January 29th, 2006 10:20 PM #962patbayns,
Kung Korean car ang titingnan mo, u shud not wori. Korea has left hand drive. The only chance for a Korean model to b rhd is it comes from NZ, Austarlia, HK, Sing or England. Its unlikely for these sources to have their cars arrive here.
If in case it does, these are the things to watch for:
The dashboard unless totally replaced will have some odd looking joint after cutting it (instrument panel) from rhd to lhd. In most cases, they use a lot of putty and body filler used where the "leather"pattern on the dash material will be erased and smooth in the joint. The dash is most likely painted also (makintab). Under the das, you will probably see some unfinished conversion works like hanging wires and unterminated aircon ducts. Look at the set of pedals too, merong conversion dyan like welding, cutting and bending works. On the steering controls, the signal light lever will stil be on the right side and wipers on the left. On the stick shift, the hold or o/d off button is on the right side too. Sa doors you will see that the central lock and windows control is on the right side or badly reinstalled on the left side with alterred plastic base. The seats with lumbar support and seat adjustments will also reamin on the right side.
On the engine compartment side, you will see some hole in the firewall insulation where the steering column used to be. You will also see some wires and cables cut and extended and some linkages improvised to finish the conversion. Look for the brake booster also it will also show signs that it must hav come from the right side. The wiper will also be converted, so kung metal plate ang cover ng wiper arm base, malamang repainted ito. Kung plastic naman, meron extra hole.
All these or at least some remaining un-converted will make a rhd car driveable in the Philippines but for a dealer to convert all with replaceemnt parts will cost the a fortune so they would not do all.

January 30th, 2006 01:39 AM #963just came from my initial inspection of the sedona this morning, it seems na orig LHD siya. may mga observation ako at nilista ko. interior: ung left front door window is not seating well, sabi ng care taker ganon daw talaga ang sakit ng sedona, sa isip ko... really? the power lock is not responding well. left front power window button needs extra pressure before windows will respond. wiper arm may paint na na chip off kita na ung bare metal. shift stick cover torn. sa engine naman may leaks, sabi nung bantay sa power steering daw yon, sabi ko ung ilalim basa ng langis, sabi niya baka daw nabuhusan during oil change. another thing walang service history, hindi raw dinadala sa casa, so anong ginawa niya sa warranty, 2002 model siya, ang last price niya 530K from 548K, sabi nung nagbebenta around 10K lang daw magagastos ko kung papa repair ko ung mga defects. hmmm...

Yung oil wetness sa engine might just come frome the p/s and engine also please observe carefully or is it a bad case of poor maintenance. By the looks of it, 530K medyo mataas. Baka pwede mong tawaran ng 500 to 525. Para may headroom ka for repairs.
I got mine for 540K, naka 17inch Falken with rear sensor. Tried everything in my checklist at 40Km. wala akong kaba then naputolan ako ng timing belt. But it was a case of incompetent intervention of the mechanic of the previous owner in fairness to KIA. It was not also within my right to go as far as checking the timing belt during a buyers inspection so yun, umabot doon ang damage.
Masarap din naman mag restore unti unti. You will get a chance to journey with ur car. Your success will be sweeter each time you restore a bit of the car. Sabi ko sayo nung natanggalan ng 35 dents yung car ko, it looked like a new car already.
Good luck and pray also that He will give you the best deal.

Leave your number and offer to him (kahit 500K cguro) and move on to the next Sedona in ur search. What im worried abt is 30K odo and the interior condition seems not consistent. Di ko ma imagine paano ma worn out yung gearshift cover . Baka naman he is wearing metal gloves everytime he drives. Yung sira naman na window mechanism might be a sign of frequent trips na short trips na madalas pumasok sa may security guard na No ID no Entry
. Short trips are not good for our engines.
Marami dyan, yung 620K na nakita ko dati, parang bago as in yung Manebela magaspang pa yung upholstery leather pattern. at yung engine, completo pa sa stickers ng quality check.

January 30th, 2006 10:51 PM #968Try mo, last month nandun pa. Its in that car dealer in the corner of Ortigas and Meralco Ave. before Metrowalk (coming from Dep Ed). Actually mahal yun. Pero kung makita mo, wow tulo laway talaga. May tiny dimple lang sya sa front right bumper but the rest, may DVD by audiovox and TV Monitor pa. Sedona RS 2003. I fell in love with that car, kaya lang nung nag trade-in ako ng CRV, biglang humingi pa ng 20K nung nalaman nya na Butuan City yung CR ng car ko. I offerred to do the LTO transfer myself and give in to 5K addtional pero medyo humirit pa. But if its still there at 630K or even less, go for it! You can also try the car dealer in Edsa after SM City Annex going towards Balintawak where i got my Sedona, maganda din ang mga deals doon.

February 3rd, 2006 08:38 AM #969Hey Guys,
I have more observations on my Sedona please contribute info...
On our airconditioning unit (AC). The manual encourages us to use outside vent most of the time to have maximum "fresh air intake". Here in Manila, aside from the very warm air outside, the air is also filthy right? So for AC efficiency and less particle pollution, we do recirculate our air most of the time.
I had a chance to get as much air from outside when i was in Baguio. Of course, i had to make sure i was not tailing a smokey truck, fx or jeep.
I observed that switching to outside air intake makes my AC vents blow very little air. Why is this? Is there another filter for outside air?
Should i look for a malfunctioning flap or vent duct that would restrict fresh air from coming in?
On microfilters: Several threads/posts back, people were discussing microfilters. I found the slot under the dash on the back of the glove compartment.
Question: Can i buy off the shelf a microfilter and pop it in to my Aircon unit? I own a 2002 Sedona LS.
Tnx,
Nano

Yes, you can jury rig a cabin filter. But exact fit parts are available at the dealer, too.
