got the carnival from signet yesterday.
total bill was 35k. whew. the most expensive repair bill we've ever paid for our cars. the bill balooned to that rate because i also opted to have the timing belt and all idler bearings replaced. and also while they are at it, also requested to have my a/t fluid changed.
of course no more grinding sound in the morning. J3 engine sounds a bit more "crisper" at idle now.
ill post the part nos. later of the parts replaced so you guys can use it as reference.

thanks mikey for the info so you mean as it is you have no major problems with the car, so maybe if i can dispose of my pregio may look into it then , also always thought that a sedona was gas and carnival is diesels , anyway just like kia cars since i have a friend who deals in parts so i can get them relatively cheap but the carnivals or sedonas with the australian forums which kept saying that they have problems with the sleeves or cylinders moving out of place so did not get one instead went with a pregio so maybe if one comes along from a trusted friend would get one thanks again for the info .

hi beejay:
AFAIK, the v6 gas versions were the ones mentioned in the australian and u.s forums. Those units allegedly consumes/drinks coolants due to microscopic differences in the length of the cylinder liners. In fact, one of the posters here in this forum encountered that problem on his gas v6. There is still no issue about defective cylinder liners in diesel versions.
I am one happy owner of a pre-owned carnival (2001 ls). Reading all the posts in this thread had given me the resolve to dispose my previous ride and buy a carnival, no regrets with my decision.

guys, but do you also experience outer tread wear on the rear wheels of the carnival? i rarely have load at the back except on weekends and my tire pressure is 34 psi at the back.
i'd just bought 2 rv501s for the front and then saw that the rear wheels were going to need replacement soon, too. haay...

leolop,
sabihan kita bukas pag maliwanag na. Too dark to check for tread wear patterns, tsaka sarap matulog ngayon, malamig ang panahon dito sa Pangasinan

The sun is finally out after yesterday's typhoon
Anyway, I checked my rear tires and I didn't notice any significant outer tread wear. YMMV.

October 31st, 2006 05:53 PM #1359hi mga sir! just wanted to ask what's the main differences between a carnival and a sedona?
i have a pajero subic right now and my friend wants to swap his 2000 Carnival LS manual trans. Anything important I need to watch out for aside from the normal checks for acquiring a 2nd hand car?
I checked the carnival kanina, mukang ok naman a bit fresh pa. just need some minor repairs, like the left sliding door is a bit sticky when opening it, and some other minor things. It has 2 captain seats and the 3rd row folds forward and is one piece, instead of the 2 piece version that folds sidewards.
I hear there's mga 1st gen/2nd gen, gray market, etc. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance mga sir!

mikey, diesoline, salonika,
thanks for the replies, pero ang bobo ko, what i should have typed was INNER tread wear in the rear wheels. jeez hi-nighlight ko pa. actually i've always thought that inner tread wear was common at the rear since that's what i experience in other vehicles.
i have a pic, i just can't find the damn SD card adapter.
Are they on track to surpass last year's sales?
