March 2nd, 2006 10:04 AM #1001Hi,
Just want to ask if anybody here has experienced problems on their hydovac? If so, did you replace it or just have it repaired? How much? I think I am having problems with it because I am having difficulty braking at high speeds and I hear this air pumping from the inside every time I pump my brakes.
TIA

I've been using Shell Rimula-X for the past 6 oil changes (every 5,000 km). Prior to that, the Kia casa in Dagupan used Gulf semi-synthetic.
Just make sure the oil you use complies with the standards set in your user manual. Also read the label on the oil container to see if it is recommended for turbocharged engines.

Allron, the answers to all of your questions are in this thread, but since its already a hundred pages long, baka sumakit na yung mata mo hindi ka pa tapos magbasa
Anyway, eto yung mga masasagot ko:
0. The Sedona LS is the high-end automatic tranny model with all the bells and whistles. The Sedona RS has a manual tranny and less features.
1. Difference between Carnival and Sedona? Prior to 2000 or 2001, they were known as Carnivals. After this year, they were renamed Sedona similar to the name they have in the US market. However, if you find a grey unit Sedona imported direct from Korea, it will most likely have a Carnival instead of a Sedona nametag. The grey market Gen 2 Carnivals have more creature comforts than the locally released LS Sedonas.
2. things to look for? Same as with any vehicle, look for signs of collision damage, worn out parts, misaligned sections, unusually high wear, fluid leaks, squeaks, rattling sounds, etc. Bring a trusted mechanic when you inspect the vehicle to be sure.
Is it hard to maintain? PMS (oil and air filter change) every 5,000 km for the most part. Some parts or fluids are scheduled for replacement either every 20,000 or 40,000 km. Timing belt should be replaced before reaching 80,000 km. If it's a Gen 1 Carnival, also check if the oil pump chain has been replaced as this part is prone to breaking, as per experience of some fellow Tsikoteers. I and another poster have also experienced broken shifter cables, but in my case, I drive a lot and I drive aggressively (my Sedona is past 226,000 km now) so it's to be expected.
If you're in QC, several shops in Banawe, notably Fronte, have Kia parts in abundance. Likewise, some Hyundai parts will fit and work in the Sedona. For example, during a casa PMS a few months ago, I was surprised that they replaced my old fuel filter with one for a Hyundai vehicle.
3. is it big enough for a family of 6 or 7? just enough. Most comfortable positions are in the front and middle row as these have captain's chairs.
4. any bad side about this vehicle?
For a review of some negative poinst, check out my comments on page 2 of the Sedona vs Everest thread.
5. welcome

March 13th, 2006 09:09 AM #1006Hello folks!
Does anyone know where to buy good replacement brake pads for the Carnival/Sedona in Banawe? The original doesn't last long and is pricey while the cheaper replacement pads' quality doesn't inspire much confidence.

Welcome back, diesoline. Long time no see
May I ask how often the Racor filter should be replaced? The instructions on the packaging say replace every 500 hours, so I made a rough estimate of how many months it would take me to log 500 hours with the engine running --around 3 months. Should the filter be replaced more often?
