Compared to the Innova's 3rd row seats, how are the 3rd row seats of the Carens?
The P1M+ EX CRDi has a drivers airbag only and no ABS right? or has it been updated?
Sir Wavexcs and to all carens owners, Nag apply bah kayo ng undercoating or rustproofing sa underchassis??? Is it advisable to apply it now or saka na??? Many Thanks!!!![]()
Malaki ba difference ng Innova sa Carens? I'm supposed to get an Innova G 2.5 dsl d4d AT next mo.
If you're talking about the engine's performance, it's the Carens over the Innova. As to the interior appointments, I'd also go with the Carens. But when you're talking about space, the Innova gives me the impression of more room compared to the Carens.
Yup, +1 on this.
here is my answer:
>> FC - can't say for sure because I don't own an innova. but i've driven one long enough to drain a full tank and based on that, i'd say about even with the innova winning by just a bit.. just a bit.
>> interior, suspension - excuse lang po sa innova owners, carens wins here. simply better interior features, better ride.
>> torque, speed - carens wins. special mention sa torque ang layo ng difference.
>> seating capacity, cargo space (with all seats in use) - innova wins
>> looks - this is subjective but imho, carens wins.
i am not much of a car reviewer and i dont mention my opinions based on paper specs but these opinions are based on what i experienced driving both vehicles. i mentioned numerous times in this forum that i did not thought i would buy a kia but i did, and so i feel like i should advocate the brand for people (just like me) who wouldn't even give the korean brands a second look because of misconceptions about the brand's dark past. this is my way of giving back the favor the tsikot community has given by way of information. test drive mo lang bro, and see for yourself.
* sir vinrem: hindi po ako nagpa undercoat. i asked my SA (before the purchase) and he said my factory rusproofing/undercoat na daw (like all cars I supposed) so no need. nire-research ko pa din kung papa undercoat ko pero tingin ko kung sakali e saka na lang. yung 6 year old highlander namin di rin naman pina undercoat e good pa naman.
Here's my reasons for getting the CRDI LX MT Carens:
1. Fuel Consumption - being a diesel, I'm looking at around 10km/ltr, more than that will be very good.
2. Seating capacity- having 3 kids + 1 yaya, the 3rd row is very useful, especially on sudden instances when my in-laws would ride with us for the sunday mass.
3. Size- it is almost the same size as my previous spacewagon, which easily fit in my 1-car garage house. I tried the Innova but it's tailgate will bump my house's window.
4. Price- I only added P100k from my company's car loan of P750k.
5. Ride height/ feel - again, just like the spacewagon, I feel that I'm driving a sedan.
6. Interior- lots of cubby holes/ compartments, the 3rd row folds flat for the groceries, balikbayan box, and the best part is- the 2nd row could be streched to create sleeping bed for kids.
Hope this helps!
Heres the reason why i bought the Carens CRDI LX A/T:
But like sir wavecxs said, test drive it and see for yourself
- Car like interior
- Car like ride and comfort
- Lots and lots of torque
- Easy for my wife and the kids to get in and out of the car
- Powerfull 2.0 CRDI VGT engine
- 7seater
)
Sir wavecxs thanks pala sa info.![]()
KALAWANG, BOGART and BONECHIP - congrats on your new rides!!! Ayan, lumalaki na rin community natin!
BOGART, swak tayo sa fc. I did 2 top ups and ang average ko is 11.5km/l. Since Christmas (siyempre grabe trapik) at under break in pa naman siya, inasahan ko mababa pa ditto ang consumption ko. Kaya I was pleasantly surprised sa nakuha kong resulta.
VINREM and other fellow owners, I strongly suggest you have undercoating. Muntik ko na makalimutan i-post ito. I had mine done last week. At kinutuban ako kasi when I went under, nakita ko puro puti pa ilalim (white kinuha ko). Basta dapat ipa-kalas niyo yung plastic wheel well covers para ma-coat yung ilalim niya. A little expense will go a long, long way talaga.
KALAWANG, maganda yan fc mo…

BONECHIP, is this what you're looking for?

AG4, the 3rd row seats are quite decent although I haven’t tried them since I’m always the designated driver! Pero if you move the 2nd row seats forward, both will give decent leg room. Nga lang talaga, wala nang allowance for any cargo if you use the 3rd row. Ang solution na lang is a roof box (thule) or rack (carryboy, shark, thule, etc.).
Our reasons for the Carens were:
Wifey:
1 – legroom (nasanay sa lite ace!)
