hi guys, sportage owner here. just got my ride last september. i immediately had my tires replaced with yokohamas (lifetime warranty as long as my tread pa) and traded in the bnew hankooks. rami na rin kasi ako naririnig na nakakatakot sa hankooks. :D

Well ganyan talaga ang speed ng crdi engines with vgt coming from hyundai and kia. The fastest I got using my carens is around 210kph having a full load and the aircon was still on. The car was still so stable and you can't feel much of the adrenalin rush. The tach reading is almost 4k rpm. I think carens can go as fast as 230+ kph.

For the info of everbody: My girl's name is CARENS M/T, she is quite young, only 10 month but already has experience,ODO reads 29k to prove it. That's how hard my baby drive. She looks like an angel with her simplicity and smooth lines but don't be fooled, my baby got attitude. Pissed her up and she will outrun you easy, my baby reach 210k/h just for the fun of it. She is not demanding, she has reached 23.9 k/l but if she's pissed she can reach 8k/l especially sa trafic, mainitin ang ulo . By the way, she's getting new shoes this week, her old one(hankook) won't cut it anymore. I will buy her a better shoes even before her 1st birthday. She's a survivor of typhoon frank and still as fit and lovely as the first time I set my eyes at her . I love my baby and my baby loves me back.

it was dark and raining hard one night I was at pasay road making a left turn to edsa, di ko napansin yung parang island dun I turned too soon and the driver side front tire sort of went over hard at that island.. ayun sumabog yun gulong. naisip ko baka may bakal dun na nakatusok or something pero pag tingin ko sa butas (well, its more of a big tear than a hole) e parang wala hindi naman natusok kasi sa loob galing yung tear.

nag complain ako sa signet. ipapadala daw sa hankook for investigation pero in the end hindi daw covered ng warranty. Napansin ko din parang manipis yung goma ng hankook at parang konti lang yung "thread" (di ko alam tawag, basta yung thread like thing na nasa loob nung rubber) hence parang madaling napunit.

As a remedy, our suking vulcanazing shop has several used tires for sale. I saw a goodyear tire that looks fresh. So far 6 months na at good pa. Hindi ko na pinalitan ng bago kasi I'll be upgrading to a new tires and wheels in a couple of months (still saving).

possible na yung side wall ng tire ang tinamaan kaya sumabog... most tires talaga manipis ang side wall for comfort kaya lang pag tinamaan madaling sumabog... ingat lang talaga sa mga bangketa pag yung gilid talaga tumama mataas ang probability na sumabog if not magka bukol lang...

I read in the carens manual that the top speed (theoretically) is 180 kph. But the power under the hood can give you more than that that's why a lot of carens owners have gone beyond that speed point (180kph).

Well, a lot of Carens drivers here are responsible drivers at best. Na te tempt lang sila (err kami ) paminsan minsan (na humataw) kasi nga ewan ko..there's some force acting on your sensibilities when you get to drive one. But whenever they post such tremendous speeds here, it is not really their intention to mislead potential buyers. They are just trying to share the once in a lifetime experience..


But it is really best to drive carefully and at safe speeds..mahirap magsisi sa huli.

Even the Fortuner 3.0L with 163hp is only getting 180kph max speed. I tried this one already. For Carens, with its smaller body, I can only believe that it will reach 190kph considering 6 speed M/T with 140hp.

In reality, bro... you can go faster than what is on the speedometer. It's not because the limit on the speedometer is 190, you can't go faster. If you reached the limit, you can still feel the added acceleration. Although I haven't tried this on my Carens... I have experienced this on a box type GSR Lancer. The limit was only 180 on the Lancer but we overtook a Mercedes Benz driven by another friend who was already running at 200.

I think its there is no doubt IMO that the fortuner can go further beyond its top speed of 180kph, but i think the question is kaya ba ng dibdib mo to go further beyond its top speed. There are some issues you have to think before you try to go beyond the top speed of the fortuner and one of them is the high center of gravity, dont know but ako medyo takot ako pag medyo mataas ang isang sasakyan, yung papasok sa isip ko ay mag roll over ito, but the carens is different, lower center of gravity...and low center of gravity means less wind drag and maybe...and i said maybe...a little percent na mag roll over, that is my opinion lang

a purely stock carens can manage 200kph+, go over the previous pages and see for yourself a carens at 200kph with six adults on board paging sir schumi

IMO, manufacturer's specs are not always accurate, you simply cannot take it hook, line,and sinker. To erase the doubts that you have, take a carens for a spin..peace bro

On a different note, a carens will smoke a fortuner 3.0 anytime on the highway. I have proven this not once but twice, with modesty aside.

sabi naman ni sir Mschumacker "...I think carens can go as fast as 230+ kph." di naman nya sinabi that his carens reached that speed. And I agree with him 100%. Why? because I've driven our carens at 160++ and I can feel that the engine can still give more. Will I dare try 230 hell no, my heart can't take that, but on the theory that it can reach 230... I agree.

while manufacturer listed 190 as top speed, that engine will not stop when pushed harder to reach more. wala naman siguro intention mga tao dito to mislead the reader.. excited lang sila (kami pala) sa power ng carens.
