November 22nd, 2004 04:37 PM #171Hello Lensio,
Could you provide specifics on the oil catch tank? Does it have an automatic oil drain pipe? How many microns of a partile can it catch? Lastly, How about the price?
tnx

rodski, oil catch tank are simply normal tank with an inlet and outlet. They don't have a filter and automatic drain pipe. Its main purpose it to catch moisture and oil mist from the blow-by gas (componet of a turbo), that causes carbon and sludge build-up in the intake system and the engine. Thus it is connected between intercooler and intake pipe. Normally there is a PVC pipe (black) on the right side of the intercooler outlet. This pipe is directly connected to the intake manifold. November 22nd, 2004 06:12 PM #173Lensio, where does the other 2 pipes/lines in the oil catch (encircled in red and cyan) lead to ?
what sort of maintenance do you need to perform on oil catch tank (e.g. regular cleaning) ?

bers, the cyan circle in connected to the intake pipe manifold. On the original setup, you have to cut this PVC tubing and insert the oil catch tank. (like a heart bypass), this is simple a level indicator on how much the tank is full. So it is important that the installation of the tank is vertical. To drain the oil, you need to unscreew a bleeder under the tank.
Normal it takes long time before it would be filled. If your turbo is leaking oil, you could immediately notice na madaling mapuno yung tank.

very nice
i think this can be done DIY.
lensio i noticed that you've got additional grounding wires too..just want to ask what are your grounding points? (where are they installed)

Grounding is to minimize high frequency noise in amateur radio equipment. It's also DIY.

no i meant what are the particular areas in the engine where you installed them? i also did that to my carnival...presently i have three grounding points :
1. intake manifold
2. transmission
3. alternator
i've noticed you have 7?

Besides the 3 you mentioned, there actually 10 points, remaining 7 were connected to the following:
1.Body
2.Starter Ground
3.right fender and body bolt (noticed on the right of the pic)
4.left fender and body bolt (not shown)
5. Ground side of the radio
6. Engine Block
7. Engine Head

oh ok thanks
i think you better add additional groundings to the alternator, intake manifold & to the transmission as well. coz they have electronic sensors. most especially the alternator.
your add'l grounding is really intended for your car audio right?
