    just did a 100km run.

    106.3 km / 13.94li of diesel = 7.625 km/l

    based on the following conditions;

    1, pure city driving.

2, engine never rev beyond 2000 rpm - due to increased torque. i did not have any need to mash the gas pedal as i overtake other cars.

3, no racing with other cars - on a stoplight to stoplight basis, once other saw me pulling away, they usually do not want to race anymore...

My normal driving nets about 7km/l.

I did raced with a pesky 2006? model 1.5 vtec City before i start my FC test.

Lets just say that he was surprised that my SF can outrun his car easily (on a straight road) even though he is already hi rev-ving his engine.

"For decades, the Koreans have wandered in the desert of the automobile industry, searching for the vehicle that would propel them into becoming a major player in the global car market. For the longest time, they have pursued their automotive oasis built on their perseverance and hard work. Still, it hardly translated into Japanese-like quality, resulting in a stigma that wasn’t easy to shake off.

Finally, the skills they have learned from their mistakes are beginning to show. Not only have they created a good vehicle, they’ve actually created a desirable one. No longer content to play the reliability card, they want the full house of customer aspiration, a hand usually dealt to the Japanese big boys and the German marques. And judging by the Santa Fe, it looks like the Koreans now have the upper hand.

Okay, enough with the introduction. Normally, a proper review would have the conclusion and the recommendation at the end. But we’ll make an exception this time. Bottom line is we love it. If you have a million-and-a-half pesos and you’re looking for a car, don’t bother calling Botchi Santos for a “Wrong Car, Right Car” assessment. Just head over to the nearest Hyundai dealer and get one of the sweetest SUVs on sale right now.

Our unit comes in what looks like metallic maroon, but according to Hyundai, the color is Superior Red. The Santa Fe is handsome, muscular and proportionate. Its stance is SUV-macho, yet not hardcore testosterone-y. This car is calculated to appeal to the growing fun, fearless female demographic as well. A wise move by Hyundai.

There’s the big grille, the sleek, swept-back headlights, the flush fog lamps, twin exhausts, a bulging feature line snaking its way across the sides. All these little details come together and succeed in making the Santa Fe one of the most visually arresting SUVs to come in recent years not just from Hyundai, but from any carmaker.

Sometimes, a good-looking car is let down by its interiors. No matter how impressed the people are outside ogling its appearance, it has to please its master first. Not just through a handsome interior, but a very functional one. On these two counts, the Santa Fe passes with flying colors.

Leather seating is nothing new in today’s market. Even the SUV sales champ, the Toyota Fortuner, now sports leather seats. Interesting timing, too: The Fortuner’s leather seats came just a few months after the Santa Fe had been launched. Even Toyota must be somewhat threatened.

Instead of the usual beige, the Hyundai’s leather upholstery is black with red piping. It gives off a very racy and sleek look.

The sound system is also topnotch, more than enough for most people. It’s an OEM integrated system with an MP3-capable CD and cassette player (we wonder who still uses these) that pumps out driving music through six speakers. According to Hyundai, another reason for the good sound is the internal amplifier, a very rare feature in a stock vehicle"

It reminds me when I'm looking for car to buy
Pain in the *ss review ginawa ko to get the full view buying this car, at the end naging proud SF owner narin!

    Sir Dragonheart,

I had my engine repaired kasi and I cant remember the original cover. My SF is the 2008 model. Sabi ng casa, ganun talaga ang cover but I refuse to believe them kasi ang pangit naman kung nakaexpose yung mga wires sa bandang likod.

If yours is the 08 model, then dapat nga magcomplain ako kasi hindi pareho yung covers natin. TIA

At least you get to keep the mags/wheels.
    Pero yung chin total wreck...

If insurance replace with a new unit, what happens to the old one? Mukhang marami pa pwede masalvage dun...

Anyway, welcome po to the club!

Well if the engine is gone, the tranny is gone then its really gonna cost a lot. Buti binayaran ka na ng insurance mo just go wait for the new one then...

Wow what happened sir! As long naman na ok kayo at walang nasaktan, yun ang importante!

Sinali na pala ninyo sa autoshow yan.
Kayo po ba yung naka sound set-up din na nakita ko sa isang carshow?

Yung new Sta. Fe na R-Engine will be released siguro by late 2010 or early 2011 dito sa Pinas.

Aba syempre 5 star rating ata ang Santa Fe natin. Maganda nga yung pagka crumple eh durog harap pero yung passenger compartment didn't even got scathed...

    hi Mamar:

I stand corrected on this, but my guess it will be sometime this year and pretty soon ( either with the new R engine or may revisions lang like add accessories etc sa current line/specs). My family is looking around for SUV and we are seriously considering Santa Fe po.

Comparing to the freebies , discounts they are giving from 2 weeks ago to this week. Super big difference these days. More freebies and much much bigger cash discount plus offering now payment terms even without a loan. So I believe its either one or all of the ff reason why Hyundai is getting a little more aggressive ( I could be wrong po for below reasons, just my own thoughts):

    1. They will launch the new SF soon.

    2. Economic crisis - super slow sales and they want to move their inventories.

    3. Threat from other brand like Montero Sports etc.. So affecting their sales and they have to do something.

It's buyer's market nowadays due to financial crisis. Take advantage of that! Mababa rin ang interest rates. I think deals will just keep getting better until mid of this year.

Mag Santa Fe na po kau... very nice car.

this is nothing new. my 1993 Hilux Surf TDi with 4A/T already has this feature. wherein the engine will only be allowed to crank at "P" position.
