The 2007 upgraded model is not yet VGT, although I saw the ad of upgraded black kia sorento na may VGT signage, i think sa Korea palang may VGT, not even the european or US versions are with VGT engines.

The dealer (KIA Quirino) quoted me P6k excluding installation fee of 3K, which I think is highway robbery.

It was a pleasant transition from driving an underpowered Terrano to a powerful Sorento. My Terrano gets overtaken easily by other cars going up Kennon Road. With my new Sorento, I do the overtaking this time .

Going up Kennon..is your transmission in normal drive ("D") or do you use the shiftronic?

Congrats sa bagong Sorento mo pidyong. Anong color ba ang Sorento mo? It's the updated version right? Ako pag uphill, I just leave it sa drive "D" mode pero pag downhill at may mga curves, gamit ko malimit ay shiftronic/tiptronic mode to have more control sa decend since ang Sorento na observe ko mabilis decend pag downhill ang daan. Parang nagiging free wheeling ba siya. At least pag tiptronic gamit mo pababa, you can control your speed without using your brakes palagi.

hi Pidyong, I also got mine at kia quirino, i also got leather seat cover from them. I think the cost ranges from 4k-5.5k, i chose the more expensive color/type but I only paid 5,500. But i installed it myself.

what freebies were you able to get? I was not able to get any discount but I got free 3yr LTO and 3M tint

Actually 6k for leatherseat cover is ok, especially if its really good, however for the installation, 3k, that's way too much. Most upholsterers (I don't know if this is the correct term), would just install it for free...

Anyway, on my end, I opted to just maintain the original fabric, as it would seem practical (although not in cleaning) especially in hot, humid weather condition like ours. Like not burning your behind after a day's park under the heat of the sun...

Hindi din ako naglalagay ng seatcovers sa Pajero. Masarap nga ang cloth. Nalalabhan naman yung seats kahit nakakabit sa sasakyan. Pwede sa Big Bert's. Pwede din dito sa Shell sa kanto.

At my usage, mga once every 6 years lang kailangan labhan yung seats.

Got the same freebies like yours.. I think I'm going to pass up muna on the leather seat based on OTEP's and greeg_g's recommendation.

Btw, what's the color of your Sorento and how's the service at KIA Quirino? I always have my Picanto serviced at KIA Mandaluyong and I am 100% satisfied with their service.

talked to one unhappy sorento owner. His unit is a LX diesel, problems with his tranny, it doesnt shift smoothly, and he has problems claiming it on warranty. And ang ECU ya napalitan na to the tune of 55k. He is selling it nga. and the bad part is that he has a lawyer friend who is filing a case against kia because of a troublesome sorento also.

I think all brand new cars, regardless of brands may mga bad eggs talaga.

As for the spoiler check ko tomorrow if needed to drill holes.

Pidyong, going up Kennon I just put in on D. Going downhill I use the shiftronic to slow down the speed because just like Jeanpierre's observation, the Sorento is too fast in descending a steep slope. Conrats on your new ride BTW.

Refueled for the first time and I got a 8.25 km/l hope it improves as i put more mileage

I also have a carnival and I usually get 9.25km/l for almost the same route. Considering carnival engine is 2.9 the sorento should be at least more economical considering i adopt same driving style.

here is my new consumption report

loaded 59.159 L after travelling 505km. 8.54km/L. Improving, i am targeting if I can get at least 9.5km/L mix city-hway (w/o using biodiesel), let you know if i am successful.

Ako maintain ko between 28- 30 psi. Bago pa naman unit mo so lalambot pa yang suspension mo. Unit ko hatak na sa kargahan since palaging loaded pauwi ng province at pabalik ng manila. KHUMO 798 ang tires ko at lalong malakas ang kapit ng gulong pag loaded. Nang maghabulan kami ng Patrol at Trooper, loaded ako non at wala na akong makita sa rear view mirror ko sa dami ng karga at anim pa kaming sakay.

Tanong ko lng noh kasi medyo gipit sa budget ng pambili ng sasakyan.. Meron bang mga grey market na nagbebenta ng sorrento na imported? magkano kaya? and last question, hindi ba ito bawal sa Philippines? kasi baka ma bawi.in lng to pag nalaman na hot car galing korea..
