the one that i replaced, yung nasira was the replacement filter for the sedona that i bought sa casa... it was sitll fairly new kaya laking gulat ko nung binuksan ko...

yung K&N na filter ang pinalit ko ngayon... not 4k... got it for $30...

$30 for a K&N Drop-In Filter for Sedona? Wow mura nun ah!

Based on the previous pages, since very few shops have those for the Carnival/Sedona, expensive ang local pricing nya around 4k if I read correctly.

I am being offered a 04 Sedona V6 Gasoline engine automatic version. As most posts here are for the diesel, is Php 450k a good price? I noted that someone bought a 02 Diesel for Php 500k. So I suppose not many like the V6. What are the disadvantages aside of gas consumption? What is the typical city driving gas mileage of a V6 A/T Carnival?
I decided to look at the Carnival after being scared off by many Tsikoteers to stay away from the Venture that seemed good price at only Php 330-350k for a low mileage 02 model.

    Thanks in advance.

Maybe you could consult a lawyer about it. I would suggest posting your dilemma in the Goonsquad Subforum. Maybe our fellow Tsikoteers could give you a better idea of how to proceed.

Try searching for posts by a forum member named "witch." She has (or had, I am not sure) a V6 Sedona that gave her serious engine trouble several pages ago.

    hello mga sirs,

just came from ZEE's yesterday to have mg suspension checked up and also my clutch ( medyo hard na to shift gears )..... so verdict was change L/R shocks so front, steering boot, outer axle boot , strut clamp housing...then to replace the clutch they have to take down the engine daw...

total with parts and labor is about P17K...I can bring in my own parts if anything.

    what do you guys think?

ganon ba talaga ang carnival just to change the clutch e kailangan pang ibaba ang engine?
what else should i have checked out if ever i do have them take down the engine?

    salamat po

"ganon ba talaga ang carnival just to change the clutch e kailangan pang ibaba ang engine?
what else should i have checked out if ever i do have them take down the engine?"

Utakabo: Thanks for the info on the talyer, it just seems a little too far for me.

Kenzie: I just had my clutch disk and pressure plate replaced but mine is manual transmission. Oo baba talaga engine. My mechanic just made it hang without removing the engine support #3 (the biggest and the one on top). Sobrang bilib siya sa pang ilalim sobrang bigat daw. While down there we looked at the other engine supports and we replaced 3. And yes, I was from antipolo and just spend a lot of time in the Cainta area for one reason or another. I think I will skip utakabo's talyer since it is all the way up in Antipolo proper. For the clutch this is what I spent:
    Parts from Goodgear:
Pressure Plate: 2,400; Bearing 80; Release
bearing assy: 500; Clutch Disk: 2,600
    Eng Support # 2&4: 1,000 ea; Eng Sup # 1: 800
    Labor :
    2,500
I spent about 8,080 only for the clutch alone. You might be interested in my mechanic if you find it cheap. His shop is near junction. It is a little shabby but I meet clients of his coming all the way from Makati and San Juan. I even met one who brought his car there because one big talyer along ortigas extn. gave up on his car and just recommended him. In my very humble opinion he is really good and cheap. He used to work for Mitsu and specializes in A/T. He has done a Carnival A/T supposedly brought to him by KIA Wheels themselves and he has the complete A/T service manual to show for it. Admittedly, though, he has not done much work on Sedonnas.

Guru Mikey: Thanks for the welcome note. My wife is from Calasiao and we go there about once month. And thank you for selflessly taking care of us newbies.

Guru Diesoline: Thanks for the pm.

I drove from one end of Evangelista to the other looking for my sliding door and did not find any. I also walked Banaue from Q ave to E rod and just found one surplus assembly * 12,500 and one new one * 10,000.

For Sedonaers looking for surpluses this is what I found: The best bet in Banaue is K Mobis 4141383/7431102

Aside from Goodgear and Fronte which is the best bet for spare parts you can also try the following:
    Hybrid 7319861/4126774 and Presto 7120097/7120119

If you are looking for the much sought after Carnival II center wheel cover, "Hybrid" has 2 left for 900 ea.

Like boquito, my Carnival is an M/T, and I just had the clutch disk replaced last October because of a shuddering sensation whenever I move forward from first gear. I had mine done in Kia Pangasinan, because it would cost almost the same if I drove all the way to Manila to buy parts, plus the additional time I would use up. Yes, they have to take the engine down to replace the clutch.

