Same lang as any painted part of the body, not a noticeable fingerprint magnet. And you don't touch all chrome parts naman diba.

Well, thinking of doing it on a different car (Fortuner), and I wanna kill the chrome on the tailgate handle (fingerprint magnet).

The chrome door handles on the RS are a pain to keep fingerprint-free.

The FB was a temporary car while I was waiting for the OR/CR of my FC.

Wala naman akong brand loyalty haha. I've owned a Ford and several Toyotas. Now I'm left with a Mazda and this new Honda. 😉

    Brochure says 133 mm.

You are right, it is 22degs. I think it was HondaPro Jason that got me confused. Not sure where I got the 25! Ahaha

This is when the CVT feels really weird. Power is there but the engine droning at 6000 rpm is annoying.

When the car "downshifts" it doesn't start at 4500 rpm then climbs to 6500. It just stays at the 5500-6500 rpm range, hence the droning.

This will take some getting used to. Although generally I've adjusted my driving style where I don't need to drive like this just to get good pace. It's more efficient to maintain momentum than braking hard and accelerating rapidly.

    Sir Jut,

Which is faster, "S" mode or "L" mode. We don't have L mode sa RS pero some forum and YT comments suggest mas faster ang "L" mode since it doesn't give you that fake shifts...

Pag WOT bro whether D, S, or L, nakaredline lang siya.

Keeping it in D and Econ On is enough for most overtakes. I turn off Econ and put it into S if I want to overtake ng mas dikit. Haven't needed L in regular driving.

Hello Sir, if same sya ng idea sa City CVT. Yung L Mode pang akyatan and engine braking sya. AFAIK, hanggang gear 2 lang ang L mode. Para syang primera ng manual transmission.

I see. Thank you Sir Jut / Sir Arvs,

Sa 1.5 cvt at D and S mode, fake shift galore kahit WOT. On YT vid na nakikita ko on overseas spec 1.5T CVT, may L mode sila and sabi nila mas mabilis nga since it doesnt give fake shifts 0 upto topspeed.

    Eto sirs ung sample.

Guys, I'm still confused about the econ mode and when to use it. During bumper to bumper traffic or the highway? I'm reluctant on using it because I've heard stories that using econ mode (other car brand) will damage your transmission due to under power.

How much do you really save on fuel in terms of pesos?

    Thanks.

First, this is how Econ Mode works:
    1. Engine shift point is lower - if it can upshift at a lower rpm, it will. For the CVT, if it can "fake shift" earlier, it will. However, if the power is needed, it will stay at the optimal rpm.

    2. Throttle input is modulated - the first few inches of pedal travel don't have as much response compared to when Econ is off. This is to help people avoid hard, inefficient inputs to the pedal. If you floor it though, same response as when Econ is off.

    3. Aircon is kept weaker - maximum blower and maximim thermostat is disabled in order to reduce the load on the engine.

Given those details, it's easy to see that there will be no damage to your car with Econ on.

What you get with Econ on is a less responsive car for the interest of efficiency. If you want your Civic peppy all the time, turn Econ off and use S mode.

I have tried driving with Econ on and off with my old Civic FB, and have not observed a significant difference in fuel consumption. But that's because I drive exactly the same with econ on or off. It's harder to be restrained when driving with econ off. With econ on, the ECU limits the car for you so it's harder to drive inefficiently.

You can use Econ mode whether in city or highway driving.

^^^ I guess I will be one of those who will opt not use the Econ Mode. Hehehehe

On a different note, my FXT has the "I" mode (intelligent mode, Subaru terms) which I use in the usual bumper-to-bumper traffic conditions.

*jut - those are really nice rims. You are right to say that the new Civic deserves 18" rims as a stock option. I find the stock 17s on the Civic Turbo to be a bit conservative.

Econ mode is pretty similar to i mode on Subarus. It doesn't make the Civic dull, just less sharp than with Econ off and in S mode (this is like S mode in Subaru).

Yes even the 17s on the RS didn't look quite right on such a big body, which is why I skipped it altogether and went for the Accord V6 18s. 😉

    sir Jut,

how's the road noise/ sound insulation compared to your Mazda 3?

I'm coming from 2nd gen Mz3 which feels like it has zero sound deadening, I'm assuming it is on par with your 1st gen

    TIA!

Much better of course since we're comparing cars launched 12 years apart. 😊

NVH is class-leading for the Civic. In terms of road noise, same level as the current Altis. In terms of absorbing road imperfections, the Civic is better. When I had stock rims, even the truck lane on C5 wasn't a bone-jarring experience with the Civic.
