the shop that i bought the unit from were the ones who installed the unit. actually, they had to take out the whole 2din cover with lid, then they use brackets to steady the head unit. however, my iconnect is smaller than the hole, so they placed black plastic around the sides and especially at the buttom. the black plastic is like the covers for the headunit.

AVT po unit ko. install ko sa strada glx. actually kakakuha ko pa lng nito last monday Jan. 7. very satisfied talaga ako sa ride. smooth na smooth. Yun nga lang yung kaunaunahang accessory na nilagay ko medyo sablay pa. hindi kasi fit sa hole e may makikita kang konting butas, saan po bang shop yun baka pwede ako makabili ng black plastic na yun pang cover ng space?

Re: turbo timer, ang sabi ng Diamond Motor Q.A. it will void the warranty kung magpakabit ng turbo timer...mine is glx m/t lang and tinanong ko sila kung pwede akong magpainstall ng turbo timer, they said na pang a/t lng daw ang allowed nila lagyan ng timer pero pag m/t hindi daw nila nilalagyan. Pero i'll try to join the eb.

ngeek. ang low i.q. naman pla yung Q.A. sa Diamond Motors. Turbo timer for A/T lang. anu ba yan. it has nothing to do with transmission. Turbo timer has to do with allowing enough time for the turbo to cool down before the engine shuts down/off. maybe he got confused with auto start. auto start is better if used in automatic than in manual transmission. void the warranty? another lame excuse, they just want people to buy from their accessories store.

i believe we should be weary on our warranty and what we should install, but if meron ma void..its probably on electrical kasi..yung lang ang turbo timer..splices of wires from ignition switch lang to maintain the engine on for a specified period after one takes out the key.

yes.pls try to join us sa eb. its only named "turbo timer" eb but you dont need to have TT on your car to be there.

im excited to see your a/v unit...avt is good, but quiet pricey.

oo nga e...nahihirapan ako pag walang turbo timer...kailangan ko pa mag idle ng ilang minutes na minsan nakakalimutan ko gawin.

I almost lost my Strada's spare tire to a thief last night. I was parked at the basement parking of StarMall Mandaluyong (Crossing). I accompanied by parents to get the remittance sent by my brother.

We were only in the money transfer shop for less than half an hour. When we got back to the vehicle, I noticed a white Toyota Tamaraw FX was parked very very close to my vehicle but I didn't see the driver and the basement was poorly lighted. I asked my parents to carefully open the doors so as not to scratch the other vehicle. To our surprise the driver emerged apparently from behind and quickly drove off. I didn't suspect anything until we emerged from the basement. The mall security quard stopped me and told me about my hanging "nakabitin" na spare tire. When I got off the vehicle and went at the back, there it was, my spare tire dangling from its holder. I remembered advisories in this thread to secure the spare tire so I bought a lock. The thief almost managed to cut the lock.

yeah.thats one of their style..to park very close to the rear so they can cover their tracks.

good thing the guard saw your dangling spare tire, but sad that their security guards weren't able to see what the fx driver was doing. we should still be vigilant.

Dapat pala the 2nd EB's theme should be Turbo Timer + Spare Tire Lock.

Congrats, Pauland and Maimaicomp on your new Strada. I still have the same feeling. Mine is more than a month old.

Hey Strada Peeps,

I have emailed MMPC regarding two of my inquiries. First is when does the turbo kick in on our rides and second is if any personnel can join us in our second mini-eb.

Here are the answer:
"For you second concern, the turbo unit activates at around 2,600 - 3,000 rpm depending on the size of the turbo unit. Regarding your request for participation in your meeting, forgive me for I could not decide on this matter. Our technical people are being authorized to attend and rectify vehicle concerns endorsed by our dealers. This would be the first time for us to receive this type of request from our customers. Anyway, you could e-mail to us your querries and we will be more than willing to provide you answers to it.

I am very delighted to know that Strada owners are now starting to meet and be in groups. This is a heartwarming move by our customers which we MMPC deeply appreciate just like the other groups / clubs like Mitsu, My Lancer, Emperor, etc. " -A.M. (initial of the MMPC employee, I don't want to post his full name here for his privacy)

Its fine if you dont have your strada with you, basta interested in the pickup or an owner himself is fine sa eb. but of course, its better if you have your ride but not essential. please check out the yahoogroup and join it as well.

as I know, the turbo should kick in to help you speed up in overtaking or more torque. the rpm stated above is from MMPC employee, so I assume he knows what he is talking about.

from wikipedia: "Turbodiesels are generally considered more flexible for automotive uses than naturally-aspirated diesels, which have strong low-speed torque outputs but lack power at higher speeds. Turbodiesels can be designed to have a more acceptable spread of both power and torque over their speed range or, if being built for commercial use, can be designed to improve either torque or power at a given speed depending on the exact use.

Turbochargers are in many ways more suited to operation in diesel engines.