No problem, bro. I'm just paying it forward. Also, huwag mo na kami tawagin na guru ni diesoline, although may edad na kami (hehe, peace diesoline), lahat naman tayo may matututunan sa isa't-isa at lahat tayo ay dapat maging open sa mga bagong kaalaman

BOQUITO: thanks so much for all the info on the parts and price when you had your clutch done salamat po. Also i'll let you know if ever i will need your mechanic one of these days. Im gonna check out the mechanic that KCARNIVAL suggested first.

Gandang hapon po! Fellow Carnival owner here. I am about to change my engine support this month. This information is a real help, kasi yung Kia Authorised service center sa Dasma Cavite, qouted me a price which was quite high kung tama pagkaalala ko was 2k+ per engine support. Dipa kasam labor.

I will also be changing all my four tires (finally at talagang maipis na) .. I am eyeing on Dunlop LM702, yung dati kasi Dunlop LeMans RV 501. Qouted price was 3200/tire...

    Any info's please?

    TIA

    francomigz,

Casa or casa-accredited establishments typically have higher prices for parts and labor than third-party service centers. Dito sa Pangasinan minsan 100% ang increase sa presyo kumpara sa Banawe.

We don't have any Dunlop LM702 here (I have to travel to Tarlac for that), but the Dunlop EC201 tires cost P3,700 each here, so I'd say you're getting a good price at P3,200.

i am barely holding back my anger on my sedona. after sending it to the casa 3 times already for the past 2 months for a whirring sound in the engine, which on the 1st time, they said it was the belt tensioner and crankshaft pulley. Then in a few weeks time, I noticed the whirring sound slowly coming back. So after a month (di mo naman pwede balik balikan sa casa just like that, because of our schedules), sent it back in. This time, it was the bearing, plus the tensioner for the timing belt. BUT, this time, the whirring sound was more evident. And the service advisor said it was my injection pump. WHAAAT? At 56K mileage, they said my injection pump is suspect, and needs calibration. DOUBLE WHAAAT?!! Because at around 25-30K, when my car was still under warranty, they had to fix my injection pump. When I asked the service advisor, sabi niya it wasnt just mere calibration and cleaning of the pump, but some parts were replaced. I told them do they really know what they were doing, and if the other parts replaced were really defective or not. Sabi naman sa akin, they were all defective. They need to call up the shop who did the calibration before, though they were non committal if it can be considered backjob or under warranty since its over a year ago.

I am soo disappointed. The service advisor told me its only my car they are experiencing with. Either my unit is really a lemon or kia is really not that durable. I am slowly believing the latter.

Hey Altec, d pala ako nagiisa. I have had the same experience as yours and to think my sedona LS is only 53k mileage. At first mahina ang sound then lumalakas. Kia New Manila told me to replace the alternator and aircon belts, idler pulley, crankshaft pulley and the auto tensioner. Without knowing if these parts were really the culprit, had to change them for fear it might have a bigger impact...laki rin ng nagastos ko. Lo and behold, after afew weeks may ingay na naman and this time they told me to replace the alternator idler pulley.. nak ng*#$%...and the cost was no joke. i am hoping that this is the last of the repairs. All in all, at 53k mileage, the following were the parts that have been replaced:
    1. Intermidiate shaft
    2. Alternator (but this was when it was still under warranty)
    3. alternator and aircon belts( 2x changed)
    4. radiator fan motor (2x changed because of stuck up)
    5. and the things mentioned above
I hate to compare but i sold my toyota revo SR at 65k mileage and the only thing that i was able to replace was the fan belt!!!

Also, since i log in very seldom, i would like to thank all the people here who keep sharing valuable info regarding our rides. It was and is really very helpful. I posted my car's problem a few months back and people where very accomodating...and because of their feedbacks, i was able to pinpoint the problem and buy the parts needed. More power to this thread

Yung kuliglig sound ba, pag-start mo lang naririnig, o andun pa rin kahit naka-idle at warm up na yung kotse?

Had the same problem, in the morning i can hear it then it just goes away...my sedona is the 2003 diesel LS model...replaced the alternator idler pulley (plastic type for my model)...the cost of the part is around P980 but the labor is almost P2,000 at the casa...nawala na ang ingay...hope this helps
