Guys.. regarding fuel requirements.. can we use petron blaze 100 for skyactiv? I remember here that regular fuel will do fine.. manual says 91 RON or above except for europe which requires 95 RON.. Anyway.. im thinking using blaze since its not mixed with E10 and i think its clean burning? So less carbon? Also good during when car is stored since theres no E10..
A friend of mine used to fill his Mazda 3 with higher octane fuel and in the end nasira yata ang engine kaya better to use the specified fuel sa manual.

Urban legend, sir?[emoji4] He might've filled er up w/ bad fuel from some random pump/s. Skyactivs here(13:1comp ratio) are similar w/ USDM ones...tuned to not ping w/ regular unleaded. Use of higher octane won't have any felt performance gains/benefits....unless remapped. The 14:1 variants, like those in Europe, run on premium petrol.

I did dig on the history why Mazda endorsed Shell. Prior to Skyactiv introduction here, Mazda conducted a survey of local fuel quality from random pumps everywhere, of all the brands around then, Big3 & bit players. Samples were sent to Japan for tests. Shell's came out most consistent.
The endorsement may have come w/ concessions, as commonly perceived..... but this was more to provide a degree of insurance to help the planned Yojin3 program be most efficient....catering more to PMS than projected fuel-related issues.
Work fleet was formerly w/ Petron. Some quality issues moved us over to Shell way before we got our 1st Mazda. So far, so good. Knock on wood.🤞[emoji120]
Oh, if E10 bothers you...use this....

I've had more ping than usual on Petron even on my 2NZ before. Since then I've always used Shell unless absolutely necessary.
The 3 just got a full tank of Fuelsave after 3 weeks of MWF shuttle duties.
Meanwhile I'm maximizing the grocery getter's tank before filling her up. Last full tank was Feb. Still did 150 on C5 while following an Alphard :D

Let's not be too dramatic. Mazda endorses Shell because Shell is also lubes OEM supplier. So they get preferential terms on the lubes in exchange for the fuel reco.
Fuel is not significantly different between brands, even generics. Now that Tabangao is not refining, guess where they get bulk of their supply for Luzon? Petron's RMP2 in Limay.
In the provinces there are lots of sharing arrangements - if Petron has a depot in island A, they will supply Shell's needs, and vice versa if it's Shell that has a depot.

Mga car sa family 100% Blaze. Nataon medyo mura sa Petron West Ave. Mga 42 Php.
Iwas ethanol at Euro 6, mas malinis.
This is the reason why despite having near-identical fuel, I prefer gassing up at branded stations. Just better operational standards on average than your generic station (some generics even use secondhand tanks so it can be misleading).
That said, going back to the topic of the Mazda-Shell partnership, it's one stemming from OEM lubes contracts more than anything else.

My car is in the garage in China since middle of January [emoji24].

Mazda was conscious of Skyactiv's fuel quality requirement(DI + high comp, SkyD w/ DPF) & was aware of Ph standards early on. Ownership guidance was deemed necessary. The findings & endorsement dangling could've been MazdaPh's leverage for the lube angle....a win of a partnership.
Mazda did have a choice, does have a long standing partnership agreement w/ Total(since '03) who supplies the Mazda Originals....but....presence & pump density way too low?Total & Mazda partnership - YouTube

Performed front underchassis cleaning and brake cleaning..
Wheels.. damn these 18's are too heavy.. back breaker
Took the opportunity to grease the rack and pinion.
Cleaned the liners.. and the calipers.. shouting made in china..
There is a ton of clips in here.. but managed to put them all back!
Nice that the mazda placed a handful of underchassis covers.. although access will be more difficult as you need to remove them first but still its nice that the underchassis is protected.
At first i'm hearing suspension noise on rough / uneven cemented road.. my first suspect are the front calipers. Greasing the pins solved the problem. Noise gone!
I found the e-loop capacitor on the driver side front wheel well. Its directly connected to the alternator then wirings go inside under the driver seat. I don't know its water resistance rating but to be on the safe side, better not to pass flood waters more than half of the tires deep.
