Hi Altec/Benchp1,
Thanks for the inputs anew. I just checked Kia car manual and 205/70r15 is one of the recommended tire size for Kia Car. Others are 215/65r15 and 215/70r15.
What about the rubber which I intend to put on top of the rear bumper for protection, DIY lang ba yun? Also, I would like to know if Kia Car a/c, alternator belts are commonly available in auto shops or do I need to buy it from CASA pa.
I hope somebody can create a full-blown forum limited to Kia Car/Sedona. This thread is highly informative for a newbie like me and kudos to the contributors.

The part you are describing for the rear bumper is an OEM part. its called a "scuff plate" i think. dunno about the availability of the carnival's fan belts at auto shops, bcoz i buy mine * the casa.
creating a dedicated thread mainly for carnival/sedona owners would be good. but it needs a lot of work, time & dedication. i think this thread is the best we can have with regards to first hand information about our mini-vans. HTH

ALTERNATOR issue with my carnival
I had my 45000 PMS done a month ago on my gray market KIA Carnival, and Wheels informed me to have my alternator looked at because “mahina ang charging”. 3 days ago, my battery got discharged and car wouldn’t start. I brought it to Outlast since it was still under warranty. They did some checking and said again “mahina ang karga ng alternator”. I’m not sure what is the unit of measurement, but their instrument was reading 13 to 13.5 when we rev it to 2000 rpm, and the recommended is 14 to 15 (may be amperes, not sure), It’s when the lights and aircon are on when the problem surfaces.
Diesoline recommended a shop in t. morato, but I didn’t have the opportunity to go there so I brought it to my suking talyer. Turns out they’re not electrical experts and they asked another talyer.
Bottom line is they said my alternator is fine, but it’s just not powerful enough at 85 amperes. They recommended to replace it with a reconditioned 110 ampere alternator for P5,800. the guy seemed honest enough but I always think the best of people so I’m not sure if I’m being scammed.
But to make sure I called Wheels and true enough the Philippine Sedona has a 110 ampere alternator so I suppose I have to bite the bullet. Sigh, there goes the money.

April 23rd, 2006 03:01 PM #1064They meant 14 to 15 Volts.
I have a gray market Carnival so I'd better check alternator too.

What could be the source of this "noise" --parang me rubber/belt na tinatamaan--in front of the passenger's seat which happens only when in reverse gear? This started late last week, unfortunately, I could not bring my Kia Car to the nearest shop. Thanks in advance.

hello there guys. it's been quite some time since i last posted. i would just like to update you my most outrageous adventure so far with my carnival.
those of you who are familiar with baguio may have heard of mt. sto. tomas, the location of the so-called aircons of baguio city.
well, i just climbed up to the site on my carnival with my family today. wala lang... the urge just hit me late this morning. it was an impromptu ride up the mountain. so armed with the camera and a coleman jug of ice-cold water, we headed off to marcos highway.
i told my wife that we would just venture until "kung saan kakayanin nung kotse."
needless to say, the carnival made it. the road was very dusty and parched and was strewn with sharp rocks. the road was widened in some parts since the last time i went there (on a hilux).
on the descent, we encountered a bj-40, a jeep wrangler and a feroza, all of them lifted. the incredulous expressions on their drivers' faces were priceless!
on a widened spot of the road several kms from the summit. though the place is more popularly known as sto. tomas, the actual name of the radar site is mt. kabuyao.
baguio city in the distance. the ramp visible in the background is loakan airport's runway.

on the summit of mt. kabuyao. the rear tires looked like they were white sidewalled because of all the dust.
the kids playing beside the reservoir (empty at this time of year) on the other side of mt. kabuyao. the green stuff is not all grass -- it was a carpet of clovers, very thick underfoot.

a landslide area on the descent.
the aftermath, dust everywhere. there was dust even on the rocker panels behind the sliding doors.
Are they on track to surpass last year's sales?
