Geo_S would vote silver. Hides dust & ages very well. Darker colors are harder to keep clean & will tend to show swirls.....
    Just Geo's 2cents.
Why you'd find more swirls on black? It's not just contrast & sheen....lemme repost why...

Fredrick Mohs created a scale from 1 to 10, for measuring and determining hardness. Hardness refers to the measure of resistance a surfaces has to abrasion. Talc is rated 1 while a diamond is rated 10.
Titanium dioxide, the substance used as pigmentation in white paint, is rated at 7 on the Mohs scale. As far as pigments go, titanium dioxide is very hard, making buffing & evening out a challenge. By contrast, black paints, (single-stage), are soft. The pigment used to make paint black is Carbon black, which has a Mohs hardness rating of 2.
That's also why Geo chooses to stay in middle boring ground....silver.

Darker colors are hard to keep clean (dust and dirt easily show) and scratches are conspicuous unlike lighter colors where dirt and scratches can "blend in".

Your VIN has to be checked. PHspec'd M3s coming w/ the necessary hardware aside from the wheel controls are a long shot....
But if they did, you might just need the wheel controls & coding. How? I dug some....Here's what a Russian Mown3r did w/ euro VINs that had em.
Activate cruise control (On a European M3 w/ VIN JMZBM42A8311xxxxx)

    You will need:
    1. File ASBuilt your car.
    2. File ASBuilt similar car, but with cruise control.
    3. Access to original IDS scanner.

    To get started,

Open file ASBuilds in any text editor.
1.Copy in file ASBuit car with cruise control your data: VIN and checksum.

    2. Check identity of dashboard (IC it is 720). These data should be identical!

    3. Copied different digits of VIN number
    4. Changing checksum. Checksum calculated by formula: Sum digits of VIN number. VIN position13+VIN position14+VIN position15+VIN position16+VIN position17+210 = 230 (BIN) or E6 (HEX) (for Example, for VIN JMZBM42A831123663 it will be 2+3+6+6+3+210 = 230 (DEC) or E6 in HEX. Where 210 is a constant number for VIN JMZBM42A8311xxxxx.

ATTENTION formula only for VIN JMZBM42A8311xxxxx !!!

    5. Save file as VIN of your car (in example JMZBM42A831123663.ab)
6.Go to diagnostic computer with program IDS. Open folder with program IDS (default is C:\Program Files\Mazda Motor Company). And copy our file (JMZBM42A831123663.ab) to a folder Calibrations Files (default is C:\Program Files\Mazda Motor Company\Calibrations Files).
    7. Turning off Internet (it you must made sure!).
    8. Open program IDS.
    9. Go to configuration units.
    10. Select IC. Program will offer "auto" or "manual" mode! Select "automatic" mode. Next, do everything suggested by program.

Get all that jargon? Coz I really don't. Hahaha.
If the OE leads you a deadend, don't despair.....Get the simpler but complete ROSTRA Kit.... no OE wheel controls needed.

2014-2015 Mazda 3 Cruise Control now available!

But, wait....can anyone use cruise in all this traffic we face?

Hi everyone, lurker quietly lurking here for some time now. You've built a very active and helpful community here, really appreciate all the knowledge I get from you guys. =)

Just wanted to ask: if I have front sensors installed by the casa on a 2.0R sedan, is it possible to get the default sensor screen to show up on the center display?

    This:

    Or ideally, this:

Or will it still just be all beeps with no display?

    Thanks again!

Sensors are those bumper buttons you see on rears, sir. If you want visuals, you'll need cameras & a bird's eye module like these....

Lately i have sour smell coming from my aircon vent that disappears after a few seconds . Googled it and found out that it could be molds build up. I tried spraying lysol on the aircon intake but to no avail.

This is what I do to remove the sour smell from my cars. Tama ka at build up molds yan due to the cold air. Either turn on the heater of your AC if it has one or turn off the AC condenser for a few minutes before turning off your car. Do this everytime you use your car. The heat will kill most molds. If the smell persists, time to have your AC system cleaned. HTH

Yan din ginagawa ko. Kapag malapit na akomsa destination I turn off the compressor and just leave the AC fan running and open the windows. This keeps the moisture from forming on the evaporators pipings and ducts.

Everything everyone says about black is true - its hard to maintain.

But if well kept, its one of the most beautiful things on earth...especially if you love the color.

    Here's a repost from page 788...
That musty/mildew odor, most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON, is likely the result of mold growth in the A/C evaporator/cooling unit which is caused by trapped moisture, leaks, condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse & common in high humidity conditions like ours here.

Please note that A/C odor is not Mazda-specific as it will occur in other makes and models.

Here are DIY steps one can take to investigate & minimize A/C odor:

-Check cabin floor & carpeting for moisture. If wet, address the leak source which is usually a clogged evaporator drain.

If no trapped moisture is detected, below are good habitual approaches:

    - Keep the cooling unit dry by leaving the blower fan ON (at least on low), even if the A/C is not being used.
    - In our high humidity conditions, or if the air has a lot of dust or pollen, keep the system in the “RECIRCULATION” mode. "Fresh" is for dry climate conditions.
    - A few minutes before reaching a destination, turn the A/C OFF, but leave the blower fan ON. This stops the accumulation of condensation on the evaporator/cooling unit, and it helps dry the inside of the cooling unit.
-Leave in-cabin silica dehumidifying canisters. Replace before water accumulation reaches max level. Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Fridge Deodorizer or plain ol' charcoal may help, too.

    If symptoms persist:
-Remove the cabin filter behind the glove box.
-Spray Lysol into the vents & the cabin air filter opening. That leads to the blower motor air intake opening.
-Switch the air circ mode to fresh & spray Lysol thru the exterior cowl vents near the windshield generously while AC on * full blower. Do the same alternately w/ heat on.
-Replace cabin filter(PN: KD45-61-J6X) w/ new, vid here:
Changing cabin air filter- 2014 Mazda 3 - YouTube
...but if the used one is still new/clean/serviceable, spray some Lysol. Let dry before reinstalling.
-Dry the evaporator using the following procedure:
WARNING: Don’t run the engine when inside an enclosed area to avoid risk of CO poisoning.
    A. Start the engine.
    B. Set the HVAC controls as follows.
    • RECIRCULATE
    • FULL HEAT
    • FAN HIGH
    • A/C OFF
    • AIRFLOW (FACE)
    C. Open one window approximately one half inch.
    D. Let the engine run for 15 minutes.

If symptoms still stubbornly persist, then we'll have to go more in-depth, more intrusive....Let's pray we won't need to go there.

Still having those moldy smells...Even after doing those DIY steps. Nakaubos na ako ng isang lysol can. Lol. My car has a lot of dehumidifiers and charcoals already. Hindi ko alam kung nakakatulong. Might have it checked sa Casa this weekend.
