jordan::: Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Wheels New Manila. I've noticed that sometimes they are not too accurate when giving time estimates for the completion of repairs/check-ups. This is why, whenever I have my ride serviced, I call them every few hours to confirm if they'll be able to deliver on time.

leolop::: It would be good to know the scope of work to be done for the two PMSs. You can ask the service advisor to give you an estimate of the cost before you commit to the work. Of course, if there is a doubt about the meticulousness of the previous owner in caring for the unit, then I'd rather be on the safe side and have all the work done, budget permitting.

OT, we went up to Baguio (spur of the moment trip) a few days ago since one of our household helpers mentioned that he had never been to the place. We stayed for only a few hours.

As usual, the Sedona traversed the stretch from Urdaneta to Baguio City flawlessly. However, it was the first time I ever experienced driving in such thick fog and rain on our descent back to Pangasinan. These pics were taken around 4 pm, but it looks like dusk already.

benchph1: claro of cruven is quite familiar with the carnival because one of his siblings own one. he is aware of the intake manifold fouling problem of the j3 engine. he also told me that aside from cleaning the intake manifold, they also disassemble the turbocharger assembly and clean the accumulated soot in the vanes of the impeller.

mikey177: you passed thru marcos highway, right? the fog usually rolls in there during the afternoons. best time to traverse marcos highway is late at night or in the morning.

I am planning to go up Baguio this coming new year and i plan to travel in the late evening. Just saw the pictures provided by mikey177 and I just thought how difficult it might be driving at night with the stock fog lamps of our carnival. Any ideas/suggestions, where we can upgrade our fog lights or even change the fog lamps itself that fits the whole?

diesoline::: Thanks for the tip regarding Marcos Highway. Incidentally, we have completed our move to our new house, which is why I haven't been able to post for the past two weeks (bagal ng Digitel maglipat ng linya). Just text me when you want to drop by for coffee or anything

ericmm::: The pictures make the situation seem more dire than it really was. Madilim lang sa loob ng cabin ko kasi naka-magic tint ako, pero kung light lang tint ng ride mo, okey pa naman ang visibility. Tsaka importante din mag-maintain ng safe following distance at appropriate speed pag ganito ang daan. Have a safe trip this coming new year.

ericmm, I read sometime back on how quite useless most 'fog' lamps that are sold or as OEM units. Pick fog lamps that have SHARP cut-offs and mount/aim the lights low. Reason for this is that lamps with no cut-offs or are mounted/aimed high will just illuminate the fog in front of you and further reducing your visibility.

Just think, ships have fog horns and not fog lamps. Maybe cars should have one too.

    mikey177-- thanks man.

    to everyone!-- HELP......again!!!!

Yesterday, on my way home, it was dusky and I turned on my foglights with the aircon on and CD playing.... everything was fine.

This morning, when I turned on the van, the Car stereo seemed to have its own life. I can no longer turn it off directly from the main stereo and from the steering wheel. Then it turned off on its own, then went on again. I tried to remove the CD from the din when it was on but when I was about to remove it, it went back in and the stereo was off again.

Another thing, the Foglamps are no longer working. And the indicator from the dash is no longer lighting up as well.

Seems like a short circuit. Any Ideas? Can you recommend a shop where I can have it serviced before the vacation... hirap bumiyahe ng probinsya ng wala radyo.

    Thanks!!!

    jordan,

any competent electronics technician can handle that kind of problem. no need to bring it to the casa. about the fog lamps, check the fuse.

i brought the carnival to signet edsa yesterday because of a problem with the steering. at some point it becomes stiff. diagnosis: no problem with the hydraulic system. the receipt says: lubricated universal power steering joint.

i will also bring the carnival next week to claro for an underchassis rehab and a complete cleaning of the turbine system. thanks for the suggestions guys!

    benchph1 -- thanks man.

I actually brought the Carnival to Kia Marikina this morning since it is just 3 blocks from my work. The foglamps are working, I was in panic mode yesterday with the stereo, so when I pressed the button for the foglamps it was off, not due to circuits but because I forgot to turn on the lights first.... .

The only problem now is the stereo head unit. It is constantly ON but cannot be controlled.....

    Hi Peeps,

I have set my eyes to a Kia Carnival unit 2001 AT with odo reading of <40K. Any idea how much does it cost nowadays? The owner is too modest to provide me his price e.

Thanks and more power. I hope I will be lucky enough to own said unit soon, Feb or Mar kasi i-dispose e.
