Will they also bring out the Colt here?

According to Froilan G. Dytianquin, Mitsubishi assistant vice president for marketing services, they are considering the Taiwan sourced Colt Plus(the only LHD Colt model in Asia)

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines is contemplating importing cars from Taiwan in order to meet the demand for smaller, more fuel efficient cars.

In an interview, Mitsubishi assistant vice president for marketing services Froilan G. Dytianquin said the Filipino consumer is now switching to smaller cars like the Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris and Suzuki Swift.

Dytianquin attributed this to the volatile gas prices. Over the weekend, oil companies increased the price of gasoline by P0.50 per liter.

"The Lancer sales are being affected by smaller cars," he explained. Because of this, he said, Mitsubishi is thinking of importing Colt from Taiwan. Although Dytianquin still do not know how much the Colt would retail for, he said the average price of Jazz, Yaris and Swift is P750,000.

on the outside , the colt really looks like a mini-grandis but way cooler than the yaris and the old jazz. If they're importing it from Taiwan then quality will be pretty good.

from experience , J-CBU's doors , dashboard and framework are very very strong. Just look at the Suzuki Jimny or the current Pajero , the doors are flawless. We can't help but admit that extreme quality is less in current thai and philippine cars (except for the Focus). Imagine a Ferrari made in south east asia.

Though it is possible and we want it , I can't imagine a lancer being a Japan CBU. The last time MMPC did this was like , 1970? My lancer box type is a PH CBU with a japanese engine :D My bet even if this will be a J-CBU , the price would be about 700-800k and the higher variant about the same price as the J-CBU Mazda 6.

Yup the new gen Lancer will be on display sa CAMPI Motorshow this August(now you know bakit nag-import sila ng Lancer GT na galing sa Japan) though sa October pa ang start ng sales nya..

- Mitsubishi Strada 3.2 4X4
- Mitsubishi Strada 2.5 4X2
- Sneak Preview of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer EX (I guess thats what they call the new gen Lancer, see photo below)
- Mitsubishi Concept X (the 1st one not the recent Evo X prototype)
- Mitsubishi Concept CT MIEV

Does that badge on the lower left of the trunk say Lancer EX?

Just a thought....
Since the new gen Lancer is called "Lancer EX" in some asian markets including the RP, could this mean that the older "Lancer" will continue as the cheaper 1.6 variant of Mitsubishi?

I wonder where Mitsubishi Philippines plans to attach the "GSR" model name this time, assuming the newspaper report is correct. Could it be the non-GT Lancer EX?

I believe the model that will be displayed at the Motor Show(sneak peak) will be the Lancer EX GT 2.0

PS: I believe "Lancer EX" is like saying "Corolla Altis", so the GT 2.0 model is called "Lancer EX GT 2.0".

Di ako pwede magkamali... nakalagay dun sa motoring section ng Philippine Star kasama sa ilalaunch ang Lancer GSR... Oh may gulay! Im an avid fan of this car and i want to see the new Lancer with my bare eyes sa campi car show! Waaaaa! Can't wait! Sa Saturday pa ako makakapunta! O_O
