Siri does not play well with Waze. It defaults to Google Maps which does not have turn-by-turn directions for PH. For some reason telling Siri to open Waze AND search for local addresses defaults it to US or European destinations. Only way to search on Waze is by using the keyboard which is a bit tedious when you can't use the touchscreen. Nothing that can't be overcome without some practice.
Phone calls can be initiated by pressing the voice command button on the steering wheel and telling Siri to "call <name>". The stock Mazda app works the same way. I just miss the functionality where I can bring up the phone app by pressing the phone button on the steering wheel.
So is all this worth it just to get Waze on the HU, fast charging USB ports, and finally getting to maximize what the HU can do? Hell yeah. Getting this kind of support for a 5-year-old product is unusual for a car company.
Now to save up for that virus thingy that everyone is talking about....
There are FW upgrade topics in US forums for Mazda 3s, 6s, CXs, and Miatas. Most of the topics contain detailed instructions and download links from what sounds like a salty old man who knows someone with access to the OEM files. I'm sure our deep penetration agents on this forum know what I'm talking about ;)

Yeah I've seem those forum posts about FW upgrades. Dodgy at first glance because there's no way to check the authenticity of the software (eg digitally signed by Mazda, etc).
Mazda doesn't really host an open source repository for the firmware so any source that's not coming from Mazda should be treated with caution. You won't know your device is compromised until it's already too late.
There's the nice old disclaimer "use at your own risk" though [emoji1787]
I wait for a brave few to try it first before taking the plunge [emoji14]
Mazda won't make upgrades official since it can count as a warranty claim against them. They usually make them part of a silent recall if a customer reports issues with their HU. The forum has kept track of the newer FW for later models and the version numbers are the same.
They already have updates for the BP

Anyone here encounter this same issue, Mazda 3 comes with OE reverse camera. Sometimes reverse camera wont work, only reverse sensors are working. (See image). Before BCM replacement (global recall) minsan lang sya nangyayari, like once a month lang. After BCM replacement, halos twice a week na sya nangyayari. Reported already to casa, everytime casa will check, gumagana si camera, so no issues found. Already tried the hard reset on the HU, does not help.

My 5-year-old generic cam with custom circuitry is still alive. Sometimes it flickers but I've only seen it not work twice. Make sure the HU is fully booted up before reversing. Could also be a loose connection if it's intermittent. Get your phone ready to take a vid if it happens again so you'll have additional evidence for the casa.

I found this but haven't tried yet:
GENUINE Mazda CarPlay+ AndroidAuto INSTALL Instructions All Here | Mazda 6 Forums
The guy seems to be "connected" to Mazda. He only updates the post whenever there's a need. What you need to read are the first three posts. If I may add a disclaimer, it's a long one.
