people (health officials, local officials, etc.) won't be silenced no matter what. They will sound the alarm and sound it loud. Heck, even late night talk show hosts are lambasting their own leader on TV for this. Are the police knocking on their doors?

In China, Master Xi wants to keep things under wraps, and everyone, I mean everyone, will be silent. End of story.

No comparison. Democracy's checks and balances still working in the USA. In China, there's none to begin with. Big Brother is watching over in China.

Depends on who you ask. President Trump and his minions will definitely say yes. He's the one who "Trump"-eted the list in the first place.

In the just concluded Tokyo Marathon. 300 pro-runners were the only ones allowed to run the empty street of Tokyo. Spectators were discouraged from lining the route, which was secured by police in face mask.

Won't be suprised if NBA matches will play to empty stadiums soon.

NBA to players: Limit contact with fans amid coronavirus | ABS-CBN News

The NBA has advised players to limit contact with fans as a precaution as cases of the coronavirus are appearing in the United States.

The league is recommending players "utilize fist-bumps over high-fives with fans," ESPN reported. The league also advised players not to touch anything passed by fans for autographs, such as pens and jerseys, the report added.

"The health and safety of our employees, teams, players and fans is paramount," the NBA said in a statement issued Monday. "We are coordinating with our teams and consulting with the CDC and infectious disease specialists on the coronavirus and continue to monitor the situation closely."

South Korea medical system under strain.... What played out in Wuhan is now in Daegu.

The number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in South Korea has soared to more than 4,800 overnight, with hospitals in some of the worst-affected cities reporting shortages of beds and emergency staff collapsing from exhaustion.

Nurses at other hospitals have also threatened to resign, with an official at nearby Andong Medical Centre saying the staff were “at their limit”.

“Nurses at other hospitals could quit their jobs en masse soon if conditions do not change”, the official said.

Patients waiting for a hospital bed to become available in the city of Daegu are dying in their homes, local medical authorities told the Chosun Ilbo newspaper. More than 1,600 people with the virus have been quarantined in their homes, but at least four have died while waiting for in-patient care.

    ^^^

coz it doesn't matter whether your govt is autocratic or democratic

it all comes down to your country's healthcare/hospital infrastructure

no matter how advanced your country is, nobody has hospitals that are ready for hundreds of people showing up at the ER at the same time

like i said even in normal times pag punta mo sa ER maghihintay ka

Just bought 50 lbs of brown rice, 4 cases of cup noodles, antibacterial soaps, spam and canned goods, pain and cough and cold meds.

Hand sanitizers are nowhere to be found. Good thing we have about 4 quarts left in our stockpile.
