this ilocano buys valvoline dexron IIe atf at 90 per liter. i use up 4 liters of the stuff everytime i change atf. i think the extra 360 pesos is well worth it. while you are at it, replace the air filter too for added ooomph. another 350 pesos down the drain. but at least, you will be smirking for the next 5k km. my last four oil changes were done at the 3.5k km interval. ewan ko ba... the combination of owning a gray market unit and having a friend who distributes lubricants makes you act that way. hehehe!
i have asked about the a/trans filter too. they don't replace it in the casa. replacing it entails bringing down the transmission daw. but i really haven't pursued the issue yet. i will ask about that when i next go to cruven. filters don't last forever. it is always a better option to replace them early.
rodski, so nice to have your posts appear more often on the thread again! post naman na the oil catch design!

January 27th, 2006 11:23 PM #954Ok lang yung friend na lube dealer basta huge discounts!
The reason why im paranoid again is that in the past 3 days nag blink yung "HOLD" light indicator. Twice nawala after a few minutes but tonight, more than 20 mins. Switching the hold button does not affect it at all. Should this be a serious concern? Does it have to do with atf change necessary? or is this a case of those minor malfunctions that we have to live with.
Second, i need some guys who own a diesel carnival or sedona who can meet me sometime in the near future just to compare what a healthy sounding engine idle and running should be. Some articles i've read says that their diesel sedonas idle with slight purr of a cat. Are they referring to the crdi models or shoyld i be comfortable with my Lion's roar and snore of my engine...mahirap talaga yung nasanay sa gas...obobs talaga. I live in Quezon City area. Tnx.

January 27th, 2006 11:52 PM #955Hey Guys! refer to page 4-19 on the Owners Manual...
*NOTICE
"If the HOLD indicator flashes, it indicates an electrical problem in the transaxle. Should this occur, have the vehicle checked by an authorized KIA dealer as soon as possible." ngeeks!!! is this it? wow what could have gone wrong? But the car drove perfectly...ano ba naman yaaaan!
I had a matic Vitara, Matic Cefiro and Matic CRV all past 100K Km, never had problem with auto trans. Wow. Please enlighten meeeee!
Help me sleep well tonight, or are these what we call trials? Papunta pa naman ako weekend retreat with my wife....

haven't encountered that HOLD flash indicator problem yet, nano. looks like you have to drop by the casa yet again.
i noticed that one of your previous rides was a cefiro. sobrang silent tumakbo engine nyan! the kia j3's diesel clatter would be tens of decibels louder in comparison.
btw, tnx for the kind comment re my signature pic.

January 28th, 2006 09:46 PM #957Well this morning, day 1 of our weekend (parang retreat) to and from Worldtrade hindi naman siya umilaw. I hope hindi na!
Allow me to discuss a topic earlier discussed in previous mails...Tires!
I have just changed to new Dunlop Eco 201 (about 2 months ago). Its cheap, durable (i can say from the wear after 4,000 K). but to my dismay, matalbog. I read earlier somebody said he is happy with his Dunlop Le Mans but my tire (a cheaper variant) is so matagtag kahit 30lbs na lang ang tire pressure (32 and recommended).
Speaking of tires, my cefiro had Le Mans and they were okay, Pero kung kaya lang sana ng budget, you should try Continental Eco-Contact. grabe ka smooth.
My brother in-law who used Chinese Toyo tires on his Venture experienced much improved traction ride and quietness when he switched to General. Unfortunately, the closest dimension they have for Carnival/Sedona is 225/70 x 15, medyo malaki para sa wheel well natin.
Anybody, please share naman kung anong tire talaga ang magbigay ng smooth na smooth na suave na ride for our minvan?

so far almost every carnival/sedona owner that posts here uses dunlop le mans rv. if you'd ask me why i chose it, its because i like the thread design. hehehe. bought it 5 months ago * evangelista, makati for 2,450 per tire.
stay away from those korean tires namely those rolling stocks on the carnival, hankook eco-plus something not sure of the name. di siya suited sa weather ng pilipinas. ang kapal pa nung samin nag-oblong agad. and yung spare na hindi ko natingnan for months guess what lumobo/bumukol mag-isa.
diesoline,
madali lang ba magpalit ng atf? i mean sa labas hindi sa casa. OA naman ung casa na yun. imagine bringing down the whole transmission just for fluid change.

January 29th, 2006 06:12 AM #960benchph1,
Actually yung pattern ng Le Mans crush ko rin yun para sa CRV ko kaya lang, ang tagaaal napudpud yung Goodyear Fortera Ko kaya di ko nahintay magpalit hanggang nabenta last Nov. Im just not satisfied with my Dunlop Eco 201 matigas talaga.
patbayns,
I know how it feels to be excited and anxious to see ur RS. RS dapat yung binili 2003. Kaya lang medyo mataas yung hiningi nung reseller. In spite of that pumayag ako 640K kaya lang nung kukunin ko na, humirit pa ng 20K, that blew the whole thing up!
Allow me to put my 64cent worth of advices. Look at the mileage, ask for service record if any, look at the inerior esp upholstery: chairs, dash and ceiling...mahirap i restore ito. Check for any foul human, humid smell, its a sign of bad airconditioing. Check for anything loose like removed screws, missing screws etc. a sign of repairs and tampering or upgrades maybe. On the engine side, check for leaks, worn out hoses signs of engine rebuild like traces of oil and silicone sealant. Power steering ma check mo sa boots sa rack end and point where steering shaft meet r/p. Check for lights also (minor ito). Dents basta walang paint damage ok yan, kaya ng mga denters tanggalin yan. Lastly, start the engine, allow it to idle in at leat 10 to 15 mins, under the sun mas madali hanapin usok, start aircon, under the sun din, check kung kaya itong lumamig ng husto. Short test drive check for allignment kabig etc. Tama na siguro yun baka mainis yung owner (ha ha ha). Do i sound like a Diesel convert now? By the way, you have every right to check your investment wag kang mahiya. Pag nagustohan mo na car, ask for your price and grab it! (of course after comparing many). By the way, ang inggit ko lang dun sa 2003, nak gas lift yung front hood.
nano.
Are they on track to surpass last year's sales?
