Thanks guys for the quick response, kala ko yung carens ko lang ang di na tune up eh, kasi may nabasa ako sa hyundai sta fe thread that dapat tune up should be done every 5kms pms, anyway, thanks again.![]()
Guys, has any of you experienced medyo mabagal tumakbo ang carens nyo??? yung bang when you press the accelerator (not fully press but maybe half-way or wala pa nga), ang bagal tumakbo (as in parang crawling or parang gumagapang lang sya)then bigla na lang syang...boom...sudden force of accelaration, and when you look at the back, black smoke coming out of the exhaust, ano kaya ito??? 1st time ko na experience this, the temp of the engine is around 1/4 pa lang sa gauge kasi i was kinda waiting for a long time for my kids sa school.
Is it bcoz the engine is cold (but i doubt it)??? I will observe bukas yung takbo ng carens ko, pag ganun pa rin, i will bring it to the dealer for check-up. my ODO reading is 8200+kms, last pms was last year September. My carens is a/t pala.
its normal for the carens engine.. why?? take note that your engine is drive by wire.. no accelerator cables are attached to your throttle.. when you step on the accelerator it detects how much you press and reflects it to the engine via a servo controller.. in this way the ECU will have a better control for the engine to maximize and improve engine combustion.. in your case the ECU delayed the fuel delivery to your engine since its not yet on normal operating temp!
Unlike in a conventional diesel engine, if you need power even in low rpm, just press the accelerator more for more fuel! Yes, the engine will have the pulling power but will result in smoke puffing out the exhaust due to too much unburned fuel..
sometimes you will also feel a "lag" especially when the engine is running on "low RPM", the ECU will not deliver the power until the engine reaches its optimum RPM range (at around 1,800 RPM) this way the engine will have a enhanced combustion and better emission.
for the black smoke its also normal, don't forget that the carens is still using diesel fuel especially here in the philippines that we do not use low-sulfur diesels.. soot can still form inside the exhaust system.. one way to removing this soot buid-up is to drive the engine hard

My Carens is also A/T, sometimes there's a lag but not too long though. I always make it a point to look at the rearview mirror to check if there is black smoke emitted, but so far, wala naman. It is wise to floor the Carens once in a while to dislodge the soot... you will certainly enjoy the temporary rush.
What I noticed lately is a noise sa steering while the temperature hasn't reached its optimum level... the noise or creaking sound goes away after some time. Still, I wonder if this is normal.... anyway, it's almost time for my 15K pms, pa-check ko na lang.
Update: my carens is running normal, no lag or slow down so far, tama nga si sir yapoy 86, baka na detect lng ng ECU that im flooring the pedal to hard, or maybe what i feel is turbo lag.
Guys, I feel something whenever I do this:
Im cruisin at about 60-70 kph on a curve...when I step on the brakes to gradually slow down, I feel something strange with the brakes parang may tumutunog at nagvi vibrate sa ilalim...
This happens everytime i do this..mas malala kapag mabilis ako (something like 80) at kapag masyadong malalim ang apak ko sa brakes...
The brakes are okey naman..kaso yun lang concern ko as of the moment..
'hope this is normal...anyone of you experienced this?
thanks sir Val, I again tried this (speed up on a curve then apply the brakes) along Pugo, La Union on my way back to Baguio. Daming curves din kasi dito. Nawala na yung vibration pero ang naririnig ko na lang eh parang nagkikiskisan na bakal..mahina lang naman so I think hindi naman major concern ito at the moment..i hope.![]()
brought my carens today sa service center, found out that air filter is very dirty and clog up and had to replace it with new one.
Greetings to all the happy Carens owners out there. Bought my M/T Carens Oct,08 and am having a great ride with it. I would like to ask if the rear wheels, specifically the right one is really splayed like that. It seems too off vertical to me. Does anyone have experience with this matter? Thanks.
in technical term positive or negative camber... in tagalog bisaklat.. in our case negative camber when the rear is fully loaded
use in sentence.. " Pare, bakit ganun yung carens parang naka bisaklat yung gulong lalo na pag puno ng sakay..."
this is common problem with multi-link suspension..
OT: I observe this also to most Honda CRV especially on the rear.. you can see the tire thread pattern is not even and worn out on the inner side.,, this can be solved by adjusting the camber of the rear wheels, or raising the suspension to compensate the negative camber
