Meron na bang naka-experience sa inyo na when you turn the ignition key, nothing happens? No light on the dash, no engine cranking sound, nothing...

I experienced it twice already the past 2 months, the first time, I almost panicked dahil nag-mamadali ako to go to an appointment. It turned out that I left my SF parked with the tranny set to 'D'. When I moved it to 'P', nag-start na siya without any problems.

Second time happened just 2 days ago. The car was not used the day before the incident due to coding. When I started it, nothing happened again and I was thinking that maybe the battery died already (have not changed the battery since getting the unit in Aug 2007). I was getting ready to transfer to another ride when I thought of trying it one more time, to my surprise, the engine started. After that, no sign of the problem once again...

Any ideas? Should I just go ahead and change batteries?

Regarding the D yes ganun talaga yun the car will not start as a safety feauture if the tranny is left in D. As for the 2nd incident I am not 100% but that's typical battery problem.

and with regards to your battery parang ambilis naman madead ng battery considering you just got the SF aug. of 2007, so wala pa 2years? may we now sir if ilan na nalologged mo sa ODO?

Baka naman kasi hindi TROPICALIZED yung battery (aba free plug for Motolite ) kaya namatay agad. Yung Santa Fe kasi natin Korean CBU yan kaya pati yung battery Korean kaya hindi sanay sa init ng Pilipinas... No seriously, talk about this with your CASA and see what they can suggest.

You cant start an A/T while engaged in Reverse or Drive as a safety feature. Maybe the second time, it was still engaged which is why it failed to start again.

ODO reading is at 17,500+ KM. Although have several instances where SF was just idling for about an hour or so.

What's the usual life of a battery anyway? Read somewhere that for brand new cars, ok na ang uma-abot ng 1.5 years? Can't recall where I read that though.

The 2nd time this happened, my first instinct was to check the tranny since I had the experience before and I was certain that it was in Park...

kung lobat dapat may redondo ang starter(1 o 2 ikot) tapos may sound na"tik tik tik"...........

Check the contacts of the battery. it may be dirty...

Walang sound at walang ilaw sa dash. kahit bukas ang door ko, wala rin yung door open light at that time. Sige, gamitin ko muna ang alternate key ko at pa-check ko na rin yung isa. Thanks!

It happens to me before and i blame it to the turbo timer which was newly installed that time...i called up the shop and he ask me if my tranny was on D mode..then i found out that it was on D mode nga...safety features po yan ng Sf natin...

Hi my suspect is the battery. I have experience it twice on two different A/T vehicles, both less than 2 years old. HT

It happens to me also, I left the shifter to "D" and when I tried to start the next day, ayaw mag start. Nagpanic ako akala ko kung anu diperensya til mapansin ko na naka "D" pala ang trany

Sir Mnmg, Its really worth it. the only down side (besides that its untested) is that with all that torque, we'd need better brakes. hehe
