    hi maranello01!
congrats on your new ride! dumadami na sorento owners dito.
1k PMS is not mandatory when we got ours last year. 5k ang una.
    tama ang sales agent mo.

At first i was considering changing the shock absorbers but then the stiffness went away, and now i'm not so sure. i'm also not sure if installing OME will help. will it? We are 101% satisfied with our ride! Infact my wife now doesn't complain if i ask her to drive(before she always makes excuses), and she only uses the old car if i'm driving the sorento.
my impression about our sorento is that it has soft shocks which account for the front and rear rocking motion (boaty ride). in fact, i prefer a stiffer ride.
wondering if kia changes brand/make or type of shocks on different batches of the sorento or is it just differences in ride perceptions.

ni-require ba ang 1k PMS sayo? we had our first PMS when the unit reached 5k.

BTW, anyone of you added a step board to your car?

May unit kasi naka display sa dealer and it comes with a step board, maganda dating and functional pa. 18K daw with installation, kaya pa ibaba to 16K. Original sorento accessory daw. Sabi sa akin di na kailangan mag butas to install I hope that is true.

    any thoughts?

    Hi Maranello01

For OEM stepboards no drilling needed, I got it here in Cebu for only 9k including installation...

Congrats Maranello01 on your new red Sorento. I am also planning to have the OEM stepboards installed when I get back home for vacation by end of this year. From which dealer is the 18K? According to Gregg-g, he only spent 9K including installation fees.

no stepboard on our unit but it's really needed esp for not-so-tall riders because of the sorento's height.

sana na-negotiate mo sa dealer mo na free nalang ang stepboard with the unit. yung samin, nakuha namin free tonneau cover for the back plus 3M tint, full tank and the regular mats & seat cover.

    hi fellow sorento owners!

Just wanted to share with you some problems with my week old sorento. Frustrating!

    1) after 500 kms i heard noise (tak, tak, tak) coming from my front tires when i make U-turns/ tight turns(discovered it while going up shangri-la parking). The sound was faster as i sped up, sounded mechanical too. i suspected the 4x4 system not being disengaged completely(haven't tried engaging the 4x4 yet though). brought it to the dealer last saturday and asked them to listen to it. They gave it back to me after a couple of hours. they tightened the bolts lang daw and said it was fine. driving home i didn't notice anything as it was noisy on the road. when i got home though, realized the problem was still there as i parked my car(it was quiet outside). Brought it back monday, told them problem was still there. What did they do? They placed foam on my rear plate number as it was the one causing the problem daw! i had to ask them to take me on the test drive to show them again where the sound was coming from. only then did they acknowledge the possibility that it could be a faulty 4x4 system. Until now my car still isn't with me. They said though that they've fixed the problem today already. But they say that there was no need to replace anything, just adjustments( i hope so, i don't want the 4x4 system to break down when i need it as i will rarely use it. i'm afraid it'll give way after the warranty expires). The problem could have been there since i got it. I actually wanted them to replace whatever it was sana, to avoid any problems in the future. Will get it tom, if the problem is still there, i'm going to kia Quezon Ave.

    2) i had a loose panel on the dashboard. They fixed it last sat.

    3) sound coming from the driver's side door. sounded like a loose wire/harness hitting the sheet metal or door skin. Should be done by tom.

    4) my driver's side mirror was vibrating excessively. they will have to request pa daw sa Columbian for replacement.

Hay, it's very frustrating. I purchased the Sorento to replace my 8 year old corolla to avoid any possible problems that might turn up due to it's age. It never let me down since i bought it years ago, very reliable . Surprise, surprise! I'm using it now as the new Sorento is being serviced!

Don't get me wrong guys, I still think I made a good decision purchasing the Sorento. I enjoy the drive and feel of the vehicle. Maybe just bad luck?

    Just sharing. haha

    Hi kokey,

I got the Sorento back last friday, the only thing they successfully fixed was my 4x4 system, the rattle in my door is still there(they said it was fixed na). I need to go back tomorrow to have the replacement side mirror installed.

I found out last saturday that the cover on my visor vanity mirror was broken. I hope they'll fix this under warranty. I also noticed what seemed to be grease stains on the drivers seat, probably came from the mechanic who serviced the car. to top it all, i got the car back with 100+ kms extra on the odometer.

Lucky for them they have a very accommodating customer relations guy. I guess that's what he's there for.

    Hay, never again.

short, sad to hear your frustration with your sorento.

i have mine as well. brought our unit to kia pasay last thursday because the driver side window wont go down.
it was repaired. sabi nila may dumi lang na na-stuck sa mechanism which they removed. ano kaya yun?
after that, when i got home, the remote unlock wont unlock the doors. isip ko baka may hindi naibalik when they repaired the driver window. will bring it back to them tomorrow.
and also, the clock went dead also after they repaired the window. tsk tsk...

pero overall, ok pa rin sya. drove it to tayabas and back last friday and the torque was bountiful especially for overtaking. sarap ihataw.
pero 9 kms per liter lang nakuha namin sa kanya for that trip kasi mabagal din ang takbo for the great part of the trip because of many slow vehicles on the road plus we had more than 1.5 hours of idling while waiting for friends and stopovers.

hahaha, you're right jrln, mabuti na lang at maganda ang engine nitong Sorento. If not for the enjoyment of driving it long distance, I'd be really frustrated with it.

You have problems too? Kainis ano, lalo na your unit is relatively new. They probably missed re-connecting one of the harnesses on the door. I wouldn't want to go back to the casa each time "dumi" gets into the window system. Is your clock functioning again? Maybe just reset itself if they disconnected your battery.

    Goodluck!

Hi. Got my Sorento last week and based on calculations Im just doing something like 6-7kms/liter on mainly city driving. Quite surprised coz the people from the dealership claims that it can do 10-11kms/liter. Just want to find out how the other owners are doing in terms of fuel mileage.

Last time i checked, i did 5.8kms/ liter. But this was after i got my sorento from service last week. Mechanics there probably had heavy right feet. Before that i was doing 7-7.5kms/ liter mixed city and highway. Will probably get better after a few thousand kilometers.

An update on my Sorento though, I found a small patch of bubbles on my tailgate's paint. Seems like rust. My Sorento is less than a month old.

First thing to be upgraded for me will have to be the headunit(Jensen).

hmmm... baka old stock new stock yan sa'yo kaya may mga probs.

both hyundai and kia new vehicles have delivery stickers posted sa back windows. when we got our santa fe last august, the delivery date was july.
