during my last two trips across the nlex i felt a vibration in the front end of my carnival at speeds above 130. i had my wheels balanced -- the shaking was reduced but there was still a noticeable jiggle. so, i figured it was a good time to try out zee carplus, a big hit at the workshop section.

they reinjected polymer in both of the carnival's ball joints and replaced the torsion bar bushings, all four of them. they also retightened all suspension and undercarriage bolts. work took about four hours. total bill for the services is P1800 and P300 for the bushings they bought in banaue.

i wasn't able to check for the vibration on my trip back but what i immediately noticed upon leaving the shop was a great improvement in the ride of the car. there was a harshness pala in the car's ride that i wasn't able to notice. anyway, i drove through the streets with a feeling bago suspension.

this shop is highly recommended. look for toti cruz, the shop's proprietor-- a great guy!

Thanks for the tip, diesoline. Please let us know if the suspension work they did holds up over time.

the polymer injection service has a 15000km warranty. good enough for me considering the cost (P500 for each ball joint). i am hoping that it will last at least 20000km. it certainly beats the "tansan na pansapin" repair to the ball joints of yore.

the carnival's ball joints are huge! somebody brought in a pair of ball joints from a 10 wheeler dump truck for reinjection. the dump truck's ball joint was only an inch larger in diameter.

i am in the market for new tires. 215/70R/15s. can carnival/sedona tsikoteers who have replaced their tires post reviews on the tires they bought? tnx mucho in advance.

I'm currently using Dunlop Le Mans RV tires (215/70 R15) on my Sedona. I changed them after about using the stock Kumho tires for about 1-and-a-half years. So far they are holding up well, and I have run up to 130 kph with them. Hindi kaya ng puso ko yung mas mabilis dun e

The ride with the Dunlops is comfortable and they help to absorb road shock from the numerous potholes and whatnot along McArthur Highway. I'm really not good at making reviews; basta yung mga pasahero ko wala namang problema, nakakatulog sila ng mahimbing all the way from Tarlac to Urdaneta pag gabi na kami umuuwi.

I had mine replaced with Yokohama 215/75 R15 (the one with white stripe), would have gone for the Dunlops but they're hard to find here in Davao.

I'm not sure if mine is the 501, but anyway, here is a photo of the tread pattern on mine. Its looks whiter than it really is because I used a flash when I took the photo earlier today... tsaka hindi pa ako nakapaglinis ng kotse nung kinunan ko

    yan na nga!

what i like about that tire is the wide anti-aquaplaning groove in the center of the tread. i also like the long grooves on the outside wall -- mukhang bagay for cornering on the zigzags.

    tnx mikey177!

    No problem, diesoline.

The wet road performance of these Dunlops has been very good for me so far. Naalala ko pa nung nag-aquaplane ako dati nung Kumho pa ang gamit ko, scared the heck out of me. That hasn't happened yet with the Dunlops, even at speeds of 80 kph under heavy rains (of course, I only go this fast when overtaking, tapos baba na uli sa 60 or 70, para safe).

it's a good time to change tires at this time of year anyway. aquaplaning is a frightening reality in the northern highways. lalo na in your daily route. there are a lot of pooled water spots in the northbound stretch after tarlac city.

Ok yan dunlop. Ganyan din yun tires ko after maoblong yung original kumho. I got the dunlops sa pricemart some three years ago. Mura na libre pa and tire rotation at vulcanizing (life time ng tire - just show the receipt).

Today manipis na yung tire so I have to buy a new set. Tempted lang ako ngayon mag concept one na 17". 5 spokes. Ganda kasi yung nakita kong concept one na kinabit sa sedona sa showroom ng kia Q ave. They chare 60K additional so bnew na sedona v6.

How much kaya pag sa tireshops and concept one?

    tnx

Oh yeah... I remember that stretch. One time, in 1993, I went through it past 10pm after a heavy downpour on a moonless, cloudy night and hit a large and pool of water at 90kmh. I felt the right-front side of the car start to float luckily there was no traffic or obstruction so I just stayed the course and did nothing. I was driving a 1992 Lancer GLX then.

Ayos yung username mo a, subliminal ang dating.

Anyway, when I was having service done at Wheels New Manila, I used Shell Helix. When I moved to the province, the casa here used Gulf. Now that my ride is out of warranty and I am no longer tied to the casa, I use Caltex Delo Sports. I haven't noticed any perceptible difference in performance with the three motor oils, but then again, I'm not really a sensitive guy.

I use mobile one delvac synthetic motor oil. Been using it after my two year warranty expired (Nov 2003). Suwabe ang dating. I make sure that the oil you use passes the DS1 test. Maraming oil hanging CF lang.

DS1 I beleieve is the latest test for turbo charged diesel engines.

    tnx

Since most of the time I drive my carnival from las pinas to Alabang, My oil change is above 15K km. Thats three oil changes per one delvac oil change. So thats about one year from my last oil change. Tapos 0.86 ang emission tests ko last June. Diesel fuel I use is mixed with 1 liter bioexceed per full tank (70 li).

Wow ganda siguro yung 9 spoke. last I ask sa roadstar sa alabang 5 spoke concept one is 31K no tires.

    tnx rodski

    mikey177: try this site

    filter by 17" wheels
mille miglia evs = concept one 5 spoke (tomahawk)
borbet type ca = concept one 7 spoke (titan) this was the 9 spoke i was referring to in my earlier post
borbet type ts = a 9 spoker but looks like the 7 spoker havoc by concept one.