2 – passenger carrying capacity (similar to the lite ace)
Mine:
1 – Fuel economy (kaya diesel)
tnx po...got my unit a month ago n d seat covers are quite a mess. BTW my unit is a CRDI MT, no regrets n picking this over jap brands..a miser n powerful engine..
Hi guys,
I'm a newbie here but I've been lurking here long before I registered, because I'm planning to buy a car/vehicle soon...
For the longest time, I have owned and driven a second hand car (first, a 1995 Mazda 323; then, a 1997 Suzuki Esteem; now, a 1998 Nissan Sentra). Now that I'm married with two kids, I want to "upgrade" to a bigger car on a budget. With my budget ceiling of P900K (possibly stretchable to P950K), I have narrowed it down to these choices:
1. Toyota Innova (the J model or possibly the E model)
2. Isuzu Crosswind (I got intrigued by their XTi Limited Edition)
3. Chevrolet Optra Wagon (seems like value for money - is this Japan made?)
4. Kia Carens (currently my top choice because of all the posts here)
5. Hyundai Tucson (probably the entry level due to my budget)
6. Kia Sportage (probably the entry level due to my budget)
Of course, I would love to be able to choose the most durable and reliable one among the bunch, with an eye for value-for-money and great after-sales service. So far, I'm leaning towards the Kia Carens because of all the great feedback posted here but I have several concerns:
1. As with most of the members here, I have a generally negative impression of Korean auto-makers like Kia. Although from the posts here and from what I have seen of Korean cars on the road, it appears that Kia and Hyundai have greatly improved through the years. However, I'm still curious how good Kia's (and Hyundai's) quality is. For example, the Kia Carens is fairly new in the market and may look and feel good. But, is it durable? Three or five years down the road, will the Carens still be in tiptop shape (assuming the usual upkeep)?
2. My dad used to have a diesel Sentra (the box type) and although the fuel cost was much less than the cost for a gasoline car, his maintenance cost for that car was fairly high - much higher, I would think, than what would be normally spent for maintaining a gasoline car. Is this still the case nowadays? I know that almost everyone is raving about the new CRDi technology but I just want to be assured that the fuel savings on a CRDi will not be offset by high maintenance cost (as compared to a gas version).
3. How good is Kia's (and Hyundai's for that matter) after-sales service? Do they really take care of the customer? And are the spare parts/accessories for the Kia Carens (and other models) readily available? Because, no matter how good the service is, if the parts are not available, then the waiting time will also be a hassle.
4. How significantly better is the fuel consumption/efficiency of the Carens CRDi version as compared to the Carens gas version?
Ummm.... that's it for now. I apologize for the long rant but I just want to try to cover all bases. I hope you guys can help me out. Thanks again!![]()
1. Durability... well, it's an unknown... from personal observation and talking with other owners, it seems the transmission (clutch for the manual, the transmission itself, for the automatic) would be the weakest link... but it'll depend on driving habits... even new Japanese cars have problems, so it's russian roulette, whatever you buy.
2. Injectors are the main weak point for any CRDi. Some, like Toyota, have problems early on... others, like Hyundai-Kia, BMW, Audi, only start experiencing problems after around 150,000 or more kilometers. But it depends on where you fill up and what diesel you buy... the new diesel products are better... as long as you don't buy from the same pumps as the PUJs do, you should be fine. And yes, the additional fuel savings outweigh the maintenance expense versus a gasoline car, despite diesels here needing a change every 5000 kms versus 10,000 kms for some Japanese gas cars.
3. It'll depend on the dealer. Hyundai has a stronger dealership network, but there are some good Kia dealers out there.
4. I haven't driven the gasoline Carens... but I'd say it's a difference of about 2-3 km/l.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
*mqavila>>
i used to hate korean cars until folks here at tsikot opened my eyes to go ahead and give the koreans a second look... and i did, I've test drove the carens, the getz and the tucson. I'm impressed!
After months of more research and test drives (from dealers, relatives and friends) I decided the carens is the car we were looking for. Simply, in the mpv/auv segment, the carens is the best car out there now, for the price.
sa durability, well ito ang unknown sa ngayon, but the trust in the brand has got to start somewhere. Di ba ganito din ang dilemna sa honda the first time they launch the civic here?
crdi vs gas in terms economy.. well ganito inisip ko bago kami bumili dati. doble tipid sa diesel, why? because (1) diesels sells cheaper than gas and (2) FC is definitely better, kaya crdi ang binili namin. and now having bought the carens, i could safely confirm that it is more economical to drive that the civic and corolla. also, the extra torque of the crdi won over the petrol.
well good luck sa pagpili mo, wala naman talo sa mga choices mo e, kung ako nga lang i probably will drop the chevy optra on the list![]()
