Hi Everyone,
I've been following this ecosport thread for a while now and decided to register my own login to respond this thread. hehe Just wanted to share our story on how we ended up with an ecosport and here goes..
My fiance' and I are currently living and working in China. Last month, we decided to buy our first car and we opted to to buy either a Chevrolet Trailblazer, Fortuner or an Innova because she likes SUVs for no reason. lol I was more inclined to buying a sedan like the Toyora Altis or Ford Focus and even a hatcback(Ford Focus or Hyundai Accent Diesel) cause I like fast cars (never owned one). But I changed my mind when I read about the Chevy Trailblazer cause of its Torquey Engine. So Chevy TB has been our first choice. The thing is it cost almost 1.5 M for the 2.8 AT LT version and we realized that its expensive and would not be worth it cause we only get to visit PH once/twice every year and won't be able to use it that much. (Sarap ng buhay ng mag-alaga nito sa pinas kung ito bibilhin namen! hehe). So we let go of the Chevy with broken hearts and put our options to a sub-1M price car. Innova is my first choice cause its roomy and I know how it performs since my Dad has the E D4D manual model (I'd say its a solid car and worth the money!). But my fiance dont like it cause she wants something new and at least an SUV. Having no other option, I asked her her again to choose between Ford Focus, Altis, Accent hatchback and Chevy Spin but none of these passed her taste cause she really likes an SUV! Women! hehe Then she suggested the ecosport. At first, I was not impressed cause it looks small in the photos. I did some reviews from youtube and threads and I find it interesting. But I'm still not convinced cause it looks small in the photos and videos. One morning, she called me and told me with excitement that she saw an ecosport parked near our office! So, I came down and take a look.. Its a white Titanium variant and
it got me convinced! We immediately contacted her Dad to check with Ford and gave us Ms. Rubie of Ford Global and reserved a White Titanium model! Reservation fee is 10K php and refundable based on the quotation she sent. Also, availability is sometime this March according to this.
I take eco photos every time I get by the parking lot and here are some. hah!
Thanks for reading and have a good day!

Hi Regz_ph26!
I'm from Pampanga. What made you choose ecosport? Is Ford global Ok when it comes to dealership & services? Where is it located?
thanks...
Hello jgs!
Let me list down the reasons why we chose the Ecosport.
1st. Ecosport is a mini-SUV that suites the preference of my fiance' and its an affordable SUV. I also started to like SUVs because of her.Ecos design for me is very nice even with its smaller frame than regular SUVs. It doesn't look small maybe because of its tall stance. Compared to a 2013 RAV-4 its looks a bit narrower, shorter but taller.
2nd. Features! Since this is our new car, I want the best features a car could get that suites our budget. With Ecos Titanium (Top End Model) for 997K Php we'd get a moonroof, dual and side air bags, ABS (also available in lower models), Hill-Assist, Keyless Entry and Push Start button (I find it cool!), 16 inch wheels. Dual Clutch auto tranny with Shift mode is a convenience and I suppose fun to drive too. I added the complete features from the quotation sent to us (See below)
3rd. Ecosport legroom space. I just haven't tried it personally so I have no idea how its like from the inside. Based on Indian and Australian reviews, the leg room looks adequate. I'm 5' 9" and when I stood next to the car its almost my height which compared to those doing reviews who look taller than ecos still shows some leg room from the back seat. The under thigh support looks good too. Ive also seen from reviews or a forum, sorry cant remember, that a 6'3" tall can fit but no more leg room. There's one here in this forum that says the leg room is cramped for a medium built (So this bothers me) :/
Others that I like but can't be sure of...
1. 1.5L TiVCT engine with Fuel Consumption of 15 KPL. I also read the team-bhp Indian forum and so far FC in real life is around 10 to 11 KPL mixed driving condition. There are others who commented that the FC is at its worse during the break-in period around 6 to 8 KPL.
2. Auto Tranny with Dual clutch transmission (DCT) with Shift mode (I always wanted to try this!) I first seen an AT with paddle shift on a Mitsubishi Lancer and ASX and I find them cool! I'm coming from a Manual tranny (My Dad's Innova) which I find it tiring specially in heavy traffic. I tried an AT Fortuner and its very easy to drive. Maybe Im getting old with the MT. hehe I found a video about DCT issues like jerking and lag on a Ford Focus (2012) and it was resolved by tweaking the ECU and owner was somehow happy with the result.
About Ford Global Dealership and Service, I can't really say for now cause we only reserved the unit. There's one tsikoteer who posted in this thread that Ford Global is OK. I'll have to ask my Fiance's Dad if they got their Everest from them and ask for some feedback regarding their service.
Here's Ms Rubie's contact info and Ford Global Location: (I found their address in the quotation)

Hi Regz_ph26!
Thanks for that very informative statement. I appreciated it much. I may consider Ecosport Trend Manual.
For the dealership, I may opt to look forward on feedbacks about Ford Balintawak (If it's OK also) since it's nearest from our town next to Ford Pampanga. (Ford Pampanga which is one of the Laus groups has negative feedbacks why I'm looking for other dealers)
Best regards,
JGS
Thanks Louie. Hope this works.

The ecosport is nice when you think about your daily drive here in the Metro. It can weave in and out of traffic with ease, fit in narrower spaces and parking will be a breeze. But I can't help remembering what happened to that retired judge or official (can't recall exact profession) who drove his Pajero IO after a party some years back. It was late in the evening and he and his wife wandered in the yellow bus lane in Edsa. A rampaging bus hit them and the car was a total wreck, both occupants died on the spot.
i love small cute SUVs, don't get me wrong, even the Jimny, Pajero IO, or say if Toyota decides to offer the Toyota rush here. But that incident, napako nasa isip ko yun accident na yun.

First thing you have to understand is, the results would have probably been almost the same in any "car/suv vs bus" incident, don't just simply single out one vehicle type because that's the incident you remembered.
Another thing you need to remember is the Pajero IO was developed in the 90's, safety standards nowadays are much higher than back then.
The most important thing to remember is to drive safely and be aware of your surroundings.
