Need an Ambulance? We sell Zic Brand Oils and Lubricants. Please PM me.
I looked for it but I couldn't find it. Why, does the door ajar light remain on even after you have closed the tailgate?
P.S.
Could the sensors be the two black rectangular spring-loaded thingies on either side of the tailgate? I tried depressing them to check but I couldn't get them to budge.
slight OT:
yung sa delica ko noon, ung switch ay nasa lock mismo. pag binuksan mo yung panel, makakakita ka ng wire leading to the lock itself(ung sumasalo)
kaya may time na pag di maganda sara mo, iilaw ung tailgate...
my engine gave out on me while i was traversing one of the steeper uphill turns in marcos highway last sunday. it was good that i was in an inhabited area near a viewdeck. the was a wide shoulder where i conveniently coasted to park about 30 meters where the engine stopped.
my initial thought was that i was had an injection problem ala toyota D4D (my carnival has a CRDI engine). i restarted the engine twice. it would crank readily but it wouldn't run. fearing the worst, i phoned for a cab to bring a mechanic and to pick us up.
looking around the engine bay while waiting for the taxi, i noticed a loose cover at the area where the a/c and alternator belt is. having no idea what it is, i just left it where it is and informed the mechanic when he arrived.
suspecting a timing belt failure, he took a peek inside the timing belt cover and confirmed it.
i had a the timing belt replacement done by cruven early this year and it had logged 20k km since then. it was too early to have a failure unless i got a defective belt, i thought. i had the car towed to amianan motors in rosario, la union the next day. the service manager told me that a general overhaul is necessary after a timing belt failure due to a possibility of bent valves or at worst, a damaged cylinder head.
the service manager phoned me yesterday morning with a bit of good news. there is no need for a general overhaul after all as the valves are intact. the timing belt didn't fail, it was one of the automatic tensioners that did. it was then that i remembered that since there was no kia tensioner available during the timing belt service, i opted for a replacement part as i was in a hurry.
lesson: ORIGINAL PARTS ONLY PLEASE.
Yep, tried that too. My problem is the opposite, when the tailgate's opened the indicator doesn't light up.
Otep: I've been a regular on this thread since, oh...., page 5 and I didn't remember a discussion about doors so I didn't bother to search. I'll try it see if anything comes up.
Glad you're okay diesoline, and that you only need minor repairs on your Sedona.
DacoTyan,
I think Otep was addressing the question of dmlmusso regarding his broken door handle, and not your query on the tailgate sensor. Guess ko lang po![]()
No... that is not the sensor.... had this problem few years ago and it cost me around P300 at Wheels to have this fixed... i think it is more located inside the sidings of the door and the connections seem to be loose... suggest you open that sidings if you have time and patience then locate the sensor inside.... good luck!![]()
....went to Baguio also last Friday AM but pass thru Kenon Rd and back to Manila last Monday.... my problem was more on my power steering na naging matigas (probably due to Shell ATF fluid accidentally poured by my brother)... anyway i have it drained before pouring new ATF with Dexron III rating bought in Banawe..... the problem worsen last Monday since the car charge do not reach 12volts (i have a digital voltmeter attached) while going down at Kenon.... I had the entire travel without aircon and even NO headlight up to Manila (thanks to my ever-reliable foglight)..... my volt meter reading is only 10.2 all the way to Las Pinas!!!! Just to conserve on the charge, I had to remove 2 park bulbs and regularly turning the park lights off everytime I stopped for traffic.... Now, the car is park with a dead battery and i don't know where to start assessing.... planning to bring the car to Wheels if the engine will allow me to move, otherwise, i'll have it towed to Wheels..... any inputs or similar experience.... TIA![]()
e_chen, same thing happened to me on another car. drained battery while running sounds to me like a busted alternator. if the the car's generator isn't running then it will suck up the battery till it's dry.
if it's the alternator, casas normally won't fix them so it might be good to ask around for a decent auto electrical shop. anyway, the others might have other ideas. the steering problem sounds unrelated.
diesoline, sorry to hear you had a problem. looking back, was it more non-orig part failure and nothing to do with cruven's installation?
my tailgate is also tough to close, i try to compensate by having a door or a window open when it's being closed.
e_chen,
Yup. Looks like a busted alternator. The same thing happened to me. The nice thing about diesel engines is that when they start, they can keep going even if the alternator is weak or busted. Like you, I was able to get home with no aircon, no radio.
