Fellow tsikoteers,- just think carefully about this....
The VIOS changed its body just recently,- but did its price increase by P100K (just for the sake of argument), while giving us a strip down version of the same variant?
I hate to say this, but I should,- Hyundai's Marketing Strategy is High Speed Train Robbery....![]()
And this is for all its Starex variants!

Fe Agudo is HARI EVP/COO. She is an inspiring rags to riches story herself.
Her goal is to bring HARI's market share up to 8% in 2008. She could be the right person at the top who we could bring this to. Every lost sale opportunity makes it more difficult for HARI to reach this market share goal!

i can read her mind. she's just initially offering the LWB starex'es para maipakita sa mga tao na mamahalin na ang starex ngaun and for people to look up to Hyundai kasi presyong Toyota na. then alas next year, Hyundai will again become the best friend of all van lovers, with the introduction of the more affordable SWB.
Hahaha! Now that's optimistic.
I'm glad you share oldblue's optimism. I do too. It really doesn't look good at the moment for Starex fans with a Starex budget.
Except for EQAddict. ;) But then, that's another story. Di naman pang-Starex lang yung budget ni EQAddict. Hehehe!![]()
Suddenly, the top of the line of our beloved Starex is in Toyota Super Grandia territory. I'm sure, with the goodies they've thrown in, it could compete. If it had a 'T' badge, that is.
Don't get me wrong here. I'm a Starex fan. Even with the 2.6L NA being really slow, it was still a great van. But with the way Hyundai is positioning the Grand Starex being different from the original Starex, which sold because it was bang for the buck and value for money, it makes you wonder. Does Hyundai now think it can be as snooty as Toyota and garner the same share in the market?
Haven't heard/read of one yet tho. But I would think there should be. Pasakay na lang sa Grand mo haClosest I'll probably get to a Grand Starex. Hehehe!
I see your points... and I raise them. All in!
But seriously, though painful, what you did was logical. And although your wallet is hurting, at least you have a P300K allowance in this case. But c'mon HARI, what about the rest of the buying public who've been looking forward to the Grand Starex? Do you shortchange them by giving them a stripped down TCi model coz they can't or don't want to cough up the extra 300K? You might as well forget about the Starex as being your best seller and look for something else in your lineup to make your sales.
I'm not underestimating the Filipinos who can buy the Grand Starex without wincing. Go for it. The top of the line CRDi unit has the bells and whistles. I'm complaining, too, in behalf of your fans and would-be fans who are dismayed with your new pricing strategy.
Looks like I'll be loving our current Gen CRDI long time...
Visited a HARI showroom yesterday. According to the sales rep who attended to me, the CRDi variants would indeed come out by the 2nd week of November. The color choices for the TCi models are Black, White, Blue, Red and Gray. These will be the same color lineup for the CRDi units as well. I immediately fell in love with the Gray color!:inlove: Can't wait for the release of the CRDi Grand Starexes.![]()
Sige mga tsikoteers. whoever bought a grand starex, pasakay na lang.

Eto na, nasa Hyundai global website na si Grand Starex: http://worldwide.hyundai-motor.com/c...h_1/focus.html
Hyundai Grand Starex has a lot of variants when it's launched... van, wagon, limo, cargo truck, etc. And their current target market is worldwide, especially America and Europe, not like when they started decade ago as Starex here in the Philippines and other Korea's neighboring countries. Hindi kasama ang Philippines as well as other south east asian nations sa mga target market ng Grand Starex kaya hindi tayo prioritized dahil sa liit ng market dito, kaya limitado pa ang model na dinadala dito sa atin. Tingnan nyo at H1 pa ang Grand Starex sa international website nila. Kahit dito sa atin eh napakadaming Starex ngayon. Kasi sa pangalang H1 mas bumenta ang lumang Starex sa ibang bansa like Italy, Dubai, Turkey, and many others kaya sa kanila naka- focus ang Hyundai ngayon... Buti pa sila :-(
i just want to know if magagamit ba ang AUX port sa grand starex ng HU na nilagay ng HARI. tsaka basing sa specs, mas logical bumili ng 12 seater na CRDi kasi na fofold yung rear seats ala fortuner. yung ten seater kasi fixed na...
Automahn
Thank you so much sir. Now I can easily visualize the seating arrangements whether 6, 8, 9 or 12 seater. The website you posted is so helpful.
does anyone have an idea if there's a 7-seater grand starex available in the gray market?
plano ko rin bumili nang bagong grandstarex crdi kaso nga mukhang masyado syang mahal... meron po bang mga tsikoters dito na bumili na nang grandstarex? leather interior na po ba yung crdi variants nila? m/t? mabalos po!
guys, we just canceled our reservations for the 12 seater CRDi/10 seater Gold CRDi due to budget constrains....i advised my dad to wait for 2 years or earlier if HARI will listen to the customers' pleas by lowering the prices before disposing our x-trail... my mom actually thinks of the new vios but i think that she is sacrificing our safety (me and my brother and sister) just for fuel efficiency.
^In terms of frontal crash worthiness the new 2007 Vios is quite good. Its that Toyota Phils chose to emit the side and curtain airbags which makes side impact worthiness poor.
Pls read this thread : Compact cars unsafe? if you havent already. :D
guys, tingin niyo kaya magbibigay ng magandang deal ang HARI for the grand starex this december? sabi ni erpat ibabalik niya yung reservation namin kung makakapagbigay ng magandang deal Hyundai Commonwealth sa amin.. maybe lowering of the price or 0% interest perhaps?
