Okay, thanks diesoline and salonika. I knew that diesel engines were built to be more sturdy than their gasoline counterparts, but I had no idea of exactly how much more durable they are. Thanks for clearing that up. Looks like I've got at least another 100,000-km to go before I start to think of an overhaul again

di ba sir yung brake pads sa harap may sensor? so pag napudpud na, it might trigger the warning light indicator...
rodski, how much yung damage ng orig na pads?
yung sakin kasi parang may vibration pag medyo soft lang yung apak mo, parang hindi fit so dumudulas, causing vibrations pag slow speed and light na tapak lang.

The front brakes have a brake thickness warning via "squeak" springs. Pag manipis na mag squeak yung pads. Its that simple. However, during mornings or after rains may kaunting squeak yung brakes dahil sa rust formation and the brakes are still warming up. If however, matagal ng umaandar yung carnival at may squeak everytime you brake, manipis na iyon.
The warning indicator in th e dash board signals two conditions. Brake fluid level and parking brake engaged. If the brake warning lights up while driving especially during a brake condition then yung fluid medyo below sa allowable level. Either may leak or manipis na yung pads.
As for the shudder when braking. Check the rotor, pads, tires, balancing, wheel bearing, bushings. Or the brake pads are not yet warmed up to function efficiently.
tnx

September 21st, 2005 04:39 PM #686RE : Brake warning light
Hi Guys, sa biglang decelaration nyo ba na experience and brake warning light? minsan kahit yung ABS warning nag light din ? or sometime yung airbag warning (icon na may tao) ? well this happened to me a three years ago with my Kia Carnival .
Far out ang cause .. but it is for you to verify ..
or simple change of fan belt at 750 pesos sa GoodGear taft avenue
Sana nakatulong ako sa inyo.. kasi medyo mahirap talaga madetect ang cause minsan..
even yung airbag assembly minsan hindi sa airbag ang defect , yung computer wire connection sa loob nang steering naputol kaya iilaw ang airbag . meaning not functioning ... the cost of that is around 4,500 buong assembly (not sure of the right term.. di ako technical eh)

September 22nd, 2005 12:45 PM #689The Sedona/Carnival manual is finished scanning and is already in a CD. The CD says its 178MB! Those who are interested, PM me how you want it. Either send via yahoo, or a cd copy? For those who want via yahoo and provides me with your email add, sabay sabay ko na lang ipadala. It comes in 2 folders, one folder for the owner's manual, and the other for the built in audio system. Each page is 1 jpeg file.

September 22nd, 2005 12:49 PM #690Mikey, I checked our manual, they closest thing I saw to transmission oil is transaxle fluid. Is this the same? If so, it says to replace every 40,000km.