I suggest you recharge your battery then bring your Carnival to an electrical shop to have your alternator replaced. Hopefully you get there before your battery gets drained again. Depending on the model of your Carnival, it may use either a 110Watt or 85Watt alternator. My year 2001 Carnival uses an 85Watt alternator which unfortunately cannot be repaired. So I had to get a new one for PHP 17,000! There are 110Watt re-conditioned alternators which costs around PHP 6,000 with a 1 month warrany. I hope this helps.
Looks like almost all of us are having problems with their carnivals/sedonas..![]()
im having two. i think i warped my rotors again. brake pedal pulsates when i step on it. just had it re-grooved a couple of months ago. and, i remember someone posting here about the alignment of the rear tires. i also have this problem pala. i can feel an obvious wiggle during low speeds. tsk tsk.. at first i thought it was the stock hankooks. so i replaced the tires. now almost 2 years after, kapal pa naman ng goma. may wiggle na naman. haaay nako.
e_chen,
try mo muna i check yung IC regulator. i also have encountered that problem. mas mura IC kesa sa bagong alternator![]()
mikey177,
sa tingin ko nasa loob ng door lock mechanism ang sensor nuon. very same complaints talaga tayo..minsan pag di pa naisara ng rear occupants yung rear tailgate, syempre di sila makababa nasa labas ang door handle eh. bababa pa ako para isara uli![]()
dlmusso,
try mo sa signet edsa look for chris.
diesoline,
sorry to hear bout that. im glad nothing happened to you and ur family.
thanks, Leolop,ecport, and benchph1.
Leolop.... steering problem, i think was also present since the problem boils down to the crank shaft pulley bushing....
Ecport.... i started to canvass yesterday for the possible cost of 85 watt alternator and it was pegged from 8K to 10K..... but most of them closes by Sunday 12NN.
Benchph1....may i know where that IC regulator is located? TIA
..... and lastest update is that when i requested for a battery service unit from a very reliable battery dealer (take note: this dealer delivered to me before at my residence the brand new unit, AMARON 3SM, at lower that market price and i can call them anytime for a service unit in case the battery is under warranty while they can check my unit).... anyways, service unit was delivered by 4PM saturday and i was able to start the van..... unfortunately, when i checked the fan belts, i noticed that there was a loose rubber so i had to stop the engine to check.... removing the right front wheel to access these belts, i discovered that the "bushing" of the crank shaft pulley started to warp (brittle na), yun mismo ang natanggal!!!.... i'll post the pix for your reference.... planning to buy the crank shaft pulley tom, kaso set daw yun (i'm needing only the bushing...) you may know some shop who can supply me with this bushing.... TIA![]()
For Carnival peeps going up to Baguio or Northern Luzon, feel free to PM me before your trip so I can send you my cell number.

Incidentally, last week may nakasabay ako na Sedona LS pa-north, ERB-777 yung plaka. Napakabilis magpatakbo. I normally cruise at 80 kph along McArthur Highway, but he passed me right after we got out of Tarlac City. About 10 minutes later, as I was nearing San Manuel he passed me again. Must've been excited to get to Baguio early![]()
Thanks for the offer, puede kaya ibigay mo na ang cel no mo ngayonI'm planning to go to La Union this Christmas.
By the way, my ride is still not running. According to the shop, Cam Sensor daw ang problem kaya after 3 seconds namamatay ang engine. Any comment from anybody?...medyo may kamahalan daw ito kaya canvas muna sila before they proceed the replacement. Whew! it's a month now since the trouble started.
With this, I'm planning to sell it once maayos...if you know someone interested to buy, just PM me.
Hi, witch.
I sent you a PM with my contact details.
There's presently a lot of road work going on in Urdaneta City in connection with the road widening project, but I hope traffic improves before the holidays.
The bypass highway passing through Rosales, Pangasinan is a good alternative for those headed up north.
e_chen,
If you're northbound, at Carmen, Rosales, turn right at the main intersection (kung saan may McDonald's) then turn left somewhere in Rosales proper (may mga sign naman). Dere-deretsong highway sya for the most part. Mas kabisado siguro ni diesoline yung bypass na ito, kasi no choice ako but to pass through Urdaneta since I live there![]()
