Remember that nasty mazda engine? Performed diy engine detailing using my cheap steam cleaner, degreaser and all purpose dressing..

Also removed the battery and intake box to reach deep inside the engine.. also took the opportunity to remove the wiper cowl.. found some small leaves and dust.. overall its clean given its age.. also covered the outdoor air cabin intake as i found some leaves trapped inside.

Charged the battery panasonic q85 using ctek regen mode.. unfortunately battery still failed test using my cheap digital battery analyzer.. re-installed the battery and no errors popped up! Although need to reset the sunroof auto open by holding the switch until it is fully opened.. also the driver auto up down needed to reset by holding the switch up while the window is closed.

the yellow thing is a Ryobi led work light. just used a water soluble degreaser from kemrad and prochoice all purpose dressing. used compressed air to blow out excess dirt and steam cleaned the whole engine. what i like with the prochoice all purpose dressing is that the dust clings to the microfiber and leaves the parts shiny but not sticky or having that oily feel.

while the intake box removed, i checked the ATF level and it still full.. no burnt smell...

also, i found a flimsy heat shield just above the exhaust near the valve cover. where we can buy that? the material is made of foil, some pressed fiber and non woven cloth that is already starting to separate.. i think its there to give some protection on the valve cover from extreme exhaust heat..

Check the dealership, shouldn't be much. This 3 went to a good home![emoji106][emoji4]

i tried the i-stop reset given by sir travs.. and it is working.. tested the i-stop function today and everything is working.. i-stop did activate 4x during my 30 minute drive.

tested the car shifting around 5-6k rpm holding the 3rd and 4th gears.. also tried that accelerator switch.. damn the car is so fast and responsive yet there is confidence in the handling. i like the exhaust throaty sound on hard acceleration!.. braking is superb and not diving like what you feel in an SUV and you feel that you have control of the car.!

took me 1 day to detail the interior using again my steam cleaner.. took me a while to remove that california scent the previous owner is using. fortunately the steam cleaner is very effective to bring back the natural smell of the leather seats.. removed all seats and cleaned every corner.. just found a few dust. i think the owner did not eat anything in the car as it is generally clean! Sadly, the spot on the dashboard was due to an air freshener leak and cannot be removed totally.. but putting some sunshield revitalizes the dashboard and somehow lightening the damage.. overall interior is good!

at first, I thought there is an amplifier under the driver seats.. it turned out is the E-loop regen unit

today, I did exterior detailing. used mothers clay bar, then polished the car. washed thoroughly then applied chemical guys paint sealant. car is now bright red and shiny.

next will be detailing of under chassis! so far I think the car is a good purchase!

Please don't tell him to run at 220 kph! It's illegal. Otherwise, I'll call the police.

Out of idle curiosity, what is the maximum speed registered on the Mazda 3 speedometer?

    "Idle"

260kph on the 1.5. Digital speedo ang 2.0 IIRC so sky's the limit?

My Vmax was 160kph on the stretch of CAVITEX between Bacoor tollgate and the guard tower on the causeway. Had to back off because my wheels started vibrating and the nose started to feel light. I miss the burnt rubber smell coming from somewhere behind the dash during birit runs like those.

Look who’s talking. Call the police on yourself. Hehehehe

Even though the speedometer may indicate a certain speed, there is no indication that a car will reach that speed. Even more powerful cars are electronically limited up to 250kmh or 155mph.

I guess the Mazda3 2.0L can break 200kmh if given a spirited run but it may only top out at around 220-230 kmh.

Will try gaspeed paint shop at Las Pinas for my mazda soul red for paint retouch on the bumper I had our toyota altis painted by them using the original paint code.. i find their job nice as OEM paint.

Checked underneath the car for my planned DIY oil change. Oil filter wrench 902 size fits.. but bad news on the drain plug which uses an allen wrench.. i think the mechanics at mazda alabang had a lousy job.. the drain plug shows tool slippage marks that can make the hole rounded in due time.. this is one reason i dont trust casa workmanship..
