hi guys, question again, i got my civic checked for first 1K PMS last Sat. but starting last Monday until today, i just noticed my engine is quite noisy when I have it ON every morning. parang pang diesel na SUV yung sound nya outside. but once I drove it for quite some time, it will be gone din naman. anyone experienced it? what did you do?

My Civic's engine exhibited the same behavior, but the noise went away when I switched to higher-octane fuel (Caltex Platinum/Petron Blaze).

Petron XCS from the start. oooh, interesting. that's quite expensive if I use higher octane for a daily city driving. but i'll try to change my fuel next time and check if the noise will be gone.

Alternatively, you could also have it checked out at a Honda service center. Our units are still under warranty, after all

What's a peso difference in exchange for peace of mind? If your Civic is doing well with XCS, go with it.

Peace of mind was also my reason for going with Blaze/Platinum. Plus, I'm too lazy to bring the car to the casa to have it checked (the higher octane fuel solved the "problem", anyway).

Can't it be covered by insurance?

hi sir. It can be covered, the problem is the cost of 1pc foglight from casa is almost the same as my insurance participation fee (4 to 5thou approx). At any rate, I have gone over the prices of DLAA foglights, it seems di naman nagkakalayo sa presyo ng casa, yun nga lang, at the price of 5thou plus, i get to have one set/assembly na while in casa, 1 piece lang

Ot lang po.. since petron xcs ang usapan.. may problem din ako dyan. Pag xcs gamit ko may certain rpm na may engine knock tapos mas ma vibrate ang makina.. add mo pa na mas maamoy ang exhaust pag xcs ang gamit.. pag blaze naman smooth at walang amoy ang exhaust..

Also tried unioil 95 gas.. parang blaze din smooth.. yun xcs lang talaga

Our civic has knock control feedback circuit, that's why you can safely run 91octane kahit turbo, as stated on manual and fuel door sticker.


It just needs to learn the fuel you use. If na reset ecu, which I gues happpened during your 1k pms. It will revert back to default table(91 oct tune, very conservative timing maps, fuel injection and what not) and could cause poor or sluggish engine. Just continue to drive it till the knock table values are populated again.

If di nagbago, there could be some other issue. Raise na lang sa casa...

Mga sir may naka exp na ba sainyo na nagpagas kayo tapos hindi nagupdate yung fuel meter? Nagpagas kasi ako ng 200 (P 41.6/L) then hindi siya nagupdate tapos nagpagas ulit ako sa shell ng 150 wala pa rin then nung 3rd time kong magpagas umabot ng 860 ayon nagupdate na sya and almost full na yung bar. Ano kayang dahilan bakit hindi siya nagupdate nung first time kong nagparefuel?

Ganyan talaga pag barya barya lang kinakarga. Almost all modern cars I've owned, ganyan.

Never akong nagkarga na hindi full tank so I don't experience that problem.
