Dear all, thanks sa mga info posted in this thread. I recently bought a carnival. high mileage pero ok yun engine. wala usok, pasado sa emmision testing using plain diesel lang.

few question lang po, hope you can provide answer.
    1. paano malalaman kung naka activate na yung turbo? so far, i managed to cruise at 100kph at 2000 rpm, pero di ko pa nakikita na me nag light up na turbo.
    2. pag naka ilaw yung airbag sa dash board, sabi nyo etheir me sira yun sensor or sumingaw na yung airbag. napapa "refill" ba yung airbag? magkano kaya kung sakali?
I think yung procedure nila dun ay tatanggalin yung headlight assembly, i bibilad tapos lilinisin from sa loob from the opening sa lalagyan nung bulb mismo.
    5. para saan nga ba yun "hold"? Umaatras ba yung carnival kun di mo na gas properly on a 45 degree incline? di ko pa ksi na try. also, di ko pa nakukuha yung manual ng carnival.

    thanks in advance.

Really no way to find out unless you have a boost gauge and know what the boost pressure of the Carnival is. But if the turbo is not working, you will have loss of power and black smoke.

    2. pag naka ilaw yung airbag sa dash board, sabi nyo etheir me sira yun sensor or sumingaw na yung airbag. napapa "refill" ba yung airbag? magkano kaya kung sakali?
The airbag in the steering wheel contains no air. It inflates by rapidly combining two solid chemicals whose explosion results in gas production. A lit sensor is probably just a sensor error. On some vehicles, the light is designed to light up after a pre-determined number of years so that the airbags can be inspected.

    5. para saan nga ba yun "hold"? Umaatras ba yung carnival kun di mo na gas properly on a 45 degree incline? di ko pa ksi na try. also, di ko pa nakukuha yung manual ng carnival.
Hold just holds on to certain gears and prevents shifting. Useful when towing a trailer or engine braking down mountain roads. It is not used to hold the vehicle still (much the same way that overdrive is not something that makes a vehicle go faster). Yes aatras siya.

dibako mapapahiya pag carnival nirekomend ko
Kumporme siguro sa unit na kukunin nila.

Pwede na injection calibration, but want to see how durable our engines are.
Anyway, I haven't had any calibration or other major work done to the engine yet, just the scheduled change of the timing belt every 70,000 km.

I find the Sedona to have good build quality. My ride, which I got in 2002, endured the rehabilitation of the NLEX and the rough conditions of McArthur Highway. In comparison, my 8 month-old Starex already had a stabilizer link replaced last month just because of Urdaneta's road conditions, hindi pa nya naranasan nung puro lubak at gravel paths ang NLEX.

Aircon? After 4 years I had to have the front evaporator replaced because it developed a pinhole leak.

Shifter cable --naputol nung 2005 yata. Just do a search on this thread, I can't remember the year anymore.

Ang then there's the infamous sliding door handle problem

But overall, I'm very happy with the Sedona, and I feel more comfortable driving it than the Starex, and I like it better than the sedans I've driven before.

    Josiel:
Bring it to your trusted aircon mechanic. Most probably it needs cleaning only or replacement of the front aircon micro filter. Worst case scenenario is that your cooling coil/evaporator has leaks in it. I have posted earlier the prices of orig cooling coil/evaporator and drier/reciever for everybodies reference if ever you need to replace it.

When that happens, assuming naka footbreak ka, please check your brakes and rotors as it may needs rotors refacing and/or replacement of your brake pads, hindi na kumakapit yung preno mo ng matino that's why nag-i-slide na sya. That was the explanation that I got from my Kia Car mechanic; after na ma-repair, okay na.

    Hope this helps.

    thanks hinlog.

actually, yung gusto ko mapag aralan ay yung "hang and go" (tama ba yun term). sanay kasi ako sa gasoline car na manual na me hand brake, so medyo alangan pa ako on how to go about a situation where mag hhang yung carnival on a 45 degree incline (or more) considering wlang hand brake yung carnival. di ko pa gamay yung foot brake din.meron din kasi kami 4x4 na diesel pero lakas hatak nung lalo na sa incline situation, di masyado aatras pagka bitiw ng brake.

madalas kasi ako sa natarik na parking area. so any advise on that situation will be appreciated.

TAKE NOTE: 136+++KM na to.

Hindi ba niya napindot yung button that turns off the a/c compressor (but leaves the blower running)?

Is your Carnival equipped with a cabin heater (red zone sa thermostat)?

+1 to doc otep's entry. How silly of me to assume that there is problem already in your aircon system

The switch of the aircon eh yung button na may figure na parang sun.

I'm a total moron re: the Sedona, as I've never driven nor rode on it. Since walang handbrake, ano po yung substitute nya? I can't imagine myself driving uphill with busy traffic on a car with no handbrake (parang yung nasa Quiapo bridge)

The parking brake of the Sedona is foot operated, AFAIK. Just like on early Benzes and American cars.

A parking brake is required by law in most markets.

the sedona/carnival's aircon is not really aircon like we know it: cold, and fan. Instead, its literally fan, cold and hot mode. Yup, may heater ang aircon natin. I think its more proper to call it climate control. Make sure the thermostat is set to cool setting, not hot. 2nd, make sure naka engage yung compressor. 3rd, and this was discussed in this thread several, several pages back, sometimes ayaw lumamig ang aircon, just turn the thermostat right then back to the cold setting. I don't know why, but usually babalik yung lamig.

The sedona is foot brake, not hand brake. Sometimes, you have to ask the shop to adjust the foot brake, minsan, the car still rolls forward, so kulang ang foot brake setting.

I can't say much about the sedona AT, as I drove diesoline's ride only once and his was the CRDI AT version, while mine is the 2.9TDIC MT. The steeper the incline, the car at drive mode will still move backwards when you release the brake pedal. If your feet are not fast enough, your option is before moving the stick from park to drive mode, step on the foot brake to engage it. Then while stepping on the brake pedal, move the stick to drive mode. When you move your right foot from brake to gas pedal, use your left hand and time the release of the hand brake to release the foot brake.

Regarding inclines, just be careful. Even though our engines are powerful: 130hp or thereabouts, our ride is heaaavvvyy. Therefore, on a standstill on an uphill incline, baka kakapusin ng power. The remedy here is to step on the clutch a little to bring up the revs, then release the clutch so that the starting revs will be high to engage the turbo.

I had the same problem when I got my Carnival LS, luckily a neughbor of my in-laws is working as a service technician at Isuzu. He gave us a bottle of solution which is to be wiped over the cover while sanding it with a very fine abrasive. Kumintab at luminaw ulet. This did not involve removing the headlight assemply. Mabuti na lang, I failed to ask about the solution though, but ask the service guys they know it.

di na tinanggal yung headlights, sabi kasi nung gumagawa ng car namin sa labas lang yung dumi, di daw sa loob. so ayun, medyo blurred parin. pede kaya domex or mr.muscle ang panglinis dun sa headlights
